Helly doing it in the elevator is sending a message to her outie. Imagine waking up and you’re in the middle of hanging with no knowledge of how you got there. Terrifying.
Severance takes its aesthetic design from a director who influenced Wes Anderson: Jacques Tati. Tati’s film Playtime is one of the most influential celebrations/critiques of capitalism and office bureaucracy in the 20th century. It pretty much cemented the frontal, planimetric, symmetrical look of deadpan comedies. Ben Stiller and other creators of Severance say that Playtime is the primary inspiration for Lumon, and in a way Lumon is a photo-negative of Tati’s Paris.

@@emil87th she was sending one final message to her outtie. One she couldn't ignore. It wasn't a cheer of joy, or glee. It was a cheer of freedom or escape. Finding away out of her forced existence that there was seemingly no escape or break from.
Man, I really feel like they're overthinking things and talking more than they need to. Despite the high concept, I find this show to actually be quite straightforward and everything is there in the dialogue. Maybe it's just the uniqueness of this show that makes their brains so active and looking for answers.
To be honest when I've watched the show I wondered why do the people not threaten to cause a bodily harm more often, or even do it, or beat up coworkers etc. Just to get out. In the other hand, as it was mentioned, leaving the floor is an effective death of that version of yourself, so some people may not want that. But if somme of the workers see their existece as hell, so why not to literally kill yourself? Not by resigning, but you know, to end both of the lives. You, as a severed existence will die anyway, why not to take with yourself the OG version? I mean you were refuesed to leave, so basically that person is torturing you, and your whole existence is work (no sleep etc.). Why not to end them also. Anyway, this is the kind of a show where there are not many answers and we may have our own theories. I guess things I mentioned are not happening more often because of the condidioning, or chips are improved / tuned to limit free will (as the severed version rembembers only some things, like how to operate a computer, but nothing of personal life), and the whole cult mentality also helps to place people in order. That may also explain how a discipline is even possible. The break room sounds scary, but think about it. What actually makes you to go there, or even to work there ar all? If you are not intereted in this existence why not to sit on your ass and tell them to GTFO. Unless there are other means to discipline, which we have not seen.
I see a lot of spoilers in the comments, I hope you don't read them but it seems that some people want to ruin the show for you 😒 Anyway, I love having these reactions to watch in addition to Succession's.
Not meant to bully, but just feedback from someone who watches tons of reaction videos: You talk quite a lot during those. It feels less like you're reacting to what you see, and more like a podcast that you do after seeing it, where you discuss the episode. Only that you do it while you watch for the first time, and without pausing it to not miss things or to not talk over things. To me, reacting doesn't mean having to fill every second with talk, verbalizing every single thought and observation. Some silent moments of simply watching a scene have more entertainment to me than saying every thought out loud without really taking anything in like an audience member. Maybe experiment by doing a couple reactions in a row without subtitles. I think that would force a bit more attention and discipline in a very natural way, where you don't have to bite your tongue, but only speak during silent moments and pause/end your sentence when the characters talk again.
Helly's outie is taking a big risk letting her go to work everyday. If it were me, I'd constantly be worried that I'd kill myself at work. Desperation like that is nothing to fuck with.
