Just had an out of body experience listening to this about 30 seconds in I started thinking "wouldn't it be cool if I learned to play this on the bass." About another 10 seconds go by. Then it hit me what I actually I *do* know how to play this on the bass. And I had one right in front of already plugged in. I grabbed it and turned it on in time to play along to the second half of the song which was a lot of fun :)

Alright, I have a confession to make. As a hardcore Pixies fan, I've kept this bottled up for years, and I think it's time I finally let it out. I didn't like the original version of "Where is My Mind". It always felt like it was written specifically to be radio-friendly, and while Doolittle wasn't as hardcore as Come on Pilgrim and Surfer Rosa (and wasn't even remotely close to their early live recordings), I just don't think it's representative of their overall style in the early days. This version completely changed my mind. It sounds more like something Frank Black would make than something he actually made. I think you've somehow managed to defy the laws of physics.
this is brilliant! my only gripe (as an avid pixies fan) is that the gaze sound mutes Joey Santiago's clear-cut/slap-in-the-face sound... but this is me nit picking 😂 keep up the amazing stuff ✌️
Accurate. Excellent use of original tracks plus a few new sounds (e.g., close-mic acoustic guitar.) I clicked on the thumbnail because I wanted to see if anyone wrote in the comments something trivial: I've LONG thought that Black Francis' vocal in the song "Trompe le Monde" was perfect shoegaze material; his "WHY DO CUPIDS AND ANGELS CONTINUALLY" delivery reminds me of Ride. "Where Is My Mind" is a different animal, however.
This is just what Radiohead did. Also, very good recording. But I just realized this is just like 75% of what OK Computer sounds like. Like if you added an electric piano at what the quiet parts instead of guitar, I think it contends
Start - that's not shoe gaze, just sounds like surf inflected akt rock When it kicked in - yeah, fair enough 😂 boom, now Kevin Shields has entered the chat
It’s so beautiful. I think the speed actually makes it sound interesting. And it still dreamy and heartbreaking.
😭👍100+❤️🎶
It's the same speed as the original.
@@abraxasjinx5207it is slightly faster
@@daggerfriendly it's 100% the exact same speed.
We just need the vocals to be less clear and more lo-fi and it would be more shoegazey maybe
This just proved to me that the original is just reverbless shoegaze
Yep
AND , a little slower
@@smonkwad you can't call quintessential shoegaze slower shoegaze
@@alphalax7747 I meant in comparison to this one, since this one feels a smidge more sped up
you know it’s good when you constantly return to listen
🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
lmao the glide guitar fitted perfectly in the riff
I NEED THIS ON SPOTIFY
Fr
shoegaze is taking over
pixies lends itself to shoegaze really well. damn
shoegaze = surf + heroin
The cover's blend of two iconic and two of my favorite albums
Listening to my most favourite song in my most favourite genre has an amazing feel.

When you have a hard time piecing it together of how the song works it’s fits so much betyer
There's no way you've kept this bottled up for years lmao. "Hardcore fans" love to tell people how little they like a band's most popular song.
Where is my mind isn't on Doolittle ? Or have I just completely misunderstood your post
@@Frogunity Yeah, Where is my mind is not from doolittle. its from surfer rosa
@@pandadoublexlhardcore fans don’t do that, insecure beginner fans that want people to THINK they’re hardcore fans do that
a shoegaze version of heavenly by cigarettes after sex would actually be heavenly
absolutely
More of these please. This is amazing.

Where _is_ my mind? 'Cause this _blew_ it. 🤯

Distort or make the vocals more dreamy a bit and we good other than that this goes hard asf

Really beautiful, beautiful beyond comprehension, just so beautiful, i am glad finding this channel.
needs a little de-esser but for the rest it's brilliant!
Love this so much
Reminds me of chapterhouse
Amazing, i wish it had more silence, for you to think in futility in that pit of silence for it to come back with a dreamy landscape
You gave new meaning to the song. Well done
Ooh this is very interesting. The only thing is that the song is too fast, especially the verses. I think it would sound better slowed down.
It would sound too much like "slowcore" and less "shoegaze"
shoegaze doesnt have to be slow
@@andrewoid4711 yeah but some people like to have it slow or sadder (me)
You guys should listen to wave of mutilation (UK surf)
THIS IS MY DRUGGG

this is better than the original
Ahhh I had this same idea, but I redid everything 😅 good job though!
Please can you do a shoegaze versión about all I think about now
Read somewhere they’re described as shoegaze in japan somehow, im assuming you’re making it a reality worldwide?
Please can somebody tell me what makes a song shoegaze?
