  • A set of 4 Atlas Schindler Excell Traction elevators at a hotel near downtown. These were installed around 2005/06, and feature the best of it: the chimes. This place used to belong to a high-end international chain, but was sold to a smaller local chain in early 2021. Still looks very posh though, the restaurant in here is also really nice.
The floors are all keycarded, but I still managed to get a good trip from the common floors which are unrestricted.
Out of 4, 3 are for passengers and 1 is for service, with it's separated call station nearby.
The cabs are your default design, with mirrors on the side and a large top-to-bottom one on the back wall. The "sprinkly" ceiling pattern on them looks cool, although it makes the cab lighting more dimmer. The wall finish on these is slightly more reflective and polished than the regular stainless steel walls for the Excell.
The fixtures are Linea Ufficio, commercial configuration, but still lacking advanced controls on the COPs. The chimes play, but not in all hall indicators, some are turned off, burnt out, or simply deactivated.
One difference that these have, are the internal indicators: they don't have the segment for the arrow, and lack the animations when passing floors, it only flashes out briefly, like in the residential versions. Notice how the numbers are in the middle of the panel, instead of the right side, that's something you only see in the low-end installs using the small segmented displays. Best explanation is that the installers probably programmed them like if it was a residential.
One other weird behavior is the first car I rode in the video: it only plays the chimes if you call it from the station on the opposite side. When calling it from the station besides it, no chime. The others don't have this issue.
Their performance is medium-good. Tend to always shake a little during travel, but still acceptable. Medium speed is nice, they did these small trips quite fast. Small jolts can be felt in starts and stops sometimes. These elevators make a lot of regular shaft and travel noises, like some of the wheels squeaking when moving. Beyond that, they're quiet, the trip is very silent, there's not even an epic motor to be heard. If it makes any sound, probably only audible near the top floors. Might make some noise given the size of the cabs and the height.
Build quality is not as bulky as previous models, later Excells look like tin-can elevators, but with stronger and more solid steel walls, doors, etc.
Since new ownership took over, maintenance has gone to their preferred local generic, Alttec, which mantains all the various elevators in their hotels. Notice how they just slapped their sticker over Atlas Schindler's one.
This is quite a large job for them, let's see how they'll take care of these.
    Specifications:
    Manufacturer: Atlas Schindler
    Maintainer: Alttec Elevators (local company)
    Model: Excell
    Fixtures: Linea Ufficio
    Type: Passenger Commercial
    Hoisting: Traction
    Doors: Center-opening
    Capacity: 1050 kg/14 persons (apx. 2300 lbs.)
    In Service: 2005/2006
    Floors Served: 22 (S2 - S1 - T* - M - 1/18)
    Controller: Atlas Schindler EX-800 FV
    Motor: VF-driven
Rating: 9/10 - Nice set of mid-rise commercial elevators. They run good and are very well-mantained. Not a lot to be heard during the trip, but the chimes make up for that. Now I finally have a video with LOTS of these chimes playing.
