Why I’m spending my Colorado trip at Monarch Mtn next month. A skier and rider mountain, no frills, independent ownership, with a shit load of natural snow. Couldn’t be more exited.
Sad to see. Keystone was the mountain I grew up on and all I wanted to do was get good enough to ride the park. I used to just watch people send the tripples over and over because they were the best in Colorado. Now I dont even want to get in that park. I just ride Abasin now because its smaller, more layed back and just more fun to be honest

I feel the same way about keystone as well as some other resorts, the big companies have ruined snowboarding and prices have gone way too high for the average person. Also this is why less kids are getting into snowboarding because it is just way too pricy.

fr i used to ski the keystone park a couple years back and it used to be so amazing. i would say better than some of the woodward parks. but now it’s terrible i case the jumps. have kids running into me, i’m literally not even hitting the rails their so bad. it’s just disappointing to see

Honestly I couldn’t agree more with this video man. Its really sad. Im typically a huge park rider but this year Ive been on the backside trying to find some powder.
But the problem is lots of the kids you see in the park aren’t actually riding anything. They’re just going off the sides of the jumps that go to the rails and standing in the landings. That’s why it’s crucial to have a beginner park with only small features where they can progress and get better without messing anyone else up.
He’s said multiple times that he loves when new kids get into snowboarding and skiing park and I’m sure he loves the idea of him getting those kids into park. But that park is not the place for beginners to get into skiing park. They should not be mixing the advanced features with the ones designed for beginners

I ski at this resort called Chapman with 2 rope toes and it right in town. It’s so small and they just pack features in and the rails get sticky but when they do we just wax them

Skiing at major western resorts is way over-priced and over-rated. I gave it up long ago in favor of skiing Big Powderhorn, Indianhead, Blackjack and Mount Bohemia in the sparsely populated and remote Michigan Upper Peninsula. They get 200 inches of real power off Lake Superior each winter, the runs are uncrowded, a season pass is less than $400, and an entire vacation will run you about 20 percent of the cost of flying out West, renting a condo, buying lift tickets and standing in line to eat at some so-so-restaurant. ps--I bought an old miner's house in the heart of U.P. ski country for $30,000 and my family, friends and I love the place!
That's when you hit the rails with some wet snow. Had the same problem at my local mountain. I'm the only one hitting features, takes a few runs to break em in hahah. Just gotta send it anyways 🍻
I went to Keystone a couple days ago for the first time in about a year and was so dissapointed to see that the small/medium park was like two rails and that's it. I miss the old days everyone would meet together by that bench and shred the perfect lines wtf happened
Silverfire and the backside of Keystone are great when the snow is decent for how close to Denver it is but yaaah... that park has gotten a bit weird. I did my first backflip at A-basin but almost all my other board firsts were at Keystone or Steamboat a few years ago when the park was real and had a lot of good riders sending it every time you were waiting to drop in.

This is why copper is killing the park game. Different parks with different style of features for all ability levels with tons of space so its always a good day
I feel like the bigger resorts do this so they can get a quote in some dumb news article about how snowboarding is dying, creating a cycle that keeps that up and saving them money not having to maintain a park/park crew. Then they get to say how "family friendly" they are cuz there's less "reckless" snowboarders around.
Have to throw my two cents because I’ve dealt with sticky rails in the last few months. I think, it has something to do with the rails not being grind it down during the summer months I think mountain operations skipped on a lot of things this year because of short staffed. At best they might’ve put some wax on the rails and Collett good when they should’ve been grinding down
I've always wanted to go to CO and shred all the mountains out there, but after the whole speeding thing and now all the comments I've read about vail I would rather go to bridger bowl in MT or to park city. Sucks the corporate is killing these resorts!!!!!
@@StevieD44 Steamboat's issue is they are one of few resorts to not require reservations. That, poor early snow, and TONS of Covid Nomads/Refugees. Almost everyone I rode the lifts with were temporary residents.
I think its because they are targeting wealthy skiers and families because they bring in more money. There are a lot of stereotypes that terrain park kids are crazy and cause trouble so they are trying to push them out because they think their target audience will feel more comfortable. Also terrain park guys usually don't bring in a lot of money since they are usually locals and young people who are trying to save and don't stay overnights. All about the money
It’s so funny as an Austrian. Chairlifts with two seats only exist in the smallest resorts with little snow. A day ticket is at 60€ in the big resorts. Literally no one would to to Keystone when it would be in the alps.
The fact that you can see how much you slow down on the rail even through the camera is absolutely insane. And the jumps are not good, I concussed myself on the second jump because I overshot and freaked out. And I’ve been hitting large jumps for at least 3 years
Isn’t the swifty lift line supposed to be a really good park? My sister went there and stayed with her friends family and she told me the jumps are as big as the lift towers and i saw a vid and they are hugeee
We stopped going to Keystone because the way they built the park. Too many times we got snaked by inexperienced little ones cutting perpendicular to rail take offs only to ski over the side. Their parents getting mad at you when their kids are cutting into features and they don’t realize they are putting their kids in danger by letting them go off the sides of rails. Some young skier girls were sitting on the rails and it just made it stressful asking them to move so we could hit them. The jumps got messed up. We canceled our reservations there for the rest of the year and won’t come back until next year to see if they change. If this condensed park is the new norm, Keystone is a park of the past for us.
You should fly into CVG, stay in Cincinnati area and head to Perfect North Slopes. Longest trail is a mile but holy fuck their park is sick as hell. Nick Goepper, a professional freestyle skier, grew up shredding here.
dude vail resorts is all about the money. the lines at Northstar are like 30-45 min just to get on the lift. they are not doing anything at all and its way more people them last year and this is a pandemic.
Yeah the lift lines at northstar are down right dumb, and it’s not worth going. I say, leave it for the birds. Not to mention the parking lot anxiety that you get when trying to find a parking space, or park a mile away and have to be bus in with a bunch of birds. Epic pass = epic lift lines.
This video was straight facts about money ruining resorts. Vail resorts specifically absolutely ruin terrain parks I feel like, and I’m worried for Mount Snow, Hunter, and Big Boulder. This is because they are now owned by Vail, and Vail I feel like may ruin the shit out of these great terrain parks

I would not doubt you're looking at budget cuts there. The parks going to be one of the areas where they spend less money during this budget crunch.
We went to Flagstaff Arizona and they have a snowboard park there. It’s awesome.

When I lived at Keystone in the late eighties and early nineties, they didn't even let people snowboard at Keystone.
Keystone used to have this shop that sold beaver tails and bro. It was too good but it went away like 10 years ago

I thought the tiniest ski resort was Granlibakken in Tahoe: 10 acres or something like that.
Just went to Crested Butte! Was pretty sick.

Yeah the lift lines at northstar are down right dumb, and it’s not worth going. I say, leave it for the birds. Not to mention the parking lot anxiety that you get when trying to find a parking space, or park a mile away and have to be bus in with a bunch of birds. Epic pass = epic lift lines.
This video was straight facts about money ruining resorts. Vail resorts specifically absolutely ruin terrain parks I feel like, and I’m worried for Mount Snow, Hunter, and Big Boulder. This is because they are now owned by Vail, and Vail I feel like may ruin the shit out of these great terrain parks
Big Boulder is already shit this season. Hunter only has like 12 features in February!!

Don't worry keystone will realize soon enough that it is not just families that brings the money up there you reached a lot of viewers if you dont recommend those snowboarder to go there they wont they will go elsewhere you found is better.... they'll come around
