It really just comes down to practice. Occasionally, I'll remove the ink cartridge if the flow is too high, or even wipe off excess on scrap paper. But hand/eye coordination is at the heart of it. That being said, I used to use the brush for everything, but now I'll use a pen if all I need are thin lines. Just depends what you're going for. Any tips on making the pentel brush pen do thinner lines? I’ve been practicing with it but the lines are often thicker than I hope for
