I have owned a Pellet Pro for 7-8yrs, All the people at Smoke Daddy are great . super customer support.I started with the cold smoke generator "Big Kahuna" , the purchased a PP770 plus other items. Great experience with everything..
I have a sear daddy,on my traeger Texas BBQ075,I don’t even use my drip pan anymore, leave my seardaddy, in,and leave my full grill grate on top of it and finish cook on outside cooking areas left, not directly on seardaddy with lid closed,if you go too full heat at 450 with lid closed it with get too hot and melt the paint off your traeger.i love my seardaddy, outstanding for searing chicken skin on any pellet grill or low and slow too finish cook with low and slow smoke.at 225 too 250.your pellet grill still smokes normal with no issues on p settings below 250 and below with seardaddy.
Tom - Just saw this video. They still sell these. I'm surprised you haven't featured this occasionally. It looks like it works. And regrets? My only question is, "What happens to the grease?
Thanks for Watching Ted! I not sure if I have it anymore, it does work, but limitations on the firpot location . The grease goes into the lava rock like a old school gasser’s used to be
Hey Tom! I think this product is Genius and anyone with a pellet should get one if they truly want a "seared" effect. You know I would have one if I didn't make my own design on this concept. I believe that this is just the start......more manufacturers are going to be experimenting and coming up with new options for their pellet grills. I see it........and I'll be pushing the limits on these possibilities............very soon. ;-) 🔥🔥🔥 Smoke Daddy does deserve more of a look for their innovative products. You are a good man to help them out.
Hi Tom....great video! Do you think the Sear Daddy ($99) can replace getting the Sear Box attachment ($200)? Can you leave that sear daddy in your pellet grill as permanent fixture with your heat deflector moved to the side and the heat shield removed? Does it change the way it smoke at low temps? It would be a hassle if you have to put in and remove sear daddy for every usage.
Thanks for watching! It’s designed to be used for searing. I wouldn’t leave it in permanently. If it’s just reverse seared steak it probably would be ok for the low and slow part but not for greaser cooks the grease would all be trapped in the lava rock which would flare up on the next high heat cook
Would this work the other way? Placing the steaks on the upper rack with the sear daddy in place and smoke them at 225-250 until 115 internal, and then crank up the grill to max and reverse sear them once they’ve reached the proper internal?
Thanks for watching! I don’t believe it will . If you want to sear Z Grills seals a cast iron insert that gets to 700 degrees. ruclips.net/video/cWfZc-R-02c/видео.html
Adam M Adam, I got my Rec Tec 2.5 years ago, it was fantastic! It, finally failed, pellet jams and controller issues. I finally gave up and gave it to me oldest Son Brian who has been trying to make it work with no luck. I didn't make a video showing the failure just out of respect for Rec Tec. It was out of warranty and the replacement parts wasn't worth it. Thanks for Watching!
I am sorry perhaps it was not clear..! What I meant was that lava stones were withdrawn from the propane grills as they were considered not healthy to grill over them..!!

Tom, does the food have a smoke flavor to it using this sear station ?
Thanks for Watching! Yup you are still cooking over wood, so there is a slight wood smoke flavor,,, just slight
Where did you get the grates from ? My sear Daddy shows up tomorrow and would like to get some grates like those .
mjthornhill Thanks For Watching! The Cast Iron Grates were purchased from Camp Chef. Unfortunately they don’t offer them anymore
Looks really good Tom what type of pellet did you use? BBC
Thanks for Watching! Lumberjack Pecan

Jack Webb Yes it would Jack! I fact I was thinking of trying that in a upcoming video.
Hmmm.. so can i put charcoals and wood chips in this instead of lava rock to use it like a charcoal pit??
Thanks for watching! That’s not what it was designed for.
Have you had any issues with grease getting into the firepot when using the sear daddy?
Thanks for watching Jason! Because you are searing at High heat any grease drippings vaporize when they hit the metal or lava rocks
Thank you for the response. I've really been on the fence about it
Hey Tom another awesome video. Will the sear daddy work in the camp chef pursuit portable?
Matt Fox Good Question Matt! You need 19 1/2 " for it to fit the Pursuit only has 141/2 " so it will not. Sorry!
I think someone needs sous-vide setup. Steaks look 👀 great 👍
John Knapp Thanks John! I have one but haven't used it yet
How does the grease drain? Right on the lava rocks?
ter sec Thanks for Watching! High Heat burns the grease as it hits the flavorizer bars as the lava rock takes care of the rest.
Can you replace lava rocks with charcoal for grilling?
Thanks for watching! I know it wasn’t designed for that... it is an interesting idea
@@TomHorsmanAmateurBBQ yea would be awesome if you could get that authentic bbq smell!
Agreed!
Any idea if this will fit the Z grills 7002e?
Thanks for watching! I don’t believe it will . If you want to sear Z Grills seals a cast iron insert that gets to 700 degrees.

Would be good for Neapolitan pizzas.
Thanks for watching Brian! Yes it would!

Tom Horsman oh okay Tom. Thanks for the explanation.
What about the lava stones..? I thought they are not being used as being cancerous..!!
Thanks for Watching! huh?
I am sorry perhaps it was not clear..! What I meant was that lava stones were withdrawn from the propane grills as they were considered not healthy to grill over them..!!
