Cooperman is right on. There needs to be a social compact where the wealthy invest of their own free will (give back, not forced). That is the only path forward. You need to utilize their drive and industriousness without allowing wealth consolidation as it is out of control. We are starting to see some of that, many of stated or pledges to give back.

Capitalism is full of tragic flaws--but it's the only system we've discovered yet that can improve the overall wealth of an entire country. Socialism failed time and time again, and the places where it produced best results--Scandinavia, etc.--were countries that already had a firm capitalist foundation to begin with, or else were blessed with massive natural resources that helped make up for the deficits of socialist policies.
When this fools talks about his positive public experiences he doesn't seem to understand that is was Socialism that helped him climb out of poverty! Without Socialism he may not have been able to climb the ladder and yet he is now attacking the very thing that saved him from poverty. He has a double standard what was good for him can no longer be good for anyone else!

I could agree with him on taxes except for the fact that Democrats will spend and waste all of it without building or helping anything... Come up with a rock solid plan on what will happen to all that new money and people might get on board with it.
The thing is, sure, it is great when a person of great wealth _chooses_ to "give back". However because one chooses to do so or thinks it would be a good idea for others to also do so, does not confer a right to take other people's money by force just because one's cause is "noble".

USS $997 million, and is receiving $303 million refund. Netflix $845 million and received a $22.1 million refund. Goodyear $693 million and received a $15 million refund.
Billionaires are not paying taxes, they're getting tax grants. Taxpayers are paying billionaires to make money.

Sadly, the founding fathers gave us term limits in Congress, Senate 6 yr & House 2 yr. Unfortunately the American voter is too dumb to implement those term limits. 74% disapprove, but come November most incumbents will be re-elected. Capitalism is not the problem! If someone creates wealth that's fine. The problem arises with the people who for whatever reason, haven't created wealth, and are then putting their hand out for the wealthy to contribute to them for that lack of achievement through welfare etc. So the problem is that the wealthy are forced through taxes to give to the poor amongst other things! The better solution would be to have the wealthy give to charities that fairly distribute to the needy. That relies on philanthropy. That will surely fail because human greed is the problem NOT capitalistic wealth!
If only there was a way for these taxes to go to a competent organization instead of being squandered by the government

I agree with his views on socialism, but I don’t agree with him on capitalism. I feel that philanthropy is counterproductive. I could easily help people by doing more business (expanding) and servings as many more people as I can, rather than giving money directly to them. What do you do when people are starving, give them fish or teach them fishing? Give them jobs or distribute free money. Philanthropy is not sustainable. It doesn’t get you out of poverty. It only justifies poor people’s unwillingness to skill up.
As far as income inequality goes, it’s really a bullshit concept. You will always be able to afford basic stuff that is essential to living, by working full time, under a capitalist system. That’s the only right that you have, i.e. the right to life. You don’t have the right to leisure. Anything more than that is leisure and you’re free to do work for which there is more demand and less supply. Besides, cash flow would happen anyways even if you don’t directly give money to the people. Even if it doesn’t happen, how does that even matter? It’s as good as the money not being present in the system and prices are always set according to the cash that keeps flowing.
So the owner of AMI or National Enquirer wants to establish what is good for the American worker? Supporting trump by illegal means. Hopefully will see him disclosing the content of AMI and all the extortion that they've been involve in.
What the hell is happening with americans ? you guys want to suffer like us in Brazil with socialism or like venezuela ? I was an exchance student in US back in 94. I was 17 years old and loved the american way of life, the freedom that we don´t have here in Brazil. Brazilians have their life totally regulated by the goverment. I just cant´t believe this new generation turning to socialism, to a life without any freedom, to a life devoted to goverment.
Before jumping on the universal healthcare bandwagon, some things to consider:
The USA has more than twice as many doctors per capita of any other country which means more to chose from and shorter time to schedule a surgery
USA physicians make 50% more than Canadian physicians after taxes and expenses so you can guaranty the best doctors are applying to USA hospitals first.
This wage gap has also made the USA rich with specialist doctors so if you live in a country with universal healthcare and get a very specific illness or need brain or spinal surgery for example, you are probably traveling to the USA to get it done.
Going to a universal healthcare system is likely to affect these positive traits in the USA healthcare system. It’s not a simple case of just taxing more to fix all the problems.

What I think people wants to see the wealthiest people in America is not to pay 80% Taxes, you can leave it as it is, the problem is the loopholes which makes a rich person on paper liable for 50% tax, but in fact pays very little due to these loopholes the rest of the population have no access to at their normal salaries and expenses. Example, under Trump's tax reform, you could claim Jet Fuel for personal travel as an expense, but teachers no longer can claim school stationary expenses. Where is the fairness in that? Either make both claimable or make both taxable.

I believe that capitalism is like an engine with 6 gears. An excellent democracy with sensible, rational people electing sensible, rational governors putting sensible laws into place allows capitalism to get into sixth gear. Cronyism, nonsensical irrational people, nonsensical irrational governors, and ultimately nonsensical irrational laws will slow capitalism down to fifth, fourth, third, second, or first gears (depending on severity).
Socialism, on the other hand, is like building an engine that only has a reverse gear.
I believe we should fix our capitalistic system through rational, well-thought-out, democratic decisions.
