One other thing: in her press conference Coco said she knows what she's doing wrong on her serve: coming down too soon with her arm and head. Do y'all think Coco's double fault struggles are on her? Or should her coach Brad Gilbert take some responsibility?
seems like it's on her. im not sure what Brad could do but it seems to be a combination of a technical issue + nerves. She also said that she hadn't had a training block since before the clay season, so isn't it too early to blame Brad for this? I see a lot of people blaming Brad and saying that she should get a new coach but perhaps this is another video idea: What exactly is a coach supposed to do for a player?
whatever it is, Coco and team needs to figure it out. Brad is ALL ABOUT BRAD😡…. IMO he is her biggest problem. He is not always with her and he is more about promoting himself. I just hate it that the other coach left her😢The coach of this year’s Gold medalist. I still think he left because of Brad. I definitely feel her problems are both technical and mental. I figure at some point they will figure it out ….I just wonder how many more months, or years it will take. The William sister parents didn’t need to bring in new coaches until they were older and on their own - because they were awesome coaches. People gave Brad Gilbert credit for helping Coco win the USO last year. He had not been her coach long enough to give him credit! If you go back she really got worse after hiring Mr. Gilbert. We all need to pray for Coco 🙏🏽🎾🙏🏽
@@yolandasmith3447 there certainly was a coaching effect when Brad took over last year, because he made her focus on her strengths and forget about her weaknesses for a while. As we can see, her problems are clearly - at least partially - mental. But as with any relationship, problems in personal chemistry can only appear after a while. I think they need to sit down and have an honest discussion if they are still a good fit.
19 double faults is like giving away almost 5 games. That is extraordinary. Navarro had only two double faults and, as important, *25* less unforced errors (35 v 60). How is that even possible? Great discussion on this channel, thank you for sharing your insights!
@mikerzisu9508 Yes! I did not see the game, but after the 3rd or 4th double fault, wouldn't a player try something different - a slice serve or take some pace off, just get it in..?
@TomMarvan i have played competitive tennis when I was younger, and sometimes when your aren't serving well it takes over your mental state. It is in your mind each time your serve, and prevents you from focusing. She really needs a coach that can rebuild her serve and help her mentally. She really struggles out there often
1st. Coco needs to step away to rest and focus on improving the basics. 2nd. Coco needs to fire her team. She needs coaches that focus on technique, fundamentals and a psychologist. Great video as usual.
@@BjustbudgetsBrad needs to go. The way he doesn’t take responsibility and fix an error is not good. And the way he got ate up ( rightfully so ) on air by Rannae just shows it time for him to go !
It wasn't just the 19 double faults that caused Coco to lose. She ended with 60 unforced errors, 29 on her forehand. No way could she have won the match with that stat. Coco definitely needs a break from the game to fix the technical issues she has because her performace and confidence has plummeted. I think she needs to hire a serve specialist to help her and review her coaching team at the same time.
I definitely agree with you about coco dealing with the newfound pressure of already winning a slam. I do think that she will be fine and learn to deal with the pressure much better.
I love your content and your analysis. I am a fan!!! You made note of Gilbert putting on the commentator cap after his player lost. That act right there shows that he is not the right coach for Coco. She needs a different coach. In a previous video you mentioned members of her team who left. I forgot their names, but she needs to bring them back. I can’t wait for your deeper dive video into Coco.
@@chess1906 Brad is amazing. Coco is stubborn and wouldn't change. He coached her to a US open victory. Her parents are the problem. Greed. Commercials and endorsements instead of focusing on tennis .
@@trommelbielYeah, maybe she should log off from social media for awhile so she doesn't have to keep reading comments from people like you who have nothing substantive to contribute to a discussion other than a sassy hate comment for a few likes, which I'm sure is the highlight of your entire existence.
@@trommelbiel well, none of us truly know what Coco’s daily life looks like so I believe it’s a bad assumption to say she’s doing more of one thing than another. As a tennis player myself, I can say that what we do is hard especially on the mind so her presence on social media could be a form of escapism (if your statement is true). She’s a human being like the rest of us.
Can we just say, Coco faced a better player in Emma. Playing tennis is not just about how hard you hit the ball or how quick you are, it's also about composure and thinking on your feet. Emma was clearly better in those two.
No I can't agree, because Coco has made the same mistakes no matter who she has played. I love her and all, but she needs to take time off just to deal with her serve.
I agree I think coco is just overall way to shakey and everytime i see her play im just counting down the shots before she misses and I dont get that from any other player. I think being ranked 3rd way over estimated her ability and she needs to go back and work on technique. I don't think the rest of the season will go well for her but I hope the training break she talked about in her press conference will do some good for her.
Sabalenka went through a phase of double faulting and realised the only person who could fix her problem was herself. Coco will turn this around now that she has the US open title pressure off her back. However, Brad needs to go, and I would love to see her work with David Witt - Big Foe looks to be benefiting already 😊
@deusexmachina9776 Brad is not helping, she needs good sound, practical advice when she is struggling on the court, and her serve has got worse under his tutelage. I liked the fact that when he first joined her team he didn't try to change her forehand and made her start playing high balls down the line, but he has not seemed to have done anything else positive since 🤔
Agree that Brad needs to go. Any player has to find the right fit in a coach that will positively affect their game and confidence. Would love to see her with Ivanisevic, Lendl or Sasha Bajin. She just needs to find the right fit to help with technique, mainly her serve because it's been her achilles heel from the start, and build confidence in her game. She needs to learn to trust her shots. She hits down the center of the court way too much. 🙄 She spends too much time defending rather than controlling the points as a result.
I agree with you completely, Christian. I watched the match and I see glimpses of greatness, but consistency is key. Also, it would have been egregious for her to have won that match with 19 DFs. It will give her an opportunity to fix things in her game. Overall, I think it wasn’t a bad lost because she fought.
I will say, coco has flaws in her game definitely she may need to take a step away from the tour and sort out her issues out, whether if it’s boiling down to her or the structure of her team and coach. I do agree with you Chris in regards we shouldn’t keep making assumptions as if she doesn’t have a sport psychologist. She may have one behind the scenes. But she is only 20 and has had so much expectation put on her. But one thing i don’t understand is why most people are so hard and harsh on her. Now not saying she shouldn’t get constructive criticism, she definitely should. But at some point the constructive criticism turns into a nasty rhetoric about her. Like i just read someone left a comment talking about she hasn’t won anything since last year. Which is true but then i sometimes think, how most people are so easy on players like Rybakina who is also in that same category of the 1 GS title, and can’t even make it through most tournaments because of her unwavering health compilations. I hate to say it but i think a little bit is a racial thing with why people hate her so much. I’m in some Facebook tennis groups and i notice a common thing with a lot of the members in those groups whenever a player who Is black or a minority falls short they are really quick to rip them a new one and discredit what they have been able to accomplish in their career, compared to other players on-tour who fall short. Players like Naomi, Sloane, Taylor Townsend, coco and many of the few players of color are so intensely ridiculed when they have short comings. Now realizing everyone is not perfect and they will have dips in their careers, highs and lows. But that’s besides the point. I think if she continues and decides to play most of the Asian swing and she’s still not have the results she should have. By the end of year. She should part ways with Brad, and honestly that’s okay. Some people come into others lives for a reason and a season. Brad has had great results with her from last year giving him his credit because it is due. But i don’t think him and coco are on the same page and they are constantly going through a disconnect. And also i never understood why she has two coaches. I feel like it can be very conflicting from what one will say compared to the other coach. But i wish her the best and hope she can have a turn around for the 2025 season.
It's not a race thing. It's the hype train and endorsements her like she's the Michael Jordan of tennis. I mean time even named her women of the year least year. I think people want to see performance match the hype which is justified. Also no great player or perennially highly ranked player does not come without expectation. Being able to play with expectations is what makes an athlete great. Fwiw, rybakina still has more points than gauff in the race to wta rankings despite a lot less matches. You can look those up on the wta website. She also has a solid record against iga and sabalenka. People care more about the player being competitive. There are many one slam wonders so there's more to tennis than just winning a slam. I mean raducanu won the US open and faded away. So did Bianca andreescu
Coco needs to hire the same guy who helped Sabalenka with her serve. If she doesn't fix this issue fast, she will not win another title. She also needs to get rid of Brad cause he aint helping her. His season has passed. She also needs a mental coach.
I honestly feel that Pera's departure was as a result of BG's addition to the team. She should've added the Frenchman while she still had Pera and not hired Brad. At this point, just add Stubbs & get rid of BG.
I think that Coco (and fans) should give Brad some time and not rush to switch coaches. Part of mental stability is having a consistent team to work with. She's still very young and hungry so lots of time to figure it all out.
This is still an upset because of expectations. Novak also gave away so many points for committing double faults but people say it was an upset without considering that Novak is an old athlete. And when he lost sets to Popyrin, he got 4 games while Popyrin only got 2 games when Novak won a set. Plus, there were long rallies and aces for Novak. But why was it considered an upset? Because people still expect Novak to win despite his age. Once people see Novak as a has been, no one will see his losses as an upset. Aging happens to any great athlete. It is what it is but perceptions and expectations influence people's mindset.
We can't deny what we see with our own eyes! Coco has not played to her potential and it's been difficult to witness. If she doesn't improve her serve, unforced errors and confidence on the court, she will be vulnerable to top tier players and even unseeded players. Brad Gilbert should step off and refund his salary for this year! I also suspect Coco is feisty and possibly not easy to coach. She needs a no nonsense training regimen with a coach she trusts and actually listens to, in order to make the necessary improvements. She won't win more grand slams with just ugly wins. She needs to close more matches in command and in charge! I love Coco!😘 I hope she regroups and comes back stronger. 💪🏾💯
Coco was very confident saying " I will do it again" after winning the first round. Now , the whole world is laughing at her , especially after her very low quality of tennis against Navarro..
I was so sad for Coco during her match with Emma seeing her father exposing his unrestrained emotions. From exaltation to depression, anger and disapproval. Sometimes I was not sure who is coaching Coco, her father or her trainer. It is very important for parents and coaches to stay calm during the mach and not display visible emotions, no matter what happens on the court. Showing strong emotions puts the player on additional stress that can negatively affect Coco.
I think Coco should sack Brad Gilbert. Coco should not hit such huge serves, if it goes in that’s great but inevitably it is followed by a double fault. If she maintains a reasonable good first serve i think Coco confidence will grow and she will be able to back it up with her ground strokes. To me too much pressure, she is 20 and should be enjoying her tennis, Coco never looks happy on court
Yes, she looks tense and anxious. She is putting so much pressure on herself. She is only 20 and has already won one major. It was said that she is a perfectionist (I can relate to this a little, lol!), so she can’t seem to relax and play freely.
I tend to judge confidence by a tennis player's foot movement and Coco's has been really bad this year. I know this doesn't sound like something you hear a lot in tennis but watch her US Open final from last year and then compare to how she's been playing this year.
I would like her to incorporate the 7 hit technique that Alcaraz coach implemented in his practice sessions. Hit 6 good shots and then look to hit a winner. She rushed a lot of her shots. Emma and Pegula just wait until CoCo self destructs. I’m really interested to see how she bounces back.
She won a match with I think 13 double faults in the past, so she can fight. I am suprised she didnt fall sooner but it was due to weaker opponents until Sunday. Once she gets shakenand stresse, her bad technique will show right away, so I do agree its both. Starts on the mental side and is followed by execution.
I am neither a Tennis player nor a Tennis expert like Christian but l do know is that nobody can be taught to become the best at what he/ she does. I remember Billie Jean King saying after she watched Serena's service when Serena was a kid she told her " Don't change anything" Everybody knows Serena as the greatest but how many people know how many hours she spent in the gym and there are clips of it on RUclips. I still believe Coco comes across as a carefree/ careless Tennis 🎾 player who probably spends more time on Social media than in trying to figure out on her own how to become the best. If Serena relied on her coach she wouldn't be the GOAT. IF Michael Jordan relied on his coach he wouldn't be the GOAT. I don't think Coco cares to learn and improve. I believe she is better than Emma Navaro but if they played again tomorrow the same results can be expected.
@@trommelbiel Serena definitely relied on her coach who's one of the best out there. Serena didn't do any of it alone. Serena had a much bigger natural talent then Coco. Bigger serve . Forehand . Backhand . Mentally much stronger .
You apparently misunderstood me but it's ok. I just watched the replay and Coco whom l was rooting for was thoroughly outplayed by Emma, at least based on the clips they showed. And if they played again next month Emma will most likely defeat Coco again because Coco will stubbornly fail to make the necessary changes. No coach can play for you especially in a GrandSlam. Emma played like a veteran while Coco played like a novice. I respect Christian but for him to blame Coco's loss on her double faults is showing disrespect towards Emma. No coach could have taught Serena to become the best at what she did and no coach could have taught Kobe to become the best. You just can't teach that. No coach can. Be truthful even if you are a fanatical fan.
I don't wanna dwell with you on this topic. Was Kobe the only player who had mentorship from the same coach? So how did he manage to become the best among the bunch. You are just trying to blindly defend Coco whom l love by the way. No coach can make her win GrandSlam and if nothing changes in her game we have seen the last GrandSlam from Coco. Please you don't need to respond again. I won't be happy to read more of your comments.
Great tennis players have great serves, Coco at the moment is not one of them. Yes she’s still young, but so is Emma Raducanu and no one is looking at her as a multi slam contender anymore. Unless Coco seriously works on that atrocious serve, she will continue to struggle. You can’t possibly expect to be taken seriously at the slams serving like that. To serve 19 double faults as defending champion is embarrassing.
Coco’s ranking is already going to drop so she might as well take some time off from competition. 19 double faults is definitely mental. That’s four games worth of free points. She has no confidence in her serve and has got to work on it.
I called it before the tournament started that either the third or fourth round would be the end. Brad needs to be switch out and possibly take a break to fix the errors. Brad doesn’t tell her what she needs to do during times she’s going to the towel, it’s just “come on Coco you got this or use more backhand”. I feel the same if she drops out of the top ten maybe, there wouldn’t be so much pressure.
Emma Navarro also American , she also young , but why everyone talk only about Coco??? Coco should be doing this or that. Less talk about Emma and Pegula
Sorry for the lost COCO, maybe you should separate with your present team, and try something new and have a different approach to your game., have some holiday and rest, come back more stronger next year in Melbourne. 😍😍😍😍😍
Sincerely coco played well during this tournament we haven't seeing her play like this in a long time ago. I though she would lost at the third round. as justin henin said her fighting spirit is incredible " many players would have let go but she still fought to the end. To me her forehand is clearly not a pb since the beginning she just needs to trust her ability to work with it and accept that it would not be har best shot but still can be relatable she is able to defend, redirect, and put some heaviness and top spin woth it its enough. And she didn't use it like last year where she was hitting balls with lot more of shape a'd heaviness, to me she should stick to that kind of FH. I fond her very calm and composed after her loss durong the interview. I think coco needs to improve her serve in many ways, she the hardest first server hitter on the wta, but still her service dont allow to gain a lot of point because it's too on the middle, the opponent don't even have to move to return it, less power and mora pace and precision. And i dont understand why she don't slow down and try to it a first/secondserve whzn she's nurvous trying to hit the ball harder and harder when it doesn't work like common its the basics of tennis. Dementieva, even sabalenka were very struggling with their serves ont some points in their careers and find way. I'am sure coco is able to do so.
Emma Navarro is a type of player who the opponent needs to beat because she will not break on her own. Coco struggling with technical side of her tennis was not capable of doing that yesterday. Still although all those problems she was trying to overcome that, stay focused and use whatever chances she got. That is how she won second set. I would not blame Coco's mentality for loosing. Mentally she looked strong. We dont know exactly what they are doing with Brad Gilbert. Maybe they are working on some technical improvements which will pay off in the future but working on them cost Coco now? She is just 20 and she has a lot of time for getting better.
It’s ultimately on Coco. The coaches ain’t playing for her. She needs to execute a lot better. Her serve and forehand are red flags that will continue to hinder her until she gets it right.
Coco must work on her serve she knows it! As far as Brad Gilbert goes that’s her call it’s her Coach? I knew when Coco started playing in this US Open she wasn’t going to win! Coco isn’t the player she was last year! First her serve is way off too many double faults! Her body moves aren’t like last year there’s something not right about Coco’s game maybe she’s hurt & it’s nagging at her! But this is the not the same Coco as last year get some rest & come back next year with a win!
WRONG . Coco was forced to serve more double faults because Narvarro was eating her second serve for dinner. So that put more pressure on the first serve. Emma is the superior player and much more mentally mature.
Great as always Christian. But i feel BG should be fired and Renee Hired. Serena help her out! I agree bad technique breaks down. And her summer wasnt great. But i feel she needs to regroup. She's a Great Player but Serve needs work, and Forhand needs confidence. Return Definitely needs to be worked on. I think its both Confidence and Technical Shell do it and come back better! Not to take away from Navarro she played very good.
It’s definitely mental with the serve. I think her toss should be a bit higher. The forehand she just needs to accelerate more consistently. Emma will lose to Badosa
What was that nosense Coco said in her after match interview: " it's about perception.........About 70 players want to be in the 4th round. A lot of players want to be at the Olympics. A lot of players want to be flag bearer....."yadayadayada . No Coco. That's utter BS....stop fooling yourself. It's about trophies 🏆 and you know it. Starr winning some . Like serious ones NOT 250 level!
Coco worked on her serve with Roddick. It was much improved for a while. What happened? It seems she rushes too much. She tries to hit the ball too hard too early instead of working the point. And then makes too many errors.
Serve is one element of tennis that is completely, totally controlled by the player. So not much room for going easy on Coco. Many men created careers out of this element: Karlovic, Cilic (US Open winner), Anderson, Isner. Serve is also an element that takes longest for the beginner to master. That's why beginners usually win games on the opponent's serve. Coco looked like a beginner yesterday.
I think Coco needs to have a break and enjoy life without tennis for a moment. She will be back stronger. Btw what do you think now of chances of Iga getting the win ?
Coco’s loss didn’t have any impact on Iga tbh but I think she has a great chance to make the finals especially if she gets past Pegula in the QF. But samsonova will be tricky
FH & serve were really bad but what is going on with her backhand?! It’s no more very reliable as well. A lot of errors from this side today. Even in exchanges they was playing FH to FH & Coco was able to keep on the racquet she was losing when Emma changed to her BH.
Every black person here should applaud Christian. This is the way we want the world to view black people: Very intelligent and a great thinker! I love your opinions!!!! God, please protect this man and guide him to bigger success!!!!
Coco should take a month off and concentrate on training and improving mentally. I feel her coaching change last year was in error. Cheng is doing much better with Coco's old coach. Coco's confidence is off. Last year, the Top 5 did not fear playing Coco. This year, the Top 30 is not fearful. That's a problem.
I knew it right from beginning that Gilbert was going to turn her game upside down.. He did the same think with Andy Roddick and Andy Murray game as a coach before he was fired..
I agree with you that Coco's 19 double failts helped to doom her game vs Navarro. I disagree with you that her forehand was "not that bad": Coco had 29 unforced errors on her forehand side! That plus the 19 DF's (which, BTW, are also "forehands") amounted to 48 total "forehand" errors in ONE GAME! That's unheard of for any professional tennis player, especially for a Grand Slam Champion defending their title. Her forehand needs a drastic overhall - the sooner the better because if it's not fixed soon (dare I say it might already be too late) her technique on that side becomes ingrained and unreparable. I think she should take Nick Kyrgios up on his offer to coach Coco - he is a "raquet wizzard" (per Chanda Rubin) and knows all about the best tennis techniques to be utilized by players.
Sometimes you need to go back to basics. Coco won’t get any further forward unless she concentrates on her weaknesses, as I see it her forehand and serve. Her coach has some work to do with her.
Coco hasn't played well since the French Open, both Wimbeldon and Olympics she came up short because of the same struggles, her forehand and her serve. I see Coco firing Brad Gilbert. I see her struggles being more about her focusing on her tennis and being the best and not being consumed by her celebrity status within tennis. Look at Stephens and Osaka, it takes alot to balance your personal affairs, the celebrity and improving your game to stay on top.
I believe she definitely, most definitely needs to let her team go and start fresh! No matter how much she wins or her ranking, these bad techniques will keep coming back to haunt her at the most opportune time. For me, ever since Pera left, (whatever the circumstances) things have gone down hill, and for Zheng, she keeps rising. I hate to make this comparison, but for me BG is more like a single parent. A mother can't be both a mother and a father, and a father can' t be both a father and a mother. Another set of eyes needs to be on her team instructing her and giving direction. We can all see what's missing, but BG is unable to bring it out of her. These double faults will continue to weigh on her mind, and opponents will just wait for her to self-sabotage/self-destruct, for them to win. I can't watch past the first 5 minutes because of the double faults. I just wait to see if she wins, then go back and watch the match. Sorry if I offended anyone with my analogy.
Brad is about winning ugly. Coco needed this when he first joined her team but he does not bring anything else. He gave her that confidence but now she needs to work on her serve and improving her forehand in long rallies. Coco is young but still needs to toughen her mental strength. Coco should play less to have time to work on her game and strengthen her weaknesses. She will get there in the end and when she does, it will take a lot to stop her.
Summing up what Chris Evert said, there are too many voices/suggestions coming from Coco’s box. She turns to her box many times throughout her matches; it appears to affect her focus. Did Emma turn to her box that often? Cameras may have just been on Coco more.
Coco isn't honestly addressing the mounting issues. She wasn't mentally sharp and looked afraid to hit her 2nd serves. The press conference was evasive.
I'm not sure about this idea that Coco is feeling pressure due to having won a slam. She seems to be enjoying her celebrity, and maybe that's the distraction. A coach can drill technique but only the player can execute it on match day. I think she has peaked. I know. She's young. But I don't see her improving until she matures and that may be too late.
Who as a defending champion 🏆 will hit 19 double faults? Only Gauff... Not good. She has to spend the off season working on her serve. She still has a lot to learn but 19 faults were overwhelming🎉🎉🎉
I agree. The serve and return let Coco down in the match with Emma. Overall, Coco has performed well in the Majors this year. I dont understand why she is so scrutinized.
@@trommelbielAttacking her non stop doesn't help either. I'm pretty sure she knows that she has problems in her game that she needs to work on. You don't need to pretend that you're giving constructive criticism when you're really just participating in the typical online hate mob. Yall really sit at home pretending to be experts, and acting like its the easiest thing in the world to play at a high level. Perhaps because the hype around her has been artificially sustained for quite some time and she got labelled as a new Serena by the American media way way too soon. If you look at the highlights of the matches in which she lost, the points shown might suggest otherwise. She's been clearly favoured by the WTA, as well as the commentators, who are supposed to remain impartial. That's why she gets all that scrutiny and criticism.
I really believe Brad is not the best fit..her game and her confidence has deteriorated. Coco is constantly seeking approval and validation from her box.Courtside coaching inhibits players from going within to find there own answers.
I really don’t like how Gauff gets so much hype. She really shouldn’t have won a grand slam, especially when she waits for the opponents mistake. Sabalenka threw that final away.
are you blaming her for the hype or the media?? she reallly shouldn't have won a slam? and who are you to say that? she won fair and square. give it a rest
Am I the only one? Will somebody please explain the unforced error stat🤷🏾♂️? Why isn’t there a forced error stat? Who determines if it was an unforced error as opposed to a forced error? Sound subjective like the reason Zero equal Love😂
chatgpt was like: Unforced Error (UE): This term refers to mistakes made by a player in a rally where they should have had control. It happens when the player is not under significant pressure from the opponent's shot, but they still make an error, such as hitting the ball out or into the net. The idea is that the error could have been avoided with better execution. Why No "Forced Error" Stat?: Forced errors do exist but are not typically highlighted as a separate stat as unforced errors. A "forced error" occurs when a player makes a mistake due to the opponent's strong shot or good placement, forcing them into a difficult position. While some metrics do track forced errors, unforced errors are often emphasized because they reflect a player's self-inflicted mistakes rather than their opponent's skill. Subjectivity: Indeed, determining whether an error is unforced or forced can be subjective. It depends on the interpretation of the situation by the match statistician, who judges whether the player should have been able to handle the shot without making an error. The line between forced and unforced is not always clear, which adds to the perception of subjectivity.
I'm wondering why the spectators as a whole are mostly supporting Coco G; you can hear it in the applause when she wins points. After all, they are both Americans, and Emma N is even from New York.
@@ChristiansCourt But she also has that straining childish behavior when things don't work out for her. I have - as a foreigner - never quite understood the hype around her.

Throughout CoCos career her record against the top 20 has been mediocre. Her record against the top ten is dismal. She lost to a better player period! 60 unforced errors is more than most men make in a five set match.
Golf is a game you have to play play play to be consistent Tennis I think Is even worse in terms of trying to be consistent! Coco yes excellent at times but she is long legged and kind of gangly to coordinate a service motion which is one of toughest moves in sports! She wasn't that far from a win Coco and they actually ripped Coco on a baselinee call! The biggest negative for Coco isn't her own inadequacy ! It is to some degree but it's the onslaught of a group of white girls( mostly) who are trying to push the bar higher and higher! I saw Gilbert when I was in Miami practice practice practice his serve my friend who was a champion tennis player thought he was a goofball as he was pretty alooof from other players!
That's called the Yips. Very hard to break.
I don’t think anyone actually expected her to defend her title as she never backed the US Open win with another big title in 2024.
19 double faults is like giving away almost 5 games. That is extraordinary. Navarro had only two double faults and, as important, *25* less unforced errors (35 v 60). How is that even possible? Great discussion on this channel, thank you for sharing your insights!
Almost an entire set
Including her parents
@@richardsmith1161what’s wrong with her parents?
Her team is fine, it's coco herself, she falls back into old habits that harm her. Also her parents don't coach her anymore, they're there as support.
@@BjustbudgetsBrad needs to go. The way he doesn’t take responsibility and fix an error is not good. And the way he got ate up ( rightfully so ) on air by Rannae just shows it time for him to go !
She has one of the best coaches Brad Gilbert who helped her win a US Open championship you don't know what you're talking about
It wasn't just the 19 double faults that caused Coco to lose.

You can't figure out anything if you spend more time on social media than in the gym or Tennis court.
@@trommelbielYeah, maybe she should log off from social media for awhile so she doesn't have to keep reading comments from people like you who have nothing substantive to contribute to a discussion other than a sassy hate comment for a few likes, which I'm sure is the highlight of your entire existence.
@trommelbiel you say this on RUclips, as if you know these people .
😂😂😂 it's crazy how comfortable you low life are.
Amen!!
No I can't agree, because Coco has made the same mistakes no matter who she has played. I love her and all, but she needs to take time off just to deal with her serve.

genuinely asking, what’s wrong with listening to Gil? 😟
However, Brad needs to go, and I would love to see her work with David Witt - Big Foe looks to be benefiting already 😊
if Coco is her own enemy why does Brad need to go? Sabalenka kept her team
@deusexmachina9776 Brad is not helping, she needs good sound, practical advice when she is struggling on the court, and her serve has got worse under his tutelage.
I liked the fact that when he first joined her team he didn't try to change her forehand and made her start playing high balls down the line, but he has not seemed to have done anything else positive since 🤔
@@ayinke4551 doesnt that situation apply to Sabalenka, wasnt her team not helping her when she was DF and crying on court?
@@deusexmachina9776Coco’s game has declined since working with him
Agree that Brad needs to go.
I love it. Brad puts bandaids over bullets.😂😂😂❤❤❤
Ha, ha, ha. Good stuff Christian. Enjoyed analogy, similes, and metaphors. New subscriber!
Coco seperated from the Coach that was with her when she won the US Open last year... it's been a bumpy ride since then. 😮
And he is now coaching Zheng who just won a gold medal and is through to the quarterfinals. She should have never parted ways with Riba
Subbed! Great analysis
I honestly feel that Pera's departure was as a result of BG's addition to the team. She should've added the Frenchman while she still had Pera and not hired Brad. At this point, just add Stubbs & get rid of BG.
i agree, both Pere Riba and Jarmere Jenkins were vital assets to the team!
Now , the whole world is laughing at her , especially after her very low quality of tennis against Navarro..
why is everyone so eager to ridicule Coco. Weird energy..
“I will do it again” I’m sure she doesn’t say in next year.
I will do it again means exactly that. She didn’t say she will do it again this year.
@coreyburney2331 "I will do it again" Maybe she meant winning over 60 categories as well lol
@@thoyoShe's a narcissist and brat.
I remember Billie Jean King saying after she watched Serena's service when Serena was a kid she told her " Don't change anything"
Everybody knows Serena as the greatest but how many people know how many hours she spent in the gym and there are clips of it on RUclips.
@@trommelbiel Kobe had great mentors and teachers / coaches. Just like Serena. Without them they would not have made the pros. 100% fact.
@@trommelbiel Wrong. You obviously know nothing about tennis or sports as you've stated.
She needs to play more matches and make her serve match tough. Anyone can serve well in practice. She needs to keep grinding
Coco needs a rest. When your tired and not confident the number one thing that goes is the accuracy of the serve. One loses the timing of serve.
Zheng and Vekic showed a great level. It will be hard for Coco to return to the top with players like Zheng or Adrejeva
Coco has the worst forehand among the top players...
It’s the technique it’s a very loopy forehand often breaks down , Gauff could work on being agressive on her forehand hitting it more flat
It’s ultimately on Coco. The coaches ain’t playing for her. She needs to execute a lot better. Her serve and forehand are red flags that will continue to hinder her until she gets it right.
And the coaches are responsible for the technical aspect of her game which is none existent at the moment
@@AllaboutTheCalm478well she’s gone through multiple coaches and her serve and forehand problems still exist. The one constant is her.
Djokovic was also the victim of his double fault mania.
This is ALL about her Serve. FIRE THE COACH!!!
Brad gotta go, one year to fix that forehand and serve and no progress was made
Serve is one element of tennis that is completely, totally controlled by the player.
All tennis players suffer with form ,at some point during the season ...
Yo, dude, you crumbing? You am a racist?
I think she may fire Brad Gilbert, retool her support team. Her game has been spotty since after Roland Garros. She doesn’t seem content w/ everything
Forehand didn't let Coco down? She had 29 forehand unforced errors. Did you watch the match?
BG is all about BG.
Personally I would be pissed if I just lost a major tournament and my coach is not in the back with me but instead getting embarrassed live on ESPN
She was choking like a chicken.
Coco needs to spend a week with Pete Sampras and refine her serve… just sayin’ 🎾
SERENA had much better things to say about Narvarro then Coco. Watch
Brad is just taking her💰💸
I agree. The serve and return let Coco down in the match with Emma. Overall, Coco has performed well in the Majors this year. I dont understand why she is so scrutinized.
Defending her nonstop doesn't do her any good either
Coco is top five people expect someone high ranked to WIN titles. She only has one small title this year.
If that was the case then yall would be on the tour as top players instead of being online as the top haters.

19 double faults as in 1 and 9 ? In a big event as the US Open ? Are you serious ? Sorry, should not quote those infamous " cries ".
I really believe Brad is not the best fit..her game and her confidence has deteriorated. Coco is constantly seeking approval and validation from her box.Courtside coaching inhibits players from going within to find there own answers.
Hitting stronger serve to improve her game?
That is a paradox !
@@russeluc of course - she and her family where hyping her up before the media even caught on
Am I the only one? Will somebody please explain the unforced error stat🤷🏾♂️? Why isn’t there a forced error stat? Who determines if it was an unforced error as opposed to a forced error? Sound subjective like the reason Zero equal Love😂
It is a somewhat flawed and subjective stat.
chatgpt was like: Unforced Error (UE): This term refers to mistakes made by a player in a rally where they should have had control.
If Sabalenka overcame, Coco will do it too. Maybe Coco needs an expert in service
Stop playing doubles in some of these major tournaments
I'm wondering why the spectators as a whole are mostly supporting Coco G; you can hear it in the applause when she wins points. After all, they are both Americans, and Emma N is even from New York.
@@ebbenielsen7 Coco is more popular amongst the casual tennis fans, plus she engaged with the crowd much more
@@ChristiansCourt But she also has that straining childish behavior when things don't work out for her. I have - as a foreigner - never quite understood the hype around her.
maybe it is about color of skin?...looks like
@@maxo1124 I didn't dare mention it myself - some kind of inverted and misunderstood bias, or whatever it's called.
@@ebbenielsen7 A foreigner is bothered by Coco Gauff's "childish behavior when things don't work out for her." Perhaps you are a casual tennis 'fan' or you enjoy hate watching Coco Gauff matches, however I will bring to light that Coco isn't the only WTA/ATP player who demonstrates "childish behavior" Have you ever observed foreign players with a culture of anger and juvenile behavior, such as Holger Rune, Jelena Ostapenko, Nick Kygrios, Yoshihito Nishioka, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Yulia Putintseva(?)
Coco seems mentally overwhelmed 😮💨 very talented girl, she'll be back
19 double faults?!
Thats almost 5 games.
Coco is way way too overrated!!....two Americans playing but the crowd mostly cheering only for one!!!....how sad!!
Maybe if she played Rank players her and iga
Throughout CoCos career her record against the top 20 has been mediocre. Her record against the top ten is dismal. She lost to a better player period! 60 unforced errors is more than most men make in a five set match.
I see a coaching change- Renee destroyed Brad and he deserved it he shouldn’t have done that interview- Renee is the best,
Errors errors errors galore. She plays aggressive but can't control her unforced errors.
Unacceptable! She is quickly heading downward.
Just like Novak; unreal # of double faults for both defending US Open defending champs bounces them from the tournament.
omg i’m the first one here. how fun. how cool. how nice.
That is way too many double faults. I play like 10 matches a month and I don't get 19 double faults a month.
Here me out-Serena comes on board with Brad to help Coco…👀
Coco needs to include weights in her arsenal
Cost her the tournament? If she played Swiatek or Sabalenka playing like that she'd win 2-3 games max...
@@johnconnell5392 it cost her the title TODAY
Hire Nick: FIRE Brad (PRONTO!!!).
