I was managing KEVA in Evanston, WY in the early 70' and somehow got some free passes to 3 concerts at the U. of Utah. Within about 9 months, I saw the Lettermen, Fifth Dimension and The Carpenters. All three were a thrill, well done, full of hits and now among my favorite memories. The Lettermen sang every song perfectly, they certainly deserved their long stay on the best-seller charts.
My sweetheart and I were there at the Special Events Center too, along with an enormous crowd including you. I'll never forget their rendition of Shangri-La. It became "our song." Sweet memories....tickets torn in half, memories in bits and pieces. Traces of love, long ago that didn't work out right. Traces of love...with me tonight.
this is probably the best version of this song. so sweet and so sad, i was only 12 when i had this album (a pirated LP bought in Taiwan at NTD 10 (USD 25 cents), all songs in this album has been staying with me ever since.
Perfect. These richly talented fellows never fail to impress through all their wonderful music down through the decades. I've been absorbed by their beautiful harmonies since the 60s.
I've been a fan of the original hit version of this song by the Classics IV since it came out and still am but the Lettermen absolutely make it magic. Oh Wow!
One of my favorite songs by the Lettermen also : Cherish/Precious and Few. medley. And : World Without Love ! Thanks for the beautiful song ! 🎤 🎻 🎻🎻 🎹🎺 🎵
JUST AS GOOD AS GOLD!!...Thank you soooo very much for posting and sharing this "lost and VERY rarely heard anymore" lil' gem that climbed as high as #47 on the pop charts for The Lettermen back on the week on January 31, 1970...I thoroughly enjoyed listening!...and the sound quality is TOP-NOTCH too! Take Care! Elizabeth =)
This song for ERO. my love. We used to sing this song. We were both 17 then, now in our late 50s. We separated innocently and i have been looking for her for all these years...I talked to her on the phone recently, what a lovely voice. Here's for you, E, It's too bad we don't have pictures together, but my memories of our times together are still fresh in my mind. I just close my eyes and say a prayer, that someday...I love you, E, I still do.
When I was a teen we used to harmonize under streetlights and in hallways for the echo. The cops chased us from the streetlights. I think because they couldn't sing like us, lol. The older ladies loved hearing us sing in the hallways and used to clap for us. Sweet, sweet memories. All of us wanted to become singers. Little did we know that we were already singers. ;-)
Wowww... i bet u sing well blendedly like that of my idols The Lettermen though i was still a kindergarten kid back then but i really love them much... great iconic legendary singers of all times!!!
I feel your pain, my friend. My experience was not exactly like yours, but it reminds me of it. I had an unrequited love from my freshman yr. in high school and I never told her how I felt about her. She lived in another town 30 miles away, that at the time, seemed like a long distance. I found out about 18 months ago she died of a brain tumor at age 46 in 1997.
Je t attendrais le temps qu il faudra toujours fidèle par amour pour toi je pense à toi très très fort prend soin de toi mon ange merci pronfonde gratitude merci ❤❤❤
Beautiful song and wonderful clips in the video. It says 65Seasons, but at the end of the song it says 65Reasons. Can you please elaborate why the difference? Again, beautiful song! I'm very familiar with the Traces/Memories version by The Lettermen, but I'm not sure I've ever heard just their Traces song. Thank you for sharing with us!
wow so sweet.. ur just like my childhood friend way back in my grade school days lol... we've crossed our paths again through Fb after ages and told me he's still in love wd me.. his first real love he said which i wasn't aware of coz he's too shy to let me know lol.. i didn't believe him at first till I've read ur comment just now... so now i believe him lol.... thx for sharing ur thoughts then lol
One of the best song of the lettermen.
Even the traces have almost almost completely disappeared . . . all but the wounds that will never heal.

Another example of how the Letterman were more memorable than the original artist.
Thank you.

It reminds me of how I dance my girlfriend before in high school. Now, she is my loving wife and how we really missed those olden days.

This is the anthem of my college days at CSJ-R in Cebu (1972-1976). These songs bring back great memories. Kisses from USA.
Lettermen's music reinforce the saying that " music is the language of the soul ", would anyone agree?
Great lyrics.....something that is lacking on most tunes written today....
I've been into the Lettermen's music since the 60s and love it just as much today as then. Nothing better.
100%, it's true to the core!!!
One of my favorite songs by the Lettermen also : Cherish/Precious and Few. medley. And : World Without Love ! Thanks for the beautiful song ! 🎤 🎻 🎻🎻 🎹🎺 🎵

Im sorry for your loss PVcat1. I remember feeling sad when I learned than an unrequited high school crush of mine died two years ago. He was only 53.

bnelson2251 I love the Lettermen from the 60s, Got to see them at BYU in Provo,UT.
Memories....
For me its all hardness during that times
poignant memories of days gone by........
Faded photograph
Covered now with lines and creases
Tickets torn in half
Memories in bits and pieces
Traces of love long ago
That didn't work out right
Traces of love
Ribbons from her hair
Souvenirs of days together
The ring she used to wear
Pages from an old love letter
Traces of love long ago
That didn't work out right
Traces of love with me tonight
I close my eyes and say a prayer
That in her heart she'll find
A trace of love still there
Somewhere, oh, oh
Traces of hope in the night
That she'll come back and dry
These traces of tears from my eyes
Oh, yeah
