    WOW! what a great set of PE. Not building Titanic at that scale, but will be watching your videos. Should be fun working with Woody on that PE.

    So exciting to watch! I didn't realise you had clients who requested these from your workshop, I need to keep this in mind as I would be very interested indeed :)

    Ben, thanks for the review. Great detail in those parts. Can't wait to see you install them on the model.

    Man talk about stepping through a wormhole of altered states. Started out just wanting to build 1 Titanic with Pontos after market parts. Now look at you? Very impressive transition into a major programming project build! Fantastic job bud!!👍🏻👍🏻😎

    While the model doesn't interest me as much as others, the techniques you use in construction is fascinating! Thank you for the videos.

      Thanks! This isn’t a subject that I get excited about either. But the building is fun and it’s leading the way in technology that should make warships VERY interesting to build in the future.

    I really love your videos. When i get home from school i cant wait to see them. Thank you for all you do. I was just wondering if you could do the minicraft titanic model it is about 30 in. and compare the accuracy to the trumpeter titanic.

      Thanks Konner. Maybe after the titanic build. When you start several models at once, it makes it difficult to finish any one model.

    I've also been monitoring The Model Boat Guy and NIgel. The Model Boat Guy is a little further advanced in his build. The concern I have is with Scale Decks wooden decks. It is my understanding, unlike other wooden decks, is the Scale Decks goes under the bulkheads. Thus adding a little height to each deck height relative to side walls. The Model Boat Guy accounts for this by scratch building the boat deck with thinner styrene than kit provided deck. In theory to bring everything back into alignment. As your build progresses, I would appreciate more details on this subject as you progress. The thought of adding the Boat Deck and A deck sides after the decks are built and installed, might allow for some wiggle room.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  3 года назад +1

      That makes sense and I’ve watched some of The Model Boat Guy’s build. My plan was if the bulk head sits on the decks at all, I’m just going to cut away that part of the deck so it sits on the styrene again. But I’ll try to make a point of sharing my experience with this as we progress.

    I'm definitely looking forward to seeing you install these photo etched parts on your model. They look extremely nice, and they seem like they're going to be easy to install.

    Excellent review Ben. By chance my ibeam set(s) from Woody's turned up today too. I didn't think I would need the superstructure walls as I already have the Scale the Titanic parts but your video looks like it's convincing me otherwise given the height isn't correct. Will be very interested to see how you install these to act as a guide, I'm particularly interested how you fill the gap around the boat deck so these thinner photo-etch sides attach securely and in line. Hopefully the ibeam set helps but I guess we still need to pack the plastic deck with extra material too.

    If you're looking at building a Victory at some point I highly suggest waiting for Amati's 1/64 kit. It's still in prototyping at the moment but it's the most accurate and probably the easiest kit thanks to how Chris Watton has designed it. Probably 2-3 years out but will be worth it

    • @TheMidwestModelShop

      That sounds like its worth the wait. Thank you for that info!

      @@TheMidwestModelShop no problem! James Hutch over at ModelShipWorld forum is doing the final prototype build for Amati and the pictures for the instruction manual. You can follow along with his build to see it come together. He has started but there's an issue with some parts on Amatis end, plus covid delays. Still from memory he had the framing together on his last update.

    Ben, Thanks for the review, I like the idea of al-la-cart, however, there are a lot of modelers who when the model came out purchased either the MK1, Pontos or both, like me. Then came Elixander and yes I purchased his also, China 3D will not purchase; cost and ordering, and now Woodys, which I will probably pick up. The cost of a finished Titanic is going to be well over two thousand dollars US! What are we going to do when some one comes out with a corrected hull kit, whoa get your saw out boys and girls. I am not complaining, goodness knows the modeling community is some what tired of numerous re-pops of the same tank, ship, and airplane. This model is a breath of fresh air, I hope we do not kill it with massive after market parts.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  3 года назад

      I agree. This kit was unique because of the timing of its release. I know there are a lot of modelers out there who haven’t bought this kit yet, but want to. So it’s really for them. I hear what you’re saying though about all of the time extra options out there. It’s frustrating when you’ve already spent so much. But that’s kind of the nature of this hobby.

    I don't mind of after market kits, I'm on at 2,000 $ canadian bucks now, with the books suggested by Ben, and the KA kit and the Ebay RC motor kit, plus the RC controller that I bought from a local hobby Shop. And I will surely add the Woody's kit. I'm in for a year to complete this model!

    Just a wee thought for Woody, while this is still in development: would it not be a good idea to make the sheet numbers match the deck numbers? If that's not practical, make the sheets numbered, rather than lettered, maybe jut a tad less likely to cause confusion, with "deck A on sheet C"etc.

    • @TheMidwestModelShop
      @TheMidwestModelShop  3 года назад

      That's a good idea. But really, its hard to mess up the placement of these parts. As far as I can tell, they just won't fit on the wrong deck.
