    Ted's mastery of both harmony and teaching all levels is legendary. I see a couple of comments from people who mistook his wonderful broad minded explanation of his approach to music as "hippy" talk.
    That is absolute nonsense; he was simply conveying his huge understanding of music as honestly and clearly as he could, and it had nothing to do with either social movements, anti-war activism or fashion, although I suspect he was, like every decent person in America during the 1960s, horrified, disgusted, and outraged by his nations' political leaders' genocidal assault on Vietnam and Cambodia.

      Being anti-hippy in the first place only shows how ignorant a person is. Most of those people think a hippy is just someone who has long hair if they're a man and doesn't shave their armpits if they're a woman, and they all wear tie dye and go to Grateful Dead shows. Well _some_ hippies do that, but not all of them.
      To put it simply, a hippy is really just someone who wishes to live in harmony with the world around them. That's certainly a wiser approach to life than most people have, so how that's ever seen as a bad thing is beyond me.

    15:40 - KoRn made good use of that "spooky/dissonant" interval during the mid to late nineties.

    How do I learn these kinds of chord shapes he's playing? Is the best way to just figure out the voicings on my own on the fretboard or should I use a book like Chord Chemistry?

      use everything you can get your hands on! a great study is start with 2 note 'dyad' slide each tone / voice up or down one scale tone through entire scale, then do same with triads in all inversions, then tetrads four note chords, then try same using different string groupings as opposed to adjacent strings, whew a lifetime study right there

    Is there a second part video since he took a break?

  • @m.vonhollen6673

    The “avoid note” is b9.
    Only the tritone can support it.
    So only Dominant 7th chords can contain the b9 interval.
    Please correct me if that’s wrong.

    When playing keyboards, the "technical" triviality of things like Whiter Shade of Pale for some reason (stupidly) make it harder to appreciate the simple musical beauty. But when played on the guitar, it's just wonderful. (Or maybe it's just Ted Greene)

  • @lexrex3
    @lexrex3 7 лет назад +1

    Did Ted Greeene ever play back ground music for 70's TV shows? Because some of this music sounds like something I've heard somewhere from the past like in an old movie or TV program.
