Very clear and concise explanation. Easy to understand. Unlike others RUclipsrs speaking way too fast and difficult to understand. I find that when the mic is placed at certain spot, during volume calibration it will have error for the input gain and asking to reduce the spk gain. I was calibrating my spk vol to -20.x db. After that I calibrate my spk vol to -21.x db, I don’t encounter this problem anymore.
With the NR7100, my sub tries to play pink noise, which it doesn't do very well, almost inaudible unless cranked up, then it fails the measuring test because it is too loud. With your setup it seems to play a different type of tone. Is there a good way to work around this?
Nick, Thanks for the detailed Dirac Live set-up and use video. Very very good! I hope that I can, someday, own an Emotiva processor and amp set-up. All the best to everyone at Emotiva.
Loved the video, very helpful. I have measured and remeasured. Set up narrow, wide and something in-between . I have the Onkyo NR7100 and I am wondering why when you turn off the Dirac setting the Re-EQ is set to on (normally off) and the sound seems to be "BIGGER", why is this?
If running 2 subs, should we use the L&R sub outputs on the XMC2 and let Dirac time align and correct phase? or should we use 1 sub out and use a MiniDSP to do the sub alignment and corrections?
Keith, Brent here from Emotiva. In general, I would use two of the subwoofer outputs on the XMC-2, either the L&R set as Dual Mono, or the Left set as Mono and Center as LFE for example. Let the XMC-2 and Dirac do the DSP and corrections. The XMC-2 is already a very powerful DSP when combined with Dirac, and using an additional external DSP may be redundant and cause complications. You can use just one output and then an External DSP, but Dirac will only see that as one "speaker" or channel and not be able to differentiate between the two subs. Thanks.
I can't get Dirac Live on the XMC-2 to enable. Latest firmware. I have the option to enable it, and see the up arrow but when I click up it won't enable. I tried another preset but it's not even available on that. Any ideas?
@EmotivaAudioCorp Yes, but my laptop is on the wifi from the router. The xmc2 is hooked normally through the rj45 switch. I'm assuming having one connected through rj45 and one through wifi on the same router/modem won't suffice? Ie, all need to be connected via rj45?
Great to have an updated video, but Dirac has released version 3.3.3 which has a significant difference in how the target curves may be defined. It's a source of confusion, as Dirac did not provide clear instructions on how to use the new features.
Marc, Brent at Emotiva. We knew that Dirac would probably make a change just after we updated our video! Wish we could have captured those changes this time around. The changes seem to be just some shelf filters that can be applied, but we are still looking at and playing with these new features ourselves.
Nick can I ask why Dirac doesn’t invert sub automatically? I finally set up my 2 subs, followed this video and everything looked great until I checked the impulse response and the subs were going in opposite directions. I used a MiniDSP to invert 1 sub and then re-ran my measurements and the impulse with close enough to the same. Something so simple why can Dirac adjust it?
Keith, if using only one of the subwoofer outputs on the XMC-2 to feed your MiniDSP that has two subwoofers connected, the processor and Dirac software are only able to view this configuration as a single channel or one combined "speaker". Dirac does not have the ability to adjust each of your subwoofer's phasing individually, as it cannot interact with your external DSP. Because you are using an external DSP, you will have to ensure that the subs are in phase outside of and before running Dirac, as it only sees whatever is connected to the single subwoofer output as one combined "speaker." I hope this helps clarify, and please feel free to reach out at customerservice@emotiva.com if you have further subwoofer configuration questions.
@@brentberkompas4740 I did run L and R sub outs from the XMC2, had the MiniDSP doing nothing. Shouldn’t Dirac automatically invert one of the subs? I had to used the MiniDSP to invert and re-run Dirac with much better results.
You would have to ask Dirac that question as that is part of their secret sauce, maybe just the homing position or control to make sure the levels match the first run?
My XMC-2 sounded great before Dirac… after Dirac.. I was left SpeechleSS. INCREDIBLE SOUND!!

Can you make another video using the latest version of Dirac? That includes the new vertical sliding bars when designing a target curve.

All the best to everyone at Emotiva.
Glad it was helpful!
A video on Bass management on this units will be very helpful.
Very much agree
After Bass Management is fix in the next firmware release, that is.
On my Onkyo NR7100 it shows the volume offset range from +12dB to -12dB; should I slide the sliders down to 0 before I start?

Should I set my speaker levels first and what db should I shoot for when setting my levels

When adding a sub, what should I set the knob to for the gain?

Do you have your dirac kit hooked up to the processor and your network?

Do i have to set crossover between Front L/R and subwoofer before Dirac live calibration or does the dirac calibration include it?
I’m also still in the process of learning, but yes. I do believe you do set it beforehand.
Are there alternatives to dirac for the rmc1? In Australian $$ it's $1300! I just can't justify that kind of expense for room correction software.
There should be no cost to the core Dirac software which is free to use with the unit. You can find it here: www.dirac.com/live/downloads/
@@EmotivaAudioCorp thank you! I'll get into it

Why do I get a network error has soon as touch the mic gain? I'm using the Onkyo Tx RZ50
The only company recommending touching the mic gain is Emotiva. Everyone else says to leave it at 100% so just do that :)
Very cool ! Thank you !
Glad you liked it!

Why does it left speaker twice?
