  • Now that I have everything needed to put together a custom loop I decided to build it outside of a system as a proof of concept to learn how it works and of course I am taking you guys a long for the ride.

    Congratulations on the video friend, the only self-explanatory video I found on the internet. Thanks.

    You should also make sure that the block input of your the rad is higher then the pump side of the rad

    @brianmoreau5274 4 месяца назад

    As a general rule for average water blocks, the port closer to the side is the outlet. The off centre port feeds the distribution plate.

    If you do the air test, spray soapy water on your connections. If there's bubbles you have a leak at that connection!

    Haha the other commenters already pretty much covered it, yeah it looks cool and actually does have some benefits over air or AIO but IMO not enough of a benefit and too much risk for that small benefit of a few C lower. Got a new Arctic liquid freezer 420 AIO that I bought for 100$ sitting in the closet and I still prefer my NHD15 but using just a 9900k and it's only 240W max OC so the D15 is plenty.

    What software do you use to control the pump and the fans and monitor everything ?

    • @TechLabUK
      @TechLabUK  3 дня назад

      You can use what ever you want. I generally set things up on motherboard headers and set them through the Bios and monitor them through what ever software the motherboard manufacturer provides but I have used the application FanControl before which is really good and does everything.

    Dude you really need to do this with US parts. None of these can be shipped here.

      This is a UK channel lol I have no idea what is available to the US even though I do know it's all a lot cheaper.

    Havent really seen much videos talk about this but how do you measure temps? Should we be referencing the water temperature? And if so, do we need any additional probes or do the pumps have sensors?

    • @TechLabUK
      @TechLabUK  8 месяцев назад +1

      You would measure the temp of the components. I do believe you can get inline thermometers and one's built into the res/pumps if you want to monitor the water temp as well.

    I have never been brave enough to mess with custom loops like that. But this is an interesting watch.

    I need to cool two 12 core CPUs, each with a 135W TDP, on a dual socket motherboard. Not air-cooling the GPU, since it's a just an old Radeon HD 5450 so I can connect a display for management and troubleshooting. Should I go for a 360mm radiator?

    • @TechLabUK
      @TechLabUK  6 месяцев назад

      I would as a minimum.

    It's my first loop and I have doubts about the pump, I'll summarize, I have the Lian Li SL120 fans which, as some already know, are proprietary and the hub connects all the fans I use, so I connected the MOBO's normal connection to the RPM in SYS_FAN, and I connected the pump to the CPU_FAN instead of the AIO_PUMP, did I do that right? I tried to be as "clean" as possible in my explanation, thank you.

    • @TechLabUK
      @TechLabUK  8 месяцев назад

      That will work fine and is how a lot of people do it as if you don't have anything plugged into the CPU_FAN header the bootup will complain (On most boards). Just setup that header the way you want it in the bios and away you go.

    I hope I never own a pc hot enough to need liquid cooling! I'd be worried it'll leak. Looks cool though.

    • @TechLabUK
      @TechLabUK  Год назад +1

      Yeah, I have no real "need" for it. Just fun to play with, although my 12700k is a bit of a pig to keep cool so might install a custom loop on that. Will see how the tests go lol

    Do reservoirs and water blocks require a specific pipe diameter?

    • @TechLabUK
      @TechLabUK  7 месяцев назад +1

      You can usually get the connector ends and pipe to match in size, the threads on the connectors for res, blocks, rads etc tend to be the same.
