Far above, enthroned in glory, Sweetest Saint of Erin’s Isle. See thy children kneel before thee, Turn on us a mothers smile. Sancta Mater, hear our pleading, Faith and hope and holy love. Sweet Saint Brigid, Spouse of Jesus, Sent to us from heaven above. Sweet Saint Brigid, all thy children, Far and near, o’er land and sea. ‘Mid the world and in the cloister Fondly turn with love to thee. Sancta Mater, soothe the mourner, Shield the weary tempted soul, Sweet Saint Brigid, guide thy children, To that bright and happy home.
If someone's name us Jose, you don't pronounce it "Josie," you pronounce it "Ho-zay." Names are correctly pronounced as the person their self would pronounce it. My name is Seraphim If I got to visit Russia, I don't change the pronunciation to Serakhim as they would say the word. In a like manner, it's incorrect to say Brigid as "brijid." Does that make sense?
Southlander1000 No you idea makes no sense. Women around the world pronounce it Bridget and so do churches names after the saint. The song is in English and so is her name.
Far above, enthroned in glory,
Sweetest Saint of Erin’s Isle.
See thy children kneel before thee,
Turn on us a mothers smile.
Sancta Mater, hear our pleading,
Faith and hope and holy love.
Sweet Saint Brigid, Spouse of Jesus,
Sent to us from heaven above.
Sweet Saint Brigid, all thy children,
Far and near, o’er land and sea.
‘Mid the world and in the cloister
Fondly turn with love to thee.
Sancta Mater, soothe the mourner,
Shield the weary tempted soul,
Sweet Saint Brigid, guide thy children,
To that bright and happy home.
Let all mortal flesh keep silence
Lovely!

:)
I really like the song, but Brigid is pronounced "breed," not "brijid."
In Gaelic it is or Irish. The name in English is correct in the song.
Since St. Brigid is Irish, we ought to used the Irish pronunciation.
Southlander1000 Then why are you talking to me in English? :) The man sang the song in English so the name should match the rest of the song.
