In this video I show you and advise you on how to make a wooden Minerva McGonagall wand!
From turning the main shape on my wood turning lathe from a beautiful piece of ash wood. Then continuing to use the lathe to refine the handle and shaft shapes of the wand. Then using a rotary tool to refine the shapes further and using sand paper to sand the entire wand smooth. Then painting and weathering the wand and finally varnishing the wand with clear satin wood varnish! :-)

@@marquezjeffers7171 Ah that is a very hard one! Not to give anything away.........but I've made one but the video hasn't been released yet! It's the maddest design. I really wonder who they got to design some of the wands because they're shapes I wouldn't dream of 😮😄🤟
@@DRRCreations Sweet! 😁 I've always thought it looked like a stork with its head pointing down and the feet wraps around it at the end. Very complicated and cool!
@@marquezjeffers7171 Yeh the design didn't make sense to me at first and then as you say I suddenly realized it was supposed to be a bird and the design looks incredible 🤩🤟

A WONDERFUL reproduction! I’ve made this wand a few times. It’s interesting that some of the wands that appear simple are way from it. On the wobbling thing. I investigated into a stabilizer that (basically) has three rubber skate wheels securing the wand at three points. It definitely helps, but in the end, for the final thinning I find I use a basic dremel with a sanding drum. I’m not a mechanical engineer, but it seems the rotation of the dremel helps stabilize the wand shaft. Still, wand making isn’t easy, and is at times dangerous. Keep the videos coming!
Thank you so much 😀🤟 Yeh I've been caught out several times so far by wands that are much harder to make than I thought 😂 The stabilizer sounds quite an interesting proposition, your tip for using a sanding drum is great too, it's worked well for me in the past. I now find that if the wand starts to run out of true then to sand it by hand with heavy grit sand paper slowly returns it to a much better shape. Umm how about trying one with uhh nothing but natural sounds.
I would but the trouble is that the sound of the lathe doesn't come through on a time lapse file and the sound of the sanding speeded up is a crazy noise 😂🤟
Can you make a wand without using wood turning equipments
It doesnt look like the noble collections wand: no. Its actually BETTER than the noble collection cuz its made of wood and It looks amazing
