I remember this show, and those terrible advertisements. I avoided this show for 13 years because of those commercials, advertisements, and stingers. 2 years ago I finally bought season one on Ebay and have been so sorry ever since for stupidly avoiding this incredible show. I guess that's how good the advertising was, it didn't spoil anything. It didn't even give you an idea what this show as about. I was so wrong to judge this show before actually watching it.

If anyone in the comments doesn't know this show or couple, it's Spashley from South of Nowhere. One of very few televised Lesbian couple from the 2000s that changed how our generation saw same-sex couples. It's a great love story that I advise everyone to watch.

Did you see the 2 part short film series writer and director of the pilot Nancy Lee Myatt did in 2011? It brought back a lot of the cast, and the writing especialy for Spenser and Ashley was so good. The short films are on the RUclips channel Southofnowhereonline; it was started and ran by Nancy lee Myatt herself unfortunately she hasn't uploaded in a while. Once in a blue moon she might post a comment. Her and the cast definitely want to do more.
The short films were a pitch to Mtv, but they declined. 2 years later Faking It happened.

their chemistry is soo goooooood, and their story is so relatable, I looooved this couple, and the tv show was also quite groundbreaking at the time, not online with representing a lesbian couple, also with representing the black community and racism.

I see a lot of lesbian couples and TV and usually one of them is masc and it still divides in my head like…I don’t see her as a girl really…but it’s just my problem, I know that I still divide world on black and white and I work on it…
Anyway I really love the fem on fem representation cuz I am a feminine

And…this kind of representation also has to exist
To show the world that lesbians love girls, not just girls that are boylike with their style and attitude we love fem on fem!!!

That was the first lesbian show I saw and I was 13 back then. The internet was still limited and I had to search for ages then download a single 20min episode for 10h+. Worth every minute of it to this day. It helped me grew up, learn who I am, and accept it and deal with my first love.
It will be awesome to see a reboot of Spashley 15 years now in time!

I first watched this show when I was still questioning my sexual orientation and it helped me a lot during my teen years, I will be forever grateful for SON and Spashley they were one of my first ships lol I even used to ill3galy download the eps hahahahah
I love this, it randomly came up in my recommendations. This show holds a special place in my heart. I watched it in high school and it helped me realize I was gay. Later in college when I came out as ftm in 2011, I picked the name Spencer because of this show and how it represented my identity. I realized later I wasn't ftm, I didn't get it then because I never heard the term nonbinary/genderqueer until like 2014. Now years later I identify as a nonbinary masc leaning lesbian, and the name Spencer fits me perfectly because it reminds me of my femininity and love of women, but to the outside world it fits more with my masc identity as lots of ppl don't recognize Spencer as gender neutral. So it's almost like my own little authentic secret. Idk long comment, but this video hit me in the feels! You don't see a lot of Spashley nowadays.

I remember watching this when it first came out up to the ending. It was such a good show that needed far too soon. I was lucky to have been able to be there from the beginning. I’ve met the actors and they’re all so sweet!

I grew up watching this show and it was one of the only lgbt centered teen targeted show at that time (2005-2008) and it broke me when the N (now teen nick) canceled the show after 3 (short) seasons bc they wanted to “go another direction” like this show dealt with so much and is highly underrated. It deserved better...spashley 4 life

I used to watch South of Nowhere after I watched Degrassi the Next Generation. I didn’t mind watching them kiss and I thought that Spencer was absolutely beautiful and gorgeous! Idk how I didn’t figure out sooner I wasn’t straight 😅😂🙃

South Of Nowhere is like The L Word in a sense because they were both groundbreaking. There was no other teen show in 2005 that had a lesbian lead and a bisexual lead that became a couple. I live in the Philippines and there's nothing like that in my country at that time and even now. I think that representation really matters and Spashley definitely helped a lot of girls come out and that includes Shannon Beveridge.
