Sydney Light Rail Vlog 83
Our brand new CAF Urbos 100 Light Rail Vehicles are now taking passengers.
This video gives everyone a look inside and outside these new vehicles including some travel as we head from Central to Dulwich Hill and back.
These 4 new vehicles are numbered 2125 through to 2128 and will run the L1 Dulwich Hill Line

Great video! New vehicles look great and love the displays. So glad to hear Taylor! I wish Sydney Metro would use Taylor for announcements on the metro, would be way more professional than what they have now.
I kind of like the "unprofessionalism" of the Sydney Metro announcements
sydney metro announcement sounds very bogan
do you like the kid's voices on the canberra tram?@@mariachrzski18
Now they do on some sets
Now they do!
soo cool to see, and I like they taylor Owens dva's
The L2 and L3 has that announcement the was originally from the B-Line. The next ferry announcement is the same thing too.
I was surprised and happy to hear Taylor :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs IMO the voice doesn't matter so much as the content of the announcements. The previous announcements had useful information as to what points of interest or interchanges could be found at particular stops. For example, Norton Street in Leichhardt. Bus routes at other stops, etc. Shame that wasn't kept.
I was planning on going on the L1 for plans my family and I had and to know that these are now in service makes me more than happy to go out.
nice!!!, I will go check it out next week, I haven't been on sydney lightrail in months.
I don’t know if they are in service on weekends at the moment but you should see them any weekday :)
nice! I dont travel on weekends anyway@@sydneytrainsvlogs
I managed to catch one yesterday. Nice luck!
3:57 You got really close to getting left behind 😂.
The new Urbos 100’s look really good though. No more fuzzy dot matrix which is good.
So so sooo close lol
I like them more than any of the others we have :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs what happened to the other ones
They're much like our trams in UK #midlandmetro
Cool
Excellent video Phil and I don't know how you managed to get a tram with so few people in it. I must ride this line on my next visit to Sydney.
Cheers mate! :)
I was so lucky i guess.
I was actually worried i wouldn’t be able to get any footage due to the amount of people but it all turned out good :)
The word you are looking for Phil is taper. The bottom of the urbos 100's taper inward.
Yes that’s the one! I was trying to think of it but my brain went blank when i was talking about it :)
Sitting in one heading home to Dulwich Hill as I watch 😅 I thought it looked a bit different 😅
Good video mate
Very nice! Hopefully these ones don’t have cracking issues
The problem would have been rectified :)
Interesting Canberra also has urbos and when doors close there is an audible announcement. Here in Sydney it is just the beeps. Not sure why.
Hey Phil close one at approximately 3:54. Lucky you made it!
Nice video! I wonder if the Alstom trams will still be running, and if so, will be updated with the new announcements!
No they won't as they'll return to the L2 & L3.
Cheers Phil!
No worries mate :)
Thank you for watching!
Noice and another cool video.
Thanking you :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs no worries.
What tram do you prefer?
Alstom 305
Urbos 3
Urbos 100
Variotrams (not used)
Urbos 2 (returned to spain)
I like the Alstom 305 :)
Thanks very much. they look lovely. Was hoping you would do a shot behind the driver indicating the ramp behind him/her. Hopefully, they will extend all the platforms and add extra cars to each tram. I have been on a few crowded trams. Perhaps even improve access for power chairs. i have mentioned the day I took my wife in her power chair out to Dulwich Hill and there was no mention of a ramp to get her off. We just came back to Central.
No problem :)
That is something i’ll have to look at when i am on one of the newbies next.
It’d be good if the L1 was like the L2/3 where the gap is so minimal that anything can seamlessly roll from the LRV to the platform or vise versa.
Maybe that is something they can upgrade in the future as well as lengthening the platforms :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs Hi, yeah we did good on the trip to Kingsford. We did not stop, just got off and back on again. I have video of that I can share after a bit more editing. It was in COVID days with all the "Sit Here" etc stickers on the windows, Sigh! By the way I just saw an ancient L1 trip I did and there WAS a RAMP behind the driver. My wife was not with me, that day.
CAF trams and trains seem to be having problems with cracking all over the world. Is this good money after bad?
Does is then allow the Alstom trams to be returned to L2/L3
Its kinda interesting how they have the same door tones as pretty much every new rail vehicle from any European manufacturer
Lol i noticed that! Very interesting indeed :)
Dose this mean that the alstom trams will get the new annoucments?
It HAS THE SAME GENDER OF THE L2
LINE OMFG 🙀
Lol
@@sydneytrainsvlogs i wonder ponder
Hi Phil, excellent video. These new trams looks quite impressive. Are these new trams restricted to the Dulwich Hill line or can they also be used on the Randwick and Kingsford lines? Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
I know I'm late but they will be used on the L1 Dulwich Hill line and will be the rolling stock for the upcoming Parramatta light rail.
I wonder if it comes cracks in the frame or is that a optional extra
Lol i think CAF would have learnt from their mistake and rectified the problem with the newbies :)
@@sydneytrainsvlogs hopefully they do look nice tho
Turbos?
Hi Phil I am very interested with your video and you had made me do video I love your video. And please think I am not being rude just saying you do some great videos l am a big fan
Hi there :)
Thank you so much for watching :)
No problem and thank you for making great videos
How do I know if my service will be an Urbos 3, Citadis 305 or Urbos 100?
An Urbos 100 has a white desto and the L1
@@alwaysyourfriend i mean will it show in anytrip or tripview
Nice to see vehicles with white LED destination displays on the network, I didn't actually know about this purchase until I watched this video. Didn't seem to be a lot of press around these vehicles, possibly to avoid associations with the issues with the current Urbos 3 vehicles...?
Look great both outside and in, but I'm not a fan of those square windows - vehicles designed with square windows are more prone to structural cracking, as happened with the De Havilland Comet back in the '50s.
@Microwaveblahblah : Those windows are probably safe enough . . . until they reach 20,000’.
Hi Phil when are you doing a meet and greet? 🎉🎉🎉
Hello! :)
That will take a lot of time to plan so i’m not 100% sure at the moment
Hopefully one day
Do the windows open? They seem to have a hinge at the top?
Sitting in one right now, there are hinges in a couple of windows but they have locks in them.
@@RaindancerAUperhaps emergency only
Does anyone in the planning department have any clue as to provide a PID that is actually easy toread. Again tiny black text on a white background becomes hard to read froma distance and in bright sunlight. The next stop and time are easier to read with the white text on a red background, so why on earth make the rest of the display colour reversed? Seems logical and user friendly practices are lacking in the transport world in NSW.
No more Alstoms on L1 in the future?
