I never get tired of these performance! Three guys pushing 60 at the end of a 3 hour show. This song is from 1974 and they changed it up with doing the reggae intro. I would suggest listening to the studio version as well. Both are bangers!
Geddy Lee the vocalist plays the bass.
    Alex Lifeson is the guitarist.
    Brilliant Performance!

Rush is probably the biggest name Band to ever come out of Canada, their hit list is damn near bottomless. I think most likey my favorite Rush Song is "Trees", it is totally a metaphor, as Geddy said in an interview, its about the USA over shadowing Canada and Canada wants respect and recognition.

    Red Barchetta.
    An old friend of mine.
we were "enemies" as he moved into neighborhood. childish bs. But then. In 6th grade English, we had to do a report on a Ballad. We all chose classics of what the public system told us was a ballad. UNTIL...
Mike read his report on "Red Barchetta. "
    Everyone was blown away.
Rush was one of my favorite bands at the time. Of course, we became friends.

Cleveland is important to Rush and the song "Working Man" made it so - a song a working town understood and embraced... it was a Cleveland radio station which played the song once really late at night and people responded calling into the station asking about it, so it got more air-play. It literally gave Rush recognition and notoriety and a growing fan base, from then on they were able to keep making records.

    I'm NOT an 808 fan.

Glad you liked it! First concert I went to was Rush. 1981 in Dallas (Moving Pictures tour). My friend's brother stood in line all night to get tickets--we got 2nd row in front of Alex, and it cost $10. I was a 14 year old girl, and my friends were 15 (4 of us)-we thought we were cool because we all wore white tube tops. Lol. Pat Travers was in front of us in 1st row & some guy brought him a grocery bag full of weed. I saw them again in 2012 in Dallas, but unfortunately, not 2nd row (or Pat Travers!).

Perhaps not a surprise that Alex has suffered arthritis in his fingers, eh?
ps - that little part at the end is from Cyrus X-1, Book I (which was the last track on Farewell to Kings (1976)). Both it and Book II (which was the first track on 1978's Hemispheres album) were beyond epic.

RUSH LIVE……I was lucky enough to see one of the last shows before Neil died at SPAC N.Y. Simply the most talented three man band ever. Incredible performances every time. “In eight years I’ll be seventy one, I can play Charlie Watts drum parts when I’m seventy one, I can’t play Neil Peart’s drum parts when I’m seventy one” - Neil Peart at sixty three.

Please listen to the original album version; this reggae beginning is only meant to charm the audience and switch things up, but it doesn't represent the song as it was recorded. Part of the genius of Rush was to both fuck with certain audiences who didn't "get" them, and confuse haters while STILL delivering music that eclipsed their rivals.

If you get a chance, listen to the album version. They added the Reggae - Funk intro is some live performances just to have a bit of fun. This time they took it a long way into the song and had a few folks in the audience kinda worried they were really doing something with this tune! LOL
Oh, and by the way, they were all in their 60's in this video.

Jeez, I'm the one who suggested it. I gave him the link and said he had to do the live version. My opinion is different though. I love the studio version, but that blows me away. Don't get mad at him for my suggestion...maybe you can become a patreon member and give him yours. There are some that I do prefer the studio version, but so many Rush songs are just as good if not better live in my opinion like with Exit Stage Left. Not just Rush either... if I suggested UFO, I'd say to do it from the Strangers in the Night album.
