Not only did you do a nice job but how you got that dog to remain so calm for this haircut amazes me. Mine would try to squirm away and nip me for sure and those puppy teeth are sharp. This is the cutest dog and love how she/he is modeling off their new hair cut. Adorable!!!
Some of you guys are disliking because the dog's hair was too short but you're not the owner of this dog. This was uploaded in July and a lot of people request shorter hair so that their dogs aren't feeling too hot
In this breed of dog their long silky coat actually keeps them cool in hot weather.

I have a Havanese too, this is how I prefer to keep her cut. That long hair brings all kind of dirt and stickers inside.

I love the teddy bear face! Yes, the long coat is signature. We have stickers galore in our backyard, plus our lil stinker rolls in the grass/dirt. So I like to keep her hair semi short, but not shaved down. Our lil girl actually gets cold and wants a sweater when she's shaved down in the summer (100+ degrees). Thanks for posting, now off to try and get her lil face right!
As a groomer, you can give your client an opinion on what is best for the haircut, I tell people straight up that something might look goofy or I don't recommend going that short etc. But im not going to turn away a client because I don't agree with what they want. As long as it's not causing harm to the dog, I do what I'm asked to do. And even though she shaved his dog down she still made the face look adorable!

I find it so calming to watch you groom. Most other grooming videos make me sad because the groomer is so hard handed with the dogs, but your touch is so gentle. This dog i so cute, although i do prefer scruffy looking havanese haha :)

So cute! To all of the naysayers - just because this dog is a Havanese doesn't mean it has to have the signature cut unless it's being put in a show. That's just ridiculous. I keep my Havanese short like this and he loves it and I think he's way cuter than with all of that hair. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

What a talent. Great job! Having the right tools helps, but without the talent their just tools. Due to Covid, I will now have to groom my Havanese. There's no way I'm going to get close this cut. I have a good Wahl shaver and some regular hair scissors--what I'll have to make due with. I'm just going to shave off some to get her hair under control. That and her underside has some matting and needs a little hygienic clean up. Great video. Thank you.
I have a Javanese also. I can imagine ti must be quite difficult to get.a perfect show dog cut so I think this one is cute and clean. If you want that show dog cut, you will have to shop around for sure. My dog has alopecia so there is not nearly the amount to cut but it's very fine, staticky and different lengths. He also has skin where most dog don't have as much and must be careful not to snip him around his ears, under arms, legs and other places. The worst complaint I have is that most groomers cannot get to that under the elbow and he always comes home with little knots and mats still under neath. Drives me crazy because I tried once myself to get those out and end up cutting him. It wasn't bad but it hurt me worse I think, will never try again.

I do not know what the back story is here. This is not a Havanese cut and not a summer cut for a Havanese. Havanese are a long hair breed and are bred for the tropics. Havanese hair insulates them in heat and protects their eyes in the sun. Shaving them (sometimes necessary due to matting) like this could cause them to overheat in the summer and is not recommended by most breeders as a summer cut.
Since Havanese dogs don’t shedd, there’s no need to groom that deep, and actually silky and long coat is a signature of Havanese breed
This is not a summer cut for a Havi. Good thing it will grow back.

I always do both of my Havanese face area. I bring them to a good groomer for the body area trim and nails. After picking up my babies with a hack job similar to this, I decided to do what I could myself and hunt for a good groomer. Very hard to find a good groomer and someone to trust with your babies.
In their defence maybe the owner is elderly or something and can't take care of the fur themselves? Or perhaps the owner asked for all off? Maybe the dog was matted to the skin? Perhaps a rescued pup? So many variables to consider.
These don't appear to be babies. These appear to be dogs. And if you read the comments you'd have read more than once that this is what the client wanted for their dog. Lastly, to me the dog looks comfortable and has gotten a great cut.

OMG! that is so short. Havanese naturally have long hair. That cut is like a poodle, doesn't even look like Havanese when done. And the chopped off ears .... ugh!

Just as a service to " the dog " you should maybe be conveying to your customers, that Havanese are double coated dogs and should not be shaved down. I get that you are just doing what customers ask for, but for them it's all about the money for grooming. Not always what's best for their dog. If they are not aware, then they think they are doing their dog a favour by getting rid of all their hair, when it's hot. I keep mine medium length year round. 🤔🤔

The music seems about right. Ominous. Why in gods name would you do this to a beautiful Havanese coat? Only if it’s severely matted should this be done. That is NOT a puppy cut. I sure hope the owners asked for this because it’s a shame to cut all his/her beautiful coat off. ☹️

Why aren’t you showing all your comments I am a dog lover & after reading some of the comments I just don’t understand why you have to be so rough on him. I am not a professional that is why I was watching your video so I could learn a little but you was to rough for me to watch. If I ever seen someone treat my baby like that I would turn them in it is uncalled for especially if you are a professional. You should not have to keep jumping from one side to the other & you should be able to get closer & stay there longer so we could possibly learn. Poor dogs can’t protect themselves or they pay a bad price. Humans have to get caught first. Oh I guess you was grooming a very aggressive Shih you so you get him before he get you. 😢 show him or her who is boss. I am praying for this situation.
