I have always believed that Guns N' Roses is not made up of ordinary people. After all, people involved in art cannot be ordinary. Creating such a masterpiece requires a different mindset. As someone who has been listening to rock since the age of 13, let me tell you: For me, bands like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, and Deep Purple are the kings of this genre, but Guns N' Roses, despite being one step behind them, is like a deity. When I listen to "Estranged," I scare myself; I detach from this world, and a multitude of emotions, including rebellion, parade through my mind. I believe these guys are the interpreters of our innermost feelings, our loves, and the pains of unrequited love. I have tremendous respect for them, no matter what they do. Their ability to break the chains that the majority can in no way succeed to break, to refuse to live within the limits imposed by the world; that's the real reason for my admiration! Because they enable me to endure living in this filthy and disgusting world by experiencing emotions that sometimes make my heart swell, sometimes make me sob uncontrollably, and sometimes make me grit my teeth in rebellion. Axl Rose is a truly special person. His soul is different; he possesses a level of understanding and creative capacity that surpasses most people in the world. Perhaps the pains he experienced since childhood shaped him into who he is, who knows. In fact, every member of this band is special. Creating, conceptualizing, and orchestrating a song like this requires a strong emotional foundation. "Estranged" has at least three different sections. It varies according to the story it tells. The musicality seduces you. The extraordinary success and lyricality in the transitions between passages leave you completely stunned. Of course, the main factor is Axl. I don't know if anyone else could have performed this song as successfully as he did. Axl truly lived those emotions. Just as he painted a picture of melancholy in "November Rain" and made us feel the pain of separation as if we were stepping on broken glass in "This I Love," in "Estranged," he forcefully presents us with pure loneliness and the chill of death. With those twelve magical notes, he pins me and many others to the ground. With wide-open eyes, listening to this music, you can't help but think, "While they create such magnificent music, just look at what I'm doing," and you find yourself feeling disgusted by everything around you, as if you're a bug in front of them. You want to escape from everything, climb to the clouds, and just run, run, run while listening to music... Sometimes, without any particular destination, my wife and I used to drive around in our car. "November Rain" or "Estranged" would be playing at full volume on the car stereo. I would try to hide my tears, but then I would look and see that my wife's eyes were filled with tears... We would embrace each other. A year ago, she just died, left me, abandoned me. Now the songs brought to life by Axl Rose have taken on a different meaning in my eyes; it feels like my wife's soul is living in those songs. When I listen to "This I Love," it feels like she will jump out of the laptop screen and sit next to me, gently caressing my hair. But it doesn't happen... I'm roughly the same age as Axl, maybe he is a few years younger than me. I have been following him since my early youth. He is a sensitive and delicate soul, which is why I used to fear that something similar to Kurt Cobain's senseless and foolish suicide would happen to Axl. He has aged and gained weight a bit, but he is still an amazing person. I hope he lives long and continues to create. My admiration, respect, and love for him seem like they will never end. If I hear that he has died, I think something inside me will also die... I hope I die first...
Wow man...that was beautiful...I'm crying now at those amazing prose...a man after my own ❤,...deeply sorry for the loss of your wife...but she's waiting for you in heaven, and with and around you every day...god bless brother...💯👌✊️👊🤟
This song makes me tear up and I don't even understand why. Maybe because it is just such a masterpiece, or because of the themes of loss, loneliness and regret, which resonates with all of us as we get older. I remember listening to it when I was 28 as he sang about being 28, and now I am 52 and I still love it just as much and it hits me just as hard.
listen Guns since my 13's, now im 26 and this song always make me think about the calmest and wildest side of life. such a masterpiece reflection song from my favorite Band.
This is the best song Guns 'N Roses has ever written. The song is about Axls breakdown of his marriage with Erin Everly and how he didn't want it to die.
LYRICS: When you're talkin' to yourself And nobody's home You can fool yourself You came in this world alone (Alone) So nobody ever told you baby How it was gonna be So what'll happen to you baby Guess we'll have to wait and see One, two Old at heart but I'm only twenty eight And I'm much too young To let love break my heart Young at heart but it's getting much too late To find ourselves so far apart I don't know how you're s'posed to find me lately An what more could you ask from me How could you say that I never needed you When you took everything Said you took everything from me Young at heart an it gets so hard to wait When no one I know can seem to help me now Old at heart but I musn't hesitate If I'm to find my own way out Still talkin' to myself And nobody's home (Alone) So nobody ever told us baby How it was gonna be So what'll happen to us baby Guess we'll have to wait and see When I find out all the reasons Maybe I'll find another way Find another day With all the changing seasons of my life Maybe I'll get it right next time An now that you've been broken down Got your head out of the clouds You're back down on the ground And you don't talk so loud An you don't walk so proud Any more, and what for Well I jumped into the river Too many times to make it home I'm out here on my own, an drifting all alone If it doesn't show give it time To read between the lines 'Cause I see the storm getting closer And the waves they get so high Seems everything we've ever known's here Why must it drift away and die I'll never find anyone to replace you Guess I'll have to make it through, this time - oh this time Without you I knew the storm was getting closer And all my friends said I was high But everything we've ever known's here I never wanted it to die
You can shred a guitar with all the right notes and scale but if it doesn't evoke emotions its meaningless! Love every part of the guitar solo by Slas, lyric, composition and Axls singing what a ride
Saw them in September 2023...they were phenomenal! They played this song and it was amazing hearing it live! I had to get it on video. One of my all time favorite Guns N Roses song!
"So nobody ever told you baby, how it was gonna be?" Estranged is about having to live with the fact that the thing you want most is now completely unattainable.
Axl was my age when he wrote this masterpiece and because of what I have gone through in my romantic relationship I feel identified with his lyrics after so many years without paying attention to the lyrics of this song and out of nowhere I look for it and I feel it, the same thing he felt when he wrote it at the time, the twists and turns that life takes are incredible, damn it .🤘🤘
I used to listen to this song and songs in the album 1 and 2 a lot when I was lost, and alone. Now “I found my way out”, or rather, the way out found me when I couldn’t take it anymore and found myself screaming the name of Jesus from the top of my lungs. And like lightning a fire in the darkness peace arrived. Now five 5 years later I come back listening to the part that used to be my favourite (starting from “when I find out all the reasons..), but I feel unable to reach there because the sound of the song now feels disturbing to my ears.. I don’t know why.. maybe I have been used to being extremely peaceful..
We were waiting on you the whole time. Once you finally got over yourself, good things happened . I'm still out there. But I encourage others. I'm not ready just yet. But I know and live it. That's why I'm here.
When you're talkin' to yourself And nobody's home You can fool yourself You came in this world alone Alone So, nobody ever told you, baby How it was gonna be What'll happen to you, baby Guess we'll have to wait and see One, two, three Old at heart, but I'm only 28 And I'm much too young to let love break my heart Young at heart, but it's getting much too late To find ourselves so far apart I don't know how you're supposed to find me lately And what more could you ask from me? How could you say that I never needed you When you took everything Said you took everything from me Young at heart, and it gets so hard to wait When no one I know can seem to help me now Old at heart, but I mustn't hesitate If I'm to find my own way out Still talkin' to myself And nobody's home Alone So, nobody ever told us, baby How it was gonna be So, what'll happen to us, baby? Guess we'll have to wait and see When I find out all the reasons Maybe I'll find another way Find another day With all the changing seasons of my life Maybe I'll get it right next time And now that you've been broken down Got your head out of the clouds You're back down on the ground And you don't talk so loud And you don't walk so proud Anymore, and what for? One of my favorite GNR songs. Such a shame the band had to implode. Imagine the music we could have gotten if they could have held it together like Metallica has. Love the line in the Behind the music episode...."Fueled by non stop drug abuse, and outrageous egos, it took just a few short years for the band to turn their guns on each other." Couple of good lines from the that episode, including the opening line..."Profane and powerful, Guns and Roses rescued rock and roll with a unique sound built from life on the edge." And the last line..."No matter what the future holds, the band's legacy will live on. For six unforgettable years, they pillaged the music world, and remade rock and roll in their own decadent image."
This one is up there with Bohemian rhapsody, Stairway to heaven, and dream on, but far underrecognized.
Forgive father. For they do not know what they are saying.
Man, Slash is flawless, so smooth from one amazing solo to the next, subtle without dominating the song. Brilliant.
Apprently this is the song he said was hardest to play

It's so good and no one can find words to describe it, even guns n roses.
LYRICS:
When you're talkin' to yourself
And nobody's home
You can fool yourself
You came in this world alone
(Alone)
So nobody ever told you baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to you baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see
One, two
Old at heart but I'm only twenty eight
And I'm much too young
To let love break my heart
Young at heart but it's getting much too late
To find ourselves so far apart
I don't know how you're s'posed to find me lately
An what more could you ask from me
How could you say that I never needed you
When you took everything
Said you took everything from me
Young at heart an it gets so hard to wait
When no one I know can seem to help me now
Old at heart but I musn't hesitate
If I'm to find my own way out
Still talkin' to myself
And nobody's home
(Alone)
So nobody ever told us baby
How it was gonna be
So what'll happen to us baby
Guess we'll have to wait and see
When I find out all the reasons
Maybe I'll find another way
Find another day
With all the changing seasons of my life
Maybe I'll get it right next time
An now that you've been broken down
Got your head out of the clouds
You're back down on the ground
And you don't talk so loud
An you don't walk so proud
Any more, and what for
Well I jumped into the river
Too many times to make it home
I'm out here on my own, an drifting all alone
If it doesn't show give it time
To read between the lines
'Cause I see the storm getting closer
And the waves they get so high
Seems everything we've ever known's here
Why must it drift away and die
I'll never find anyone to replace you
Guess I'll have to make it through, this time - oh this time
Without you
I knew the storm was getting closer
And all my friends said I was high
But everything we've ever known's here
I never wanted it to die
It's a lyric video moron
Blud thought he was doing us a favor 💀💀

Guns and Roses marco mi infancia, escucharlos fue genial, aun a mis 41 años me parecen super estupendos

Great song
September 2024. Listening on my birthday to one of the most beautiful and underrated songs!
Yep, my fave GNR song.
Yeahhh!
This song is life, it tells a piece of life of everyone us, and it fit perfecly in a moment of everyone of us life....❤️❤️❤️
Maybe the best lyrics ever! Guns are incredible band, genius sound!
Best song ever ❤ too much passion and power in this lyrics
我觉得这首歌用两个字就能形容,那就是“完美”.
Si duda una de sus mejores canciones❤
