Nate is 100% spot on! Pretty hard to defend a qb whose release is that quick and whose passes are that accurate--doesn't matter if the pass rush is unblocked or the receivers perfectly covered. That's the first half I saw.
I agree with him!!! I don't think it's insane panic, give Boiling Green a little credit!!! Things to clean up, sure most definitely!!! Bye week, will help a lot!!!! WE ARE
If Bowling Green can completely expose this defense, just imagine what USC and Ohio State will do. It’s sad but the defense we got in the Peach Bowl last year appears to have carried over to this year.
@agduke3354 Not, saying really good, but very competitive and, do you actually think that team was coming to Happy Valley to lay down and be a doormat????? I actually think, it's good to have a reality smack on my Nittany Lions 🦁!!!! Bye week, and it will humble them very much!!!!! WE did still win people!!! Are 🦁 there tons of things to clean up, most definitely!!!! But, we could have a ND, Iowa result??? WE ARE 🏈 Unrivaled
ND lost. Iowa lost. Both lousy losses. As Franklin said, we get to sort out some issues with a 2-0 record. Great to get a reality check early and escape unscathed. Bowling Green is a friggin good team. MAC schmack, that’s a good football team. They’re gonna win a lot.
BG has 15 returning starters, 45 returning letterwinners, and Bazelak has been a college QB since 2019 (starting at Mizzou and Indiana). They're not Ohio State, but they're no slouch. There's probably a lot of players on that team who could/should be on P4 teams. This was their opportunity to put their draft highlight reels together, and they made the best of it.
If you were really buying the universal 49-10 predictions, you were probably disappointed in this game. I did not buy them. I expected a close game. Looking at the big picture from around college football yesterday, I'm happy that we survived and advanced. The players overcame a subpar performance because they believed.
Shout out to James Franklin calling timeout with 00:14 seconds left at end of half to kick a fg. The man is a brilliant tactician. lol. Don’t run it down to 3-4 seconds and make it the last play. Nope not Jimmy. We gonna call timeout with :14 seconds left and kickoff and give them a chance to run it back. The guy is a total clown.
TE number 44 saved PSU today by his many catches and continual clutch play vs Bowling Green. The punter is NFL level talent and pinned Bowling Green back every punt. Bowling Green was clearly the better team today and PSU won because they had a great tight end number 44 and a great punter.
Um, you have what you have and in the end the better team won. BG may have been the better team in the first half as the halftime score pointed that out. But the finial score pointed out that PSU was the better team.
This was the perfect game to get the ball to Fleming. He has lightening speed, great hands, size and might have performed where #6 couldn't. He deserves a chance.
What??? Umm, speed is the least of Fleming's attributes. He's NOT fast. That's a known fact by everyone. He's a possession receiver that will get some first downs on 3rd and 6.
@stant3203 dude, He. Is. NOT. fast. Go spend a few hours digging in to Blue White Illistrated and their pre season breakdown of every position group. Go listen to 24/7 and their breakdown of the WR group. Go do some film review while he was at OSU. He's an average to maybe just above average WR in regards to speed. He's a big body guy that's a possession receiver. It's fact. 🤦♂️
Same ole PSU. Defensive line won’t hold up against the elite and offensive inconsistencies/lack of NFL caliber WRs and QB means another season where they will end up between 15-20. They are not beating USC or OSU and luckily they get Washington at home. No need to wonder if this team is elite or will get significantly better throughout the year-they won’t!
The breakdown of current NFL players by college goes Alabama, OSU, LSU, Michigan, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State. This tells me that PSU should be the top 6-7 teams nationally year in and year out based on talent alone. Why do we continue to underperform and not live up to the expectations??? Ladies and gentlemen I give you exhibit A: coach JF.. no one, and I mean no one does less with more than JF….
Or.....he consistently has recruiting classes ranked in the low teens, but finishes ranked in the high single digits. So the teams are ranked for the season consistently higher than recruiting rankings. So seems they are outperforming their rankings. And those NFL Nittany Lions are often going into the draft with remaining collegiate eligibility.
@@MaggieDozerthis makes no sense. The best players go to the NFL. Plenty of highly touted HS recruits don’t pan out. The ultimate litmus test is NFL talent. What are you even arguing here???
Makes absolute sense except when chicken little wants to blowhard about blaming close wins on Franklin but any success is despite of him. Your NFL point has some merit but it isn't the ultimate and only metric. You are only looking at quantity of players, not development or NFL success. I doubt you would say Texas Tech is the best school for quarterbacks, yet the best NFL one is from there. My point makes perfect sense as well, but it isn't an ultimate metric, just like yours isn't either. But class recruiting rankings are a baseline of the industry that says if every player performs at their recruiting ranking, not above or below, then that is how the teams should perform on the field. Just like 5 stars are given to the projected to be the first complete round of the draft.
Funny you mention that. Look at his recruiting classes and he is punching above his weight class and that is only happening because of how well they develop the players they do get. Think that pretty successful. Take a look at the amount of 5* talent on the teams you have named and see where penn st ranks among them.
At least, we won. Nortbern Illinois, another MAC team, took down No. 5 Notre Dame edit.
not good PSU DBs leading team in tackles and need more from pass rush. but good news is we won and Mich and ND lost. oh #44 Tyler Warren is a beast
Well I can tell you that Notre Dame loss makes me feel better about this 😂

clearly you guys thought it would go differently - predictions of 50 to 3 and the like.
That's true! Sometimes things don't go according to plan. 🤷♂
Everybody thought it was going to go differently.
Did u think bowling green was gonna be a close game captain hindsight
we need Drew, Kay, Nick and Tyler to be that guy every game

Fleming was a two time state champion in the 100yd dash. He’s not slow. Maybe evade saving him for league play as a deep receiver.
