The bride wasn’t happy at first. I dug up her lawn and planted 15 blackberries, 15 blueberries, 8 grape vines, and just took a cutting from the neighbor’s huckleberry tree I’m starting indoors for the winter. In the fall I buy a case of cranberries and freeze the lot. I chop my own rhubarb into the mix and count them as berries. I have breakfasts covered for the year. ❤️

I am Carol Burgess and live in Arkansas. We, my husband and I are in our late 50’s. My husband had a triple bypass and lost all his muscle and fat. He is now a skeleton and looking like he can’t hold up his own lack of weight. The doctors put him on a plant-based diet, and he is trying. The big problem is he needs fat. He does a cardio workout every other two days and uses some weights with it. I believe that is what saved him, he worked out his whole life, even the doctor said he had a strong heart. He needs to stay away from oils, processed foods. How can I get some weight on him with healthy foods?
Thank you so much, I am at a loss. I have your books.

2 frozen bananas, mixture of frozen berries, maybe a cup so, cinnamon, a tall glass of water (adjust based on consistency), and 2 tablespoons of raw oats, into a blender, and it makes this delicious ice-cream-like smoothie that you can pour over some other raw oats or grain with your seeds.
Less water makes it more creamy like ice cream and tastes better. If you peel your bananas and freeze them in a container then you can just use them in your smoothies and they taste incredibly delicious.
    The most delicious breakfast.
The bananas are really what gives it that sweetness and I found 2 instead of 1, when frozen, gave it a delicious taste and texture. You don’t need any dates or other sweetener, the banana is sweet enough provided it was ripe before frozen.
Alternatively you can use the 2 frozen bananas or 3 frozen bananas with some finely chopped up dates, maybe a teaspoon or two of cocoa powder, or adjust based on preference, and some water, maybe a half tall glass, depending on your desired consistency, and some raw oats, all in a blender, and this makes a delicious desert.
The idea of oats in the blender is to sort of make an oat milk-on-the-go.
The more creamy the texture the tastier.
Just make sure your blender can handle the frozen fruit, ideally 1200W +. Be careful if it is 400-800W. I’m not sure how 800-1000W blenders handle frozen fruit.

I make a chocolate "frosty" with 1 sliced frozen banana, 1 cup soy milk, 1/2 cup rinsed cooked black beans no added salt, 1/2 cup frozen cauliflower florets, and 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder. I use a ninja blender. You may need to add a little more water. I also add 4 ice cubes to make it more icy. For more sweetness add 2 pitted soaked dates and their soaking water. This is so delicious. I pour it into a huge insulated cup. Sometimes I add less water and eat it with a spoon. You don't taste the cauliflower or beans at all. My friend adds a dash of cinnamon for a Mexican chocolate effect. Sometimes I add a drop or two of pure almond extract for a Hershey Almond Bar effect. Riced frozen cauliflower doesn't work as well so be sure to go for florets.

For salads, may not be ideal for everyone’s weight-loss goals, but I find that the soup/stew that I’ve made, consistening of legumes of different beans and lentils and my tomato for the base with 2 onions, garlic ginger, broccoli, cauliflower, maybe starchy veg like sweet potato and butternut for taste, with mushrooms, and chopped up carrots, spinach, and maybe some other veg like maybe a beet or something else, with a lot of spice like cumin, turmeric, coriander, maybe some cayenne for heat, and some curry powder like masala and garam masala, becomes an easy ‘salad dressing.’ I just pour over my soup/stew on my green leafy veg, mostly lettuce as it’s delicious, and perhaps you can add your chopped up red onions and tomato and mix it with your seeds.
It’s an easy way to get your salad in if you don’t have a salad dressing that works for you. Probably more calories though so depends on your specific goals, but for me the soup/stew is so tasty that it’s a lot easier to eat my salad mixed with it.
This is aside from my bowl of soup/stew on its own without the salad, which I usually have during breakfast after I’ve had my smoothie.
Then I’ll just eat a plum and an apple after my salad as desert and maybe another fruit, else I’m satisfied.

Hmmm. I have similar needs as the person he's addressing, and I am already vegetarian and don't have a sweet tooth. My issue is that I find oats disgusting (familial trauma where plain oatmeal has been used as a punishment), I don't want to eat much fruit, the meal plan he describes is expensive where I am and don't have access to a garden, and where are the beans?!?! I guess hummus is SOMETHING but beans are one of the best ways for me to get protein and satiation. Also my salt cravings will have me reaching for potato chips if he wants everything to be unsalted. What are some recommendations that could accommodate my needs?

    • @tulsan8ive485

Eat barley instead of oats or even mix them together. There are many good grains that you can eat.
He talks about soup, that’s where I put the beans or lentils for the protein and satiation. I also put brown rice in with my beans and lentils.
Someone else talked about putting rinsed unsalted black beans in with frozen banana, cocoa and fruit to make an ice cream which sounds delicious and would be satisfying and filling. I’m gonna try that one!

People need to take personal responsibility for their life and health.
The general over all health of people has declined the last few decades.
Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences.
There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese.
What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications.
Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks.
Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods. Being thin is a sign of good health. Being over weight or obese is a sign of bad health. Poor diet, lack of exercise and obesity are contributing to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Dr. Fuhrman there are more than two ways to skin a cat. I don't believe entirely not to eat fruit or maybe once in a blue moon some vegetables. However, when I do eat those foods, I get arthritis and sometimes I get a bad stomach especially if I eat vegetables. I'm of the mindset of Dr. Anthony chaffee and Dr. Ken Berry. Who ibelieve will outlive you.

@@meman6964 it is odd however, how many people who claim to have gone complete carnivore have gotten off all their statins and meds and their blood pressure has normalized. It seems to me something is rot in Denmark, the standards of fruits and grains I think that's what's killing us. Honestly too much is no good, we are meant to eat meat. We are gathering by nature and history.

I feel this is legit for some people. The problem both cat skinners are doing is imposing their bias on everyone else instead of accepting we are all unique individuals with unique bodily needs. Vegans vs Carnivores has become like a war over whose religion is better. No such thing…
