Lots of extra storage Martin! So true - not much room in the toolbox supplied with the tractor. Thanks for going through the build and your tool set - some good ideas there. Cheers!
Forgot to mention. Your tool boxes are a truly great idea. Well thought out and done right. And you are not trying to sell them, how refreshing that is. I will be doing likewise, copying your great idea on another L3800 with backhoe. 👍
Thank you, Greg! I have really loved having these toolboxes. They have proven to be the right shape and size and can hold a good bit of stuff. Good luck with your toolbox project! Thanks for watching!
Excellent ideas here... The " metric " hammer is a beauty for sure... The sealed toolbox looks much better than my plastic Sears toolbox screwed directly to the top of my RH fender on the JD. When I finish my carry-all build at about 85% currently, I will comment about it on your Versatile Carry-All Build video, part 2... Hint: It is 5 ft. wide & mounted on the County line carry-all frame from TSC. ( Made by Tarter USA, Kentucky... ) Bill on the Hill, Vermont, USA... :~)
Good morning Sir, just came back from logging in winter land !!! LOL Yes tools boxes are handy to have !!! and again especially with me since I grease so much my tractor that a rag is a priority too !!! To have the proper needed tools is nice to have !!! Time for me now to eat before heading to Joe's garage for an others great adventure project this afternoon with Joe !!! Great video Sir keep up the good work !!! Cheers and have yourself a great saturday !!!
How's she goiin'? Tool boxes are very important for a tractor. It doesn't mean your tractor is always braking down, it's more a sign you are prepared for the unexpected!!! A tool box was the first add-on I put on my tractor, but it's not as nice as these ones. Thanks for posting, I'm going to check into these!!!
They do look good Martin! You made some really nice brackets for your boxes! The rags are a must!! lol Yeah, you got your boxes setup nicely! I like the idea of the tube of grease. Thanks! I enjoyed watching! Have a good week Martin!!
Great video, I never would’ve thought to get a metric hammer and I’m sure the adjustable wrench is metric as well. I will need to incorporate those useful tools in my tool kit as well.🤣
Yes, specific indeed! I cut about a quarter inch (or I should say 50mm, since it's metric) off the handle so it would fit comfortably in the tool box. Yes, you should install a toolbox immediately if not sooner. The quality of your life will be enhanced immensely! Thanks for watching!
Martin, love the metric hammer. An Amazon link would be helpful. Lol. A little TP in a ziploc bag wouldn't be a bad idea either. Just in case. Thanks. Have a great day.
Hi Tommy! Look in the description for the Amazon link. I mention the link in the video. LOL Someone else suggested TP too. Fortunately I’m never too far from the house when the need arises. Thanks for watching!
Good tip on how to mount a toolbox and what to put in it. Was that a left or right handed hammer? We call your adjustable wrench a shifting spanner in Australia. Great video as usual.
LOL. Actually the hammer is ambidextrous. I lucked up and bought the last ambidextrous hammer in the store! “Shifting spanner” - I like it! Australia is on my travel wish list now that I’m retired. Where in Australia do you live? Thanks for watching!
I also carry some lifting straps and tow strap. You wouldn't believe how many people get stuck in the desert! Can't find the metric hammer anywhere tho, even Amazon.
Thanks, Pete! Yeah, I’m sure it’s a little more complicated with a cab! Looking forward to seeing your video on your toolbox solution one day. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I have a question regarding your "Patsy Quick Connect" 3Point Hitch device. How easy is it to add and remove this device? ... when you have a backhoe attachement. I am asking because I also have a Backhoe attachment, and would have to mount/dismount the Patsy Quick Connect often. ... thanks in advance for your insight! Dan
Hi Dan! It depends on if your backhoe mounts to a subframe or to the 3 point. If it mounts to a subframe like mine, then all of the 3 point hardware has to come off anyway so the Pat's Easy Change system can stay on the lift arms. If your backhoe is 3 point mounted then I would hesitate using the Pat's system because of the extreme forces the backhoe can put on your 3 point system and tractor frame. In that case, I'd take them off. That involves loosening the U bolts and side bolts, then removing the Cotter pin and slide the retaining pins out. This would actually take less time than removing the entire 3 point setup. Hope that helps!
Thanks a lot for the information! my kubota tlb. Mounts to a subframe, as such it sounds like i would'nt have to remove the pat's easy change... If i understand correctly. am i getting this right? Thanks again for your help!!
That's funny a metric hammer and a--- metric adjustable wrench haha. The real question is where do you put your chains & ropes & gloves & toilet paper?
Hi Bob! Ah yes, I usually keep my gloves in the right side toolbox. As for chains and such, I refer you to video #28. As for TP, good idea! I’ll need a bigger toolbox. Thanks for watching!
I see people commenting that TP is something to keep in your toolbox. My thoughts are, why waste the space, i always wear socks and they work great if mother nature calls at a bad time.
LOL! I guess if your property is big enough that you can’t get back to the house in time, it could be an issue. But with just 17 acres, I’m never to far away to get back in time. Thanks for watching!

Good ideas on the water proof tool boxes. My daddy had a tube of Gunslick grease in his Cleaning kit when i was a boy. Old memorys. Thank you.
Thanks, Jerry! I’ve had that old tube of Gunslick since I was a teenage so it’s probably over 40 years old. Thanks for watching!
Nice work and definitely a essential item for any tractor. I waited 40 years until I was fed up being without a tool box.
That’s a long time to be without tools in the field! Thanks for watching!
@@DIYMyWay it was a pain to compensate for not having my essential tools on my tractor.
Simple....but so very thorough too. You have the right stuff! Well done.
Thanks! I appreciate that, Dwayne!

Great tips on what to carry on the tractor, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching, Dale!
I think your videos are great! Very informative!!
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Great video, I never would’ve thought to get a metric hammer and I’m sure the adjustable wrench is metric as well. I will need to incorporate those useful tools in my tool kit as well.🤣
Thanks! Oh yes, a metric hammer is a must for a metric tractor. I shudder to think what might happen if I used an SAE hammer on my metric tractor!
Metric little persuader... Very specific tool. I should take the time to install toolbox storage on mine. I even bought a cupholder. Thanks!

Martin, I was talking about the metric hammer. Lol
...and the matching metric crescent wrench!
metric persuader lol. i noticed how the box didn't have it, then it magically appeared on top in his hand. nice video. Thank you
Good eye! It was in there but not on top. I flubbed the first take on that shot, so that's how it was suddenly on top. Thanks for watching!

Where did you get the left side toolbox mount or did you make it, great job with the video, thanks.
It came with the tractor. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for replying
For the side you created, is that just a piece of painted plywood (square) that the corner braces mount to with the U brackets around the ROPs?
It’s a piece of steel angle iron I used to make a mount system for my removable fan. I made a separate video on that. Thanks for watching!
