I recently decided to get one TTR City game to add to my collection of TTR. One of our favorite game franchises. I chose Berlin, because it has the streetcars and subway cars to choose from. Reminds me of a simplified version of TTR Rails and Sails, which despite some negative reviews, we really enjoy. I will use the Berlin game as filler when a short game is needed or to introduce new players to board games. Don’t know if I really need more than one City game. I did appreciate your review of Paris!

I'm with you - one city is enough

Which city box version is your favorite game mechanics wise?

I see the city ones as mostly an introduction so London for me being the local city with a easy to explain twist of wanting to connect specific destinations works very well. The New York one is also super quick to explain but lacking the score track felt odd.

You haven’t talked about the necessity of this edition versus the other games of the city line. For me, this feels very opportunistic of the developper to get this one out right now. It feels like I just received my copy of the Berlin version (I got it in November, after preordering it) and this comes out with little or nothing new to offer. I love the city line of Ticket to Ride but this is the one that breaks it for me. There’s literally no reason to buy it unless you’ve never had a city version of the game and this review doesn’t convince me otherwise (while being a well made review). And if you’ve never had a City version, I don’t feel like this one is the one to get (over New York or San Francisco that are just great…). Thanks for the review!

I feel they have made most of the city line to be tourist like things. You've been to Paris then get it as a TtR game. Perfect for the upcoming Olympics.

@@DontBeBoard Probably what’s behind it, but it really feels like a cash grab that cheapens the brand for me. We don’t need infinitely many versions of the same game that don’t bring anything new (à la Monopoly, with their stupid versions); we want solid versions that bring the mechanics somewhere else. Seeing this while I just got the Berlin version brought a really negative feeling to me, as a fan of Ticket to Ride line. It made me feel like they treated me like a cash cow, not like a loyal consumer. I don’t think I’ll get this one, and the review (while well made, I’m talking about the game here, not dissing your work) doesn’t convince me that I’ll miss something.

It looks like the next TtR release is a normal sized expansion at least. That should add something new
