Thanks for sharing: very informative. Blessings on your day.
Easily the most informative and useful video ever.
Phew that means a lot, thank you!
Thanks for that quick rundown on some decent apps - I hadn't seen Hazel before, but it looks great so I'll definitely have a look at it - thanks as always.👏
You're welcome! Hazel is a sneaky great app
There are some awesome suggestions in here, thank you! Grabbed Pastel and Forecast and can't wait to put them to work!
Great picks!
Great video thanks for the tips!
You’re welcome!
love this list, im def check out some,
1. also tip for the hazel screenshot, you can do that natively on mac os cmd+shift+5 > options > save to other location, an manually choose thats how i select my screenshot folder in a download folder.
2. loopback alternative is soundsource, you can output audio based on application or audio port such as wired headphones vs bluetooth headphones
Great list, I would add Alfred. It is a must have for any Mac user.
Velja is also another great tool.
wow, That is AWESOME Shephe, you have covered all THE most Needed tools for a Productive Work for 2024! Awesome Video and Tips , Keep rockin.
Glad you enjoyed it! Appreciate it 🙏
Forgot to ask you this, where do you get your T-shirts? they all look stunning on all your videos. Could you please send a link of that?Thank you@@beardfm .
Straight forward, no-fluff, well-produced and always a new workflows/apps/information to explore... you have the best Apple content on RUclips!
Please keep making videos!
Appreciate it so much, I plan to!
Elephas AI is a great tool if you are looking for an AI layer on top of your Mac.
I use Elephas a lot. It is the only app that supports adding my own data to AI. I first tried MacGPT but ended up with Elephas for the reason mentioned.
Very useful info!
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks! Are these built-in apps or do we have to buy them on the app store?
Thank you very much for this wonderful content. Greetings from Türkiye :).
You're welcome, and amazing to have viewers across the world!
Amazing Stephen!! Thank you. So many great tips in there. -- I'm boring, I think my most (not favorite) used app is ... Notes. 🤣
Hey Notes is a great app!! Thanks for watching 🙏🏼
Super solid list, using a lot of these. Have you tried Klack?
thank you!
Welcome!
I'm biased, but Raycast is #1 😁
Haha great app!
By far my favorite app since getting my first Mac in 2022. Every one of these videos I see, I wait for Raycast.
Hazel it’s amazing!
Yes! Love Hazel
Great video. Would Spotlight be able to show you the path of found items?
Man’s mastered the art of productivity Honeslty pretty blown away
Appreciate that 🙏🏻
Good job!
Thanks!
I use Bartender to organize my menu bar...hide certain apps, show always, etc. With all the app you have in your menu bar, looks like you could use it! :)
haha I've used in the past, may need to try it again
Use Raycast to save some apps, including the clipboard, spotlight, text expander and palette!
Need to take a closer look at Raycast 👀
@@beardfm raycast is the GOAT mac app
Great video! For Creator's Best Friend, you can actually just drag your project into the CBF application and it will automatically spit out the chapter markers. Could save you a step from exporting to XML! You probably didn't but just wanted to pass that along.
Thanks for this! Had no idea
I don’t understand why you got hate for this video being clickbait. 🤷 I had an only ever heard of 3 of these .. cleanshot x and hazel were gamecha gets for me! Seriously thanks! That was quite a helpful video. For me atleast. Cheers 👍🏻
Great video - appreciate the ideas! Kinda surprised you're not an Alfred guy. That's the first thing that goes on any new mac I'm setting up! Hidden Bar also is quite handy to organize the top of my screen. Instead of text expander I use aText, which I bought for $5 a few years ago and kept the older version so I don't have to pay subscription pricing but if that wasn't an option, text expander would be my next reluctant choice. Alfred does text expansion but I've not explored that much because haven't needed that part of it yet....
I used to be a Quicksilver guy! But then spotlight got so good I just use that instead. Hidden Bar is another utility I've looked in to, I've tried Bartender, but eventually I try to limit the amount of third party utilities and those are the first to go, especially on a desktop when I have plenty of menu bar space.
Alfred at first glance looks like a simple replacement for Spotlight. But real power is in its Workflows (requiring paid registration). Then possibilities are endless! There is a huge library for literally anything.
@@Jarek.I prefer raycast eliminates a lot of other apps that I don’t need clogging my device
@@LilJoe3 Yeah, endless debate: Raycast vs Alfred 😀I found in the Internet this summary, which I agree 100%: "It seems to me the general difference is: power users (i.e., the folks who care most about getting things done as efficiently as possible) tend to gravitate towards Alfred. Conversely, users who just have a small handful of specific things they want to be easier tend to pick Raycast, for the extensions that handle their use cases. (Again, however: Alfred’s beginning to catch up on that front.)
I’d generally agree there. I really hope the gap between these two apps closes a bit more. I’d love for Raycast to be faster, and for its paid plans to be more affordable long-term. Conversely, I’d love for Alfred to have a better product experience around adding new workflows and customizing them."
Nice apps! I use a lot of shortcuts too. Also, I use a lot of key combination presses, to run shortcuts (shift-control-command + letter/number), open web pages (shift control option), run apps (control option command), open folders (control option). The three-modifier + key combo can be a bit of a pain. The build-in keyboard shortcut options (either through keyboard setting or Shortcuts) doesn't seem to treat the right-command or right-option keys as different from their left counterparts. So I use an app called Karabiner - it is a treasure - allows almost limitless remapping of any key or combination or the trackpad presses. So I remap left control-option-command to right command. I have also experimented with a three finger trackpad touch to the same. Though, initially, I downloaded it because on my Das Keyboard, the function keys acted like function keys, and I couldn't figure out how to make them do the Apple Mac control options (brightness, sound etc). Toggling function to control in Settings works for the built-in Apple keyboard, but not the Das keyboard. So Karabiner has some built-in remapping, such as remapping function keys to control keys. That leads me onto something else - the remapping can be device-specific. So I guess you could use an external keyboard as a customisable shortcut board, rather than a keyboard.
Some great recommendations, will check some of these out!
I liked this - would be useful to include the price in these videos
As prices change over time (but I can't change this video) I'm always hesitant to include them, but maybe I can specify when something is a one-time purchase, vs. subscription, etc.
that would be great! @@beardfm
Great collection, but I would add Alfred app and Default Folder as well.
Default folder? I’ll have to check that one out
I’m only at No. 5 and I want them all already!
They really are my daily-used apps!
re: Hazel and screenshots. You can just set a folder for screenshots when you hit cmd+shift+5 and go to options. You don't need a separate app.
That was just in easy example to illustrate. Obviously it's much more powerful, can deal with any file type, folder, etc.
You easily replace 5-6 apps mentioned here with Raycast.
Can one use Audio Hijack to record phone interviews for podcasting?
You can! Although I would recommend riverside.fm for that 😉
Top tip for Creator's Best friend at 5:20, you can just drag the project directly into the window to generate the chapters rather than exporting the XML,
🤯🤯 amazing! Thank you
How about Raycast and Arc browser? 🙂
I'll have to check those out! Tried Arc but Safari is still my go-to
Thank you for this great video!
Glad it was helpful!
Raycast = All in One/🐐 for me. But I know you can’t make a Top 10 etc if you only list that one app 😂
new to mac os. i noticed windows doesnt have google mobile apps. is there a lot of mobile apps for this device? does it have youtube, gmail, netflix, and yahoo mobile app?
The Mac doesn't have native apps for many of those services, it would be expected to access them through Safari the web browser.
@@beardfm oh ok i thought mac os has edge over windows interms of mobile apps. thanks
@@user-li6ns2lk3z You can install many apps as a web-app, if you prefer. This will allow you to access websites like a normal application on your Mac
First as usual stephen!!
RAYCAST!! its spotlight but better...
Everyone keeps mentioned Raycast! Gotta check it out...
Please do! @@beardfm
You miss Raycast, which you can remove 3 or more apps from your list.
I'll have to give Raycast a try!
@@beardfm You can do the things in Rayscast with Alfred and alfred is generally faster, but set up of things is not as intuitive or takes a bit more time. Alfred is also a one and done payment, while Rayscast is yet another subscription service.
OMG I hate apps running in the background and/or a lot of shit in my menu bar. Except for a few very important apps like calendar etc. I don’t like clutter on my machine at all.
Bartender is a great Mac utility that can clean up the menu bar!
You said, “tap that app” 😂
Raycast
Not free
I moved back to windows within a year of using macbook. macOS is so overrated and lacks some very basic things.
God I hate cringe clickbait titles like this.
You knew about all of them??
😂
At least he didn’t say “I was wrong!”
your dedication for hating him is insane 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Same, I viewed 2 videos and now the feed is all with these types of videos. Just remove the history and restart.
I just wanted to learn what apple users use on a daily basis as software.
