Bad Company - Shooting Star - Live at Wembley

- Опубликовано: 5 окт 2024
- Written by Paul Rodgers "Shooting Star" appears as track number 6 on the Straight Shooter album by Bad Company. Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke stated on In the Studio (which devoted an episode to Straight Shooter) that the track "Shooting Star" (written by lead singer, Paul Rodgers) was lyrically inspired by the drug and alcohol-related deaths of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.
Straight Shooter is the second studio album by the English supergroup Bad Company. The album was released on April 2, 1975, a month after the release of the single "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" and four months before the album's second single "Feel Like Makin' Love" (see 1975 in music).
The album reached number 3 in the UK Albums Chart and the US Billboard 200. It was certified gold (500,000 units sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America a month after its release. The album was remastered and re-released in 1994.

Lyrics:
Well Johnny was a schoolboy
When he heard his first Beatles song
'Love Me Do' I think it was
From then it didn't take him long
Got himself a guitar
Used to play every night
Now he's in a rock 'n' roll outfit
And everything's alright
Don't you know? Don't you know?
Johnny told his Mama
"Hey, Mama, I'm goin' away
I'm gonna hit the big time
Gonna be a big star someday"
Mama came to the door
With a teardrop in her eye
Johnny said, "Don't cry Mama
Smile and wave goodbye"
Don't you know?
Everybody, wave!
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Goodbye baby, yeah
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
And all the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
Well, Johnny made a record
Went straight up to number one
Suddenly everyone loved
To hear him sing the song
Watchin' the world go by
Surprisin' it goes so fast
Johnny looked around him and said, "Hey
I made the big-time, I made the big-time at last, yeah!"
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Shining on forever, somewhere with me
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
All the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
Hey
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Shining on
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
All the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
Now easy now
Well, well, well, well
Well, well
Well my friends, my story is near the end and I
I'm gonna sing the song
But I want you to sing along
I'm gonna sing the song
But I want you to sing along
Are you ready now?
Are you ready now?
That's good
Well Johnny died one night, died in his bed
A bottle of whiskey, sleeping tablets by his head
Johnny's life passed him by like a warm summer day
If you listen to the wind you can still hear him play
Don't you know? Don't you know? (Come on Wembley)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Don't you know? (I know)
Don't you know? (I know)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star? (Oh yeah, yeah)
Don't you know? (You got it)
Don't you know? (Let's do it again, come on)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star? (Oh yeah)
Don't you know? (Feels good)
Don't you know? (Big one)
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Don't you know? (Oh, yeah)
Play that with your heart and soul
Can't hear it, boy
Have mercy, baby
Mercy on me, babe
I like it
Can we hear it one more time?
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Baby, baby, baby...
I just want to sing it one more time now
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
Gotta shine on now, forever now
Don't you know that you are a shooting star?
All the world will love you just as long
Long as you are
A shooting star
Oh yeah

the song is about jimi hendrix
@@bennyv69I named my only Grandson, Hendrix. ❤
Yes he is. I been round this circle for a conclusion for about 4 years now. It came down to Robert plant, Burton Cummings, Joe cocker, n him. He's got it, hands down. 60 years, hasn't changed a tune or missed a note. He is the greatest.
love him but plant is the best, but who cares about 1 or 2 they both are the greatest in rock in my opinion. love both bands to me they are 1 and 2. love some led company.
one of the greatest songs of all time
Boy those musicians are lucky to have this singer
Alcohol, drugs, planes, helicopters..have taken so, so many excellent artists in many music genre, truly sad. An anthem to every one of them

This was my best friend's favorite Bad Company song from when we were in our mid-teens. Linda died in a house fire in 2011. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. 💔

Legendary 🏆
From the early days of Free through to Bad Company, Paul's voice i still so amazing. Fell in love many years ago
Just before "All Right Now" was released, Free were playing in Retford at a Ladies College. My friend and I went for a pint while the support group were on, We came back and four lads were playing football with a tennis ball in the tennis court. We joined in and after about ten minutes, they said "We've gotta go now, we're on". We got a mention from them, great days and gigs were fun and cheap!
it is amazing. I love him in The Firm with Paige too🤘
Happy birthday Paul Rodgers
always loved how these guys could get so much out of a minimalist sound, they weren't up there to noodle and do tricks, just great song writing and killer vocals, and don't let the minimalist sound fool you as a player, they are one of the hardest bands to cover.
The 2nd guitar with a guy like Howard Leese makes all the difference in the world.
The best version.
What a great singer Paul is
Best band ever
Wow!!!
Paul Rodgers created two of my favorite ROCK bands, Free and Bad Company. Free's "Alright Now" was the first real rock song I was introduced to by my Uncle.. he always introduced me to great music that was never playing in my house LOL... Free was the moment I fell in love with Rock, Bad Company got me through my twenties.
In 1974, after graduating high school, my friend left Oklahoma for a California road trip. When he returned, he brought Bad Co (first album) and told us 'this is what they're listening to in California'. Been a huge fan ever since. I have all their original vinyls.
Love how he had the projections of all the legends that died so young as the backdrop to the stage..❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Yes!!!! Super cool
He is one of the best vocalists of our time!
Superstar, you don't know, exactly, until you do, you'll know, ooohhh, yeahhhh🎉
Never have heard a bad company song that I didn't like.
Paul Rodgers is amazing and so is the band!!
Paul is the only person I've seen in concert 3 times with 3 different bands

Northeastern Ohio for me they played at my high school I was too young to fully appreciate the experience but will tell you my dear I am not Paul Rogers nor am I bad company I love to hear these guys play to this day
One of my memories is Feel like making love blasting through the speakers of a 1968 Camaro in 1975 in the high school parking lot
@Kieron Stump I have followed Bad Company since day one, and I would like to see a clip of them playing a high school in America !!! This is a Top Premiere band that has a unbelievable history in music. Not to mention Paul Rodgers happens to be in the very best line up of Vocalist in the world of Rock bands !! High schools don't have those type of venues. Paul Rodgers also was a hit with the band Free before Bad Company !!!
If you like bad company go back and check out the group free
I ❤ Bad Company and Paul Rodgers.

English please thank you brother amigo I know you know how to speak it give me the benefit of the doubt that you’re not stupid English please amigo
@@kieronstump Man... I'm Brazilian! The text is in Portuguese because I didn't want to comment in English, but in my language! Brazilians also like rock and Bad Campany!! There are hundreds of languages in the world and thousands of dialects and music, if it's good, regardless of the language, can deliver!
Mio familia del Azores, no nepsisa apologia por fala Portuguese. You are correct in that music, as well as it's love and appreciation comes in many languages. It is why they say "music" is the universal language. Show your love of it as you have done so passionately here. Muento bem, mi amigo!
Love Paul more than 50 years!!!
Love from Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹
Damn they sound so good. Still rocking.
One of my all time favorite songs by one of my all time favorite bands. I listened to this song yesterday while driving. I got to see Bad Company right before COVID. Paul is amazing. A singer's singer. Love Mick's playing too.
I wish Mick could still play. I don't think Bad Co sounds the same without him and Boz
Makes me cry I am a BIGBOY
