Only those of us who have been with you a while probably started laughing when you asked Aaron if he wanted to prune the willow! I will never forget your reaction when he did the bowl cut on the willow when the tree was first pruned. We love Aaron!
😂😂I was surprised Laura asked!!
Right… I remember that also. 🤣🤣🤣
Oh man, I laugh so hard at "the bowl cut"
And his face lit up when she asked! Funny!
He lives in hope that Laura will give him another chance!😁
I have friends who had a beautiful willow in the front yard and the husband hated it because it always had aphids and when he mowed under it he always came away covered in that sticky residue. There is also a pasture near me that has two beautiful willows that are always trimmed perfectly- so even that I wonder if they actually measured from the ground up when they made their cuts. Then one day I drove by and saw their trimmers. It was their goats! So the tallest goat determined exactly how far up from the ground each of the weeping branches were trimmed-just as high as her teeth could reach. The goats are not out there all the time but let out there periodically
On another note I realized today why you are successful. You literally are able to talk to the camera like we are right there. You don’t talk AT the camera but more inclusive. I watch other shows where people chatter away and are very nice but it’s more like listening to a teacher and that’s okay and some days with certain projects you are a teacher also. Then there are more days like today we are riding in the gator with you, chatting away and all of a sudden, it’s , “oh my gosh , look at that” and we jump out of the gator and we are looking at pumpkins and we are all excited at all the things we are finding in the garden. It’s pretty amazing. You were blessed with avery inclusive personality. Sometimes after your show is over I’m kind of surprised to find I’m back at home and not still in Eastern OR.
Laura would you consider doing a video where you drive the gator around the whole property and stop every time you want to show us something special like you did today with the maze garden. You said it’s easy to get distracted. You could call distracted garden tour. I loved it when you jumped out and did that mini tour of the maze. It’s a-mazing. Love it so so much. Excited about the grass too. Have a an a-mazing gardeners. We finally got rain here in Austin.
And could it be about 2 hours long!!!🥰🥰🥰
Love this idea!
I agree! I’ve been meaning to suggest something similar. Maybe a ‘what’s looking good in the garden’ tour once a week or something. There were gorgeous white roses in the background of a video a couple of weeks ago and I was so hoping Laura would turn around and show them to us more closely. No such luck.
I’m in Tx too (west part - Odessa), and we got rain all last week here. It was WONDERFUL!! So glad y’all got rain in Austin as well! Happy gardening! ❤️
Good morning to you all from the west side of Oregon.
So happy to wake up to your videos every morning. How do you still come up with new content and ideas after so many years of making videos?
Also you’re a major role model for me, thank you for all you do.
Isn't Laura just the best! At 69 years young I find she's even been a role model for me. I was a inconsistent gardener until I started following her. Now I'm actually enjoying my time working on creating a pleasing garden. 🌺🌺🌺🧡🧡🧡
@Jerrie Cook, same here…..it’s slower progress but I’ve learned a ton from Laura…mostly deciding it’s ok to move, cut down or discard things! And layering…I’ve never done that before. So fun
Keep thinking how satisfying it would be to have kids growing up with the benefit of your garden! I mean, come on! That maze garden! What a wonderland for them!
The maze has been a joy for me to see! I really want to see an aerial view of the kids running through it! Us cyber Grandma's love to see the kids in the videos!
Same here!
I believe there are not much video of the kids for security reasons. We live in a scary time.
Please can I ask my friends here at Garden Answer to pray for my mom, she’s 86 and we found out today that due to Covid treatment delays she is virtually blind in one eye and only has 35% and deteriorating vision in the other eye. I would really appreciate it if you could pray to, send healing thoughts whatever greater good you believe in your heart that they can find a treatment that will halt the deterioration in the little sight she has left. She’s given so much to so many over the years as a nurse loosing the limited independence she has now would be devastating for her. Thank you, Kathy xx
On bended knee 🙏
@@dianequist835 Thank you so much xx 🙏🏻
Sending prayers and healing wishes to her and your family! 🙏🙏🙏
Lifting your mom up in prayer...God is good!
Done
Laura, are you still planning to transfer the espalier Pear to the black fence next to the orchard? The structure of that tree is so beautiful and I would love to see it more often!
It could be a little surprise behind the shed to replace that tree with fire blight
My thought too?
I was just about to comment the same thing. Right behind the orchard with a bistro table set would be so cute.
I can't believe how that maze garden grew so much in only 2 months!! Wow!! A-maze-ing! 😄
I have a 5 month old baby and we watch your show every morning while she drinks her bottle. Hopefully it encourages her to be a gardener one day! 😂 Aaron seems to be the grass guru!
@LindzWild ~ Congratulations on your 5 month old daughter!!! You will have so much fun, shopping for and dressing up your living "baby doll"....🤗
Aaron acting like he would use a low setting had me laughing because ANYONE who's followed you guys for a hot minute knows he LOVES a heavy seed spread! Have you considered just installing a brick border between the pathway grass & the meadow grass, like how it is by the willow & rock? I love that willow!!
My husband said no to the Willow for us. He’s too afraid of the roots invading sewage system! Is that a lame excuse or can the roots really do that?
@@barefootreba
Oh yes, it can do that. So can maples. I had an expensive repair on my system---twice!
@@lajhome65 oh no! We have a young Japanese growing not growing not far from the leach field
The Japanese is not as invasive as the standard large trees. Or at least, they don't seem to be.
That garden maze is magical. Hope you’re taking lots of pics and video with the kids in there…it’s a perfect backdrop!
So exciting about the grass in the orchard! I can’t wait to see the meadow area. 🥰 a dry stacked stone wall around the orchard would be so beautiful!
I have fond memories playing with my cousins under the willow tree at my grandmother's house.
Enchanting from start to finish!!! SO love the cut flower shed and am excited to see the grass come up! The maze garden is pure magic. I can only imagine being a child who gets to experience it every day. And, yes, Laura, you should be the only one to prune the willows! Aaron has his skills too, but I wouldn't let anyone touch the willows except you!! Thank you both!!!
I love how Laura just casually throws around- “Oh.. we’re probably going to be planting a couple THOUSAND more bulbs..” 🤣
I about lost it when she said that also! A couple thousand more bulbs are a drop in the bucket.... no biggie! LoL 😂
Exactly! I laughed out loud 🤣
Laura, I so enjoy your joy! Your excitement and gratitude over a grass seeding or a pumpkin turning orange is a reminder of how we all should live. Your videos always lift up my heart.
☕️Good morning Laura and Aaron and all GA friends from southeast Michigan. I had my grandsons (twins are age 7, little bro is 4) plant pumpkin seeds in a big pot since their new home’s garden isn’t ready yet - and they have pumpkins!!! So funny, and they are thrilled! So great to be motivated by all of you and Laura and Aaron, too. No matter where you are, or what your space, you can always find a way to enjoy gardening! Thank you so much 🎃🧡🌻😃
@Dee Zahm ~ 👋Good morning to you, also! How fun for your grandsons to have their own pumpkin patch 🎃🎃🎃at your home!!! It will always be a treasured memory for them.🤗🤗🤗
Every time you drive by the cutting garden, I want to say “Wait-stop!” Lol! Everything is looking beautiful. 🤩
Hello my friend. This is more than just a video, you put love and passion into it. Great job! Good luck!🌺👍
Good Evening from 🇮🇳
Love watching your videos and the way you explain 👍
Everything is developing beautifully and next year it is going to look even better. The willow tree is wonderful and I can just imagine the kids playing there. Making it a fort or a house or anything they imagine. Thank you for letting me share the journey
I would love to see the children’s garden from their point of view. How would Benjamin feel about wearing a Go Pro? 😘
I know I have mentioned before about how much your property reminds me of my childhood. My father had a small orchard...
3 plum, 1 apricot, 3 cherry, 2 pear, 8 apple, and 1 peach. We also had a weeping willow, it was my mothers favorite tree, He grew zinnias , snapdragons, and red sage along our driveway. There were multiple veggie gardens. He Planted several long rows of corn. You have no idea how much this video warmed my heart. Sweet memories of my childhood mixed with excitement for your new "meadow" . Thank you.
The lights on the cutting sheet are perfect. It’s sometimes worth waiting until the find the item you imagine. Samantha Grace’s flamingo are just beyond cute.
Cutting sheet?
Laura and Aaron, your maize garden is amazing!!! What a FUN space for your kids to play in as well. I can appreciate all of your time and effort in everything you do. Thank you for sharing your journey, ideas and lovely gardens with us :)
When I saw the title "Seeding Grass in the Orchard" I thought this is one video I can skip. I am so happy my curiosity prevailed. Y'all made sowing grass and pruning the willow so interesting. The tour of the maze garden was awesome. Thank you for sharing information, entertainment, positivity, and beauty everywhere in your glorious property.
Love the "distracted" mini tour! ❤
Oh this space is so pretty Laura, the fruit trees look amazing!! , I’m excited to see this meadow evolve! 💚
I love the outdoor lights on the shed ! So beautiful 🤩
I laughed right out loud when you asked Aaron if he wanted to trim up the willow. 🤣💗
The black eyed Susan vine is giving me Monet’s garden vibes!! So beautiful! The zinnias are amazing. I can’t wait to see the grass fill in for the orchard. Y’all have got this down to a science! ♥️ I love watching you grow so many sun loving flowers and veggies. My backyard is shaded with beautiful and tall oaks, hickory, beech, dogwood and maple. I love my hardwood forest but I wish I had more room to grow sunflowers and zinnias!
@Summer Moon Garden ~ could you grow some in your front yard? You mention that your backyard is a forest, but no mention of the front yard. Or is it shaded, as well, from the backyard trees?
I just read ur comment and thought… isn’t is funny that we all tend to wish we had different gardens than we do lol? No judging meant by this bc I live in west Texas which is hot and dry desert and often wish for more shade lol. My house faces west and the backyard faces east. We have one shade tree (fruitless mulberry) in the front yard that we r about to take down bc it’s diseased. We r then going to plant two red shumard oak trees in our front yard. I’ve planted 3 crepe myrtle trees in different areas this year, but they’re still babies. We have brutal full hot Tx sun in every part of our garden except for the diseased tree we’re about to remove. I have lamented several times that I wish I had more shade bc plants struggle in our brutal sun. I wish I had ur shade and u want more of my sun lol. Just made me laugh that gardening is always a process, and we all seem to get hit at times wishing we had diff gardens than we do. Happy gardening from a sun garden to a shade garden! ❤️
@@loricawley54 so true right?! 😂 we always want what we can’t have. But I do love my trees. It was one reason we bought this home. I love it when the breeze blows through the trees and I hear that lovely sound. These are the type of trees that take longer than ones lifetime to grow that big so I am thankful to be caretaker of them for now!
@@kimberleyfrasquillo3684 I have a small area up front that is full sun, but it is full of roses and salvia mostly!
@@loricawley54 also, I live in north Georgia near the blue ridge mountains-we have trees and forest everywhere-I forget sometimes how I take our beautiful landscape for granted! I have been to Texas before and marvel at the big open sky. Each area is beautiful in its own way!
Your enthusiasm is contagious!!! Can't wait to see the grass!! Really excited to see the bulbs blooming through it in the spring.
Can’t wait to see the grass in the orchard ! The corn and sunflower maze was so enchanting ! What a cool space for the kids to play !❤️🙏🌻😊
I absolutely LOVE the maze garden!! It just blows my mind how fast that it grew and filled up! I have 10 acres of land and I think I'm only utilizing maybe a half acre, maybe one acre idk. But creating a space like that would be soo much fun to try!!
Go for it!! 🙌
It is nice to have lush green grass just to hang out on the sunny day.
I am so jealous of anyone that lives in an area that doesn't have to deal with the dreaded squash vine borer. The pumpkins look so wonderful!
So many comments! You probably won’t see this one. But I want to thank you for bringing us such an enjoyable peek into your blessed life. , I’m sure you know many of us consider you a treasured friend. Your sincere thank you on the Hartley video reassured me that you don’t take anything for granted. We are happy for you and your lovely family thanks for everything! 💕
When Laura cuts those willow branches it looks like she is cutting hair. And vary quickly. She is a professional!🪴
Everything looks so good. The flower shed is my jealously but I think I love the kids maze the best! Sweet peas on that trellis would be so pretty. I have even trained cherry tomatoes, melons and cucumbers up a trellis. I love the willow. The grass under the willow is a nice rest for the eye and makes a great space for the kids. So worth it.
This combination will be great on the trellis
Anyone absolutely love all the bees flying around when filming the sunflowers? Oh, and ordering the Scott Wizz today because I need that right now, yay!
I just adore the flower shed and I love the lights noticed them before you mentioned them. So happy you seeded the grass and can now watch it grow. The secret garden is so joyful and I bet Benjamin was happy to see his corn 🌽.
I love that willow tree and those masses of zinnias...the wonders of nature!
Good Morning! 🌞🌻 I do love the shed lights! Anxious to watch the grass grow & fill in! The maze is gorgeous! Love the sunflowers!🙂🌳🌾🍎🍐🍑🌻🌿
Weeping willow is my favorite tree. I always wanted one to hide under with a bench or bistro set. Perfect place to hide under.
I love gardening and I like content like this. keep it up 😊👍🙏
Funny - you didn’t let Aaron give the Willow a bowl cut. 🤣
Looking forward to seeing an update on the orchard grass in a week or 10 days … hint.
The maze garden is so wonderful! I’m sure the kiddos love running thru it. Definitely repeat next year! 🌸
Laura you should plant one more weeping willow tree on the new property 😊
I myself love the view you film just riding around on the gator....I could watch that for hours.....but 15 minutes of that with some nice music....yes please!
Love seeing your projects come to their full glory ! The maze project is a 🏆!!! Hope you will keep it going for many years because it's just so fun !!!
Love seeing everything and so excited to see the meadow come up. Question though, with it being a rhizomous grass, how will you all keep it from encroaching on the grass pathway? We've had the absolute worst year with crabgrass here in Lexington, Kentucky this year that I'm ready to torch every inch of turf!
I'm in Louisville area and same here, I can't pull the crabgrass out fast enough.
Yes, I fight Bermuda grass and it's winning.
I had the same question…
Oh, a hedge of lavender in front of the orchard! That would be so pretty. Especially a bit larger lavender.
wow, so many beautiful spaces... i always try to remember how the south garden area started as a dust patch, as well as when you moved in and had to start from scratch with the vegetable garden, the greenhouse... y'all have done so much in really a very short time... cannot wait to see the meadow develop, and the maze area, how fun is that!! love it! 🥰❤ thanks for the video! 🥰❤
Love when you take us on little mini tours. Everything just looks amazing. Love the pumpkin!
Comment, suggestion, tough love?? Your comment “I just want to show you guys things all the time” got me thinking. You SHOULD show us things all the ti e! I love you and have been watching since the beginning but I feel like I miss out on so much of the progress…good or bad. I know the bulbs in the orchard didn’t work out but that would have been good to see. I had no idea you had done brick edging around the willow! Was that in a video? Anyway, more updates are ALWAYS appreciated. Loved this video and, as always, love to you all.
Oh my goodness, Laura, it looks like a perfect Mother-in-law's quarters. 🥰
I know it's your Potting she'd and just an extension of your total vision.
Another hot day in Windermere, Florida. Next month we will be discussing Autumn 🍂 plans 👩🌾👍
I really like your garden shed lights!❣️Really like the atmosphere it evokes.💗💕❤️❣️😊
I’m happy for you that you got your grass seeded and also that you found lights for the shed that you like. The DO look nice. The maze garden has turned out so beautifully, and may I say, I’m lusting after your corn. I seldom buy it in the store because it just lacks the quality and freshness like when it comes straight from the garden. (I’m spoiled - and kind of a snob - when it comes to corn, onions, tomatoes, etc). Thank you for showing the beauty and abundance on your handiwork! 💚💚💚
The thin grass spot by the willow, add a brick base and add a beautiful bench. You love benches and the kids love to play there!! Win Win!!
EVERYTHING IS JUST BEAUTIFUL!!
🌻🌞🌻!
Good morning, Laura☕️ I love the willows, there’s something magical about them 😍 It will be interesting to see how long it takes for the grass 🌾 to germinate. That orchard is going to look so beautiful come Spring. Have a Blessed Day 😊🐈
I love it Laura. It’s like watching a movie. Thanks for sharing your landscaping ideas.
I m so envious of how much you get done in your gardens. Yes I know you have help but man your place is so spectacular. I’d love to see each and every flower close up they are beautiful. I can’t wait for spring to see your short and tall bulbs. Thank you for sharing! I wish there was a tiny weeping willow to put in my yard. I don’t have that kind of room for a large one.
Always love your videos. Does Aaron ever get upset? He has such calm demeanor. You guys are perfect together.
I love that you pruned the Weeping Willow yourself. 😄 It really needed a woman's gentle, but creative, loving touch. All men: I'll just give it a quick bowl cut and be done." All women: That's okay honey, I'll just do it myself." 😁 I love everything about your property, but honestly the weeping willow is my spirit animal (so-to-speak, lol) and it is my number one favorite thing on your property! Every time I see it framed perfectly in the background of one of your videos I love it even more! I feel like I will know my forever property when I either pull up and see the Weeping Willow there, or I find the perfect spot to plant one. 💚 Nice job!
All I can say is beyond fantastic what you are achieving. I am learning so much from you and Aaron. Thank you.
You guys have completely transformed the entire south garden in about a year and a half...absolutely glorious!!
Gonna be pretty around garden shed, I think this is the first video I didn't see either Russell or Cheddar
My sunflowers self seed every year. Have not planted any for years. Just love how tall and sunny happy they are.
Everything is looking beautiful. I love the kids maze area. Morning glories for the side that doesn't have any vines will grow fast and fill in.
The range of information I gain from your videos is invaluable. They make me want to rip up my sparse grass and start over. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
IMHO, leave the lovely green space under the Willow as is. 💚💚
It’s a little like when a child’s bangs are cut Laura! Years ago we did ‘bowl’ haircuts everything even all the way around. At one point we realized a jagged bang looks so much better.and to this day I ask cut my bangs in a jagged manner! The willow looks far more natural the way you cut it (sorry Aaron), it’s the way it should be done. LOVE the traditional lamps on the flower shed, VERY fitting. The garden is at its summer peak and EVERYTHING is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! 😊🌸🌷🌼
Aaron I always have problems opening those string closures on bags. The cat litter I use has string and OMG sometimes a lot of nasty words come from my mouth when opening them. I feel your frustration.
I love the look of weeping willows too! I want to plant one beside our pond one day.
Good morning from Arkansas! Looking forward to Spring when all your hard work in the orchard will shine. Had to laugh at Aaron’s hopeful look about pruning the willow. I think it would MAKE his year if for his birthday you told him he could dig up that much discussed round boxwood hedge.
I want to thank you for encouraging me to plant zinnia seeds much later than i ever have. They are starting to bloom now, about the same tine as my dahlias. Another week or two and they will be gorgeous. You are such an inspiration and motivating influence for me. I cant wait to see your orchard in the spring.
It’s going to look fantastic. Love the Willow tree and can understand the kids loving it. Grass is going to look amazing. The little garden looks great also. Thank you so very much for sharing this with us.💯💯💯🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Love watching you and Aaron, you communicate so well. Everything looks so good. I love the maze garden. ❤️❤️❤️🌸🌳🪴🌺
Window boxes on your cut flower shed would look adorable 🥰
I’m so jealous of the amount of cut flowers you have. Sigh
Oh Laura, you and Aaron are so amazing ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️ great day
The music is back ! That corn maze area looks so gorgeous :) Under the willow tree is such a perfect spot to read a book
The flowering fence are looking gorgeous, the sun flower is so beautiful and so much to enjoy in your maze garden.
Hey Laura absolutely love your cut flower garden Beautiful !!!Good choice of grass .May GOD Bless you guys
Glad to have the music back 😊🎼
You gave the weeping willow a mullet!
Good morning Laura. Everything is looking beautiful as usual. I love the maze area and the orchard looks awesome as well. Can’t wait to see the grass popping up
Laura and Aaron you two are an absolutely amazing team . And I love when you get distracted Laura your garden maze is just an incredible site . I totally want to do this next year. And I love your Willow's. I had two when we first moved back in 2000 we dug them up cut them back and they did amazing for about 3 years. Not sure what happened but they just died off a little at a time. Every time I see yours I want to try again but after 22 1/2 years I don't think I have room for them now. Anyway great video see you in the next one 🤗💞💕💓
And we want to see everything all the time!! You found lights for the exterior of the flower shed, wonderful! I really like them, good choice. Your maze garden for the kids has so much going on, they must love going out there to look for corn and pumpkins and run through the sections mom and dad can't get into! How fun!
Love the sunflowers!
Thank you for sharing all what is planned and planted Laura & Aaron little people like myself who rent and have limits on gardens or planning much appreciate learning & watching your progress giving my life a huge nudge forward to the feeling of ambition I can only keep the faith huh guys 🙏🙌🥰 thank you again Karen from port Macquarie NSW Australia 🇦🇺🐨🦘🦇🍂🌊🐳 🫶🏻
I love the maze for the kids. It is amazing & so fun. Makes me want to make one but I have no grandkids. I hope you video your kids playing in the maze.
Love the hair after the willow pruning ❤️
Fleur-de-lawn would be beautiful there and the pollinators would love it!
Good morning!! Everything looks so beautiful! Especially the maze! 😍
I never have success with getting those bags open!
Great video today. Can't wait for updates on your new grass Aaron just put down. Love devise he used for the grass. Got job done quick.. Your gardens just looking so beautiful .
