- Hailey Jackson performs as Lady Macbeth in Act 5 scene 1 of the Scottish tragedy Macbeth by William Shakespeare.
Quick summary: Macbeth, starts out as a noble warrior, but him and his wife become overwhelmed with fantasies of power and turn to murder, including killing the current king so Macbeth may take the thrown, Macbeth's best friend Banquo who now haunts him as a ghost, and slaughtering Macduff's entire family.
Lady Macbeth, who could arguably be pinned as the instigator of this whole thing, is now so riddled with guilt she cannot sleep and spends her nights walking through the castle imagining blood on her hands she can never wash off. This scene is her final scene in the play in which she debates suicide, recalling her regrets in a sleep walk
In this adaptation two other characters, Gentlewoman and Doctor have been taken out to leave Lady Macbeth in her lunacy, a scene turned solo monologue.

Lady Macbeth; Out, damned spot! out, I say! - One: two: why, then, 'tis time to do't. - Hell is murky! - Fie, my lord, fie! a soldier, and afeard? What need we fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account? - Yet who would have thought the old man to have had so much blood in him. …. The thane of Fife had a wife: where is she now? - What, will these hands ne'er be clean? - No more o' that, my lord, no more o' that: you mar all with this starting. … Here's the smell of the blood still: all the perfumes of Arabia will not sweeten this little hand. Oh, oh, oh! … Wash your hands, put on your nightgown; look not so pale. - I tell you yet again, Banquo's buried; he cannot come out on's grave. … To bed, to bed! there's knocking at the gate: come, come, come, come, give me your hand. What's done cannot be undone. - To bed, to bed, to bed!
I like to hear the delivery in an American accent. I like the underscore as well. I had tears in my eyes.
Thank you so much. That means a lot. Her story breaks my heart too.
This was fantastic and kept me riveted despite (initially) deceptively slow pacing. Audio mixing was a bit difficult to pick out the speech over the ambiance ( which was excellent btw.) Loved your acting choices. Bravo to the DP and lighting crew for film quality in low lighting. I never had any issue seeing the actress’s subtle facial expressions in this difficult lighting.
