This was the Stones summer of 78 disco #1 song. The harmonica was indeed played by a man called Sugar Blue. I had heard the band found him playing on a platform of Paris metro and brought him into studio. Ronnie Wood said once he heard Sugar Blue playing his jaw dropped at how good it was. It was one of those moments for him and I got impression you felt the same. Keep rocking to the Stones.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there are least two more versions, both longer. One with a guitar solo, the other with an extended sax solo. And maybe a third with both? Whatever the case, any of them would be better to react to than this clipped "single" or "radio edit" version. But I don't blame the reactors per se, just disappointed that those who actually submit this as a song suggestion don't specify a longer version.
I was 17 when this came out. My fave. Mick's wife at the time Bianca was the queen of Studio 54. She said they should do a disco record. This was the result. Great tune
Thanks, Angela. The harmonica on Miss You was played by blues musician Sugar Blue, who was performing on the streets of Paris when Mick Jagger heard him and ended up bringing him into the studio. Take care. ☮
I love The Rolling Stones. I was 10 yes old when this came out and I remember seeing the video. Now I'm not sure if it was Hot Traxx or Friday Night Videos but I do know we didn't have cable TV back then .I love the song Angie, Start Me Up, and there's a video of Mick and ms Tina Turner on stage I don't know what they're singing but they both look amazing on stage together
"Miss You" was playing everywhere you went during the summer of 1978. And the album version with the sax solo is even better! When you're ready for more "Disco" Stones, check out "Hot Stuff" from 1976, "Emotional Rescue" from 1980, and "Undercover of the Night" from 1983.
I commend you on your kindness and thoughtfulness for saying people need to make sure their elderly neighbors have enough water. Very cool and very nice.
I love this Stones song! Classic…probably my favorite song by them or top 3 🤔 also Angela GREAT idea for looking out for are elderly….some of them have family or friends because they are gone 😢 TREAT our Elderly as if it was your loved one 🙏🏻❤️❤️🙏🏻
Thank you, Angela! Love this song. Also a great message as well. Peace and Love to you. Keep up the great work, channel. 👍👍 PS. Now, please do "Far away eyes", also by the Rolling Stones. You will love it!
Hey Angela 👋 If you want to see some of the Rolling Stones at their BEST, you might enjoy, "Can't You Hear Me Knocking." Talk about a jam session, ai ai aiiiii, too hot!!! Nice reaction, and very kind of you to talk about old folks with no family. Yeah, I know how that works. 😢 Anyway, happy Days! 😊🥂
This song from thier Some Girls (1978) record, the ENTIRE record is banger! Some must-listen suggestions: Hey Negrita, Winter, Finger Print File, Harlem Shuffle, Waiting on a friend, Worried About You, Beast Of Burden. The hole is very, very deep...... 31 studio albums to pick from and counting. Enjoyed your reaction, always fun. TY.
Huge song on the radio when I was a kid. Album kicks ass as well. Mick was living the high life in NYC during the late 70's. Obviously had an ear on the emerging disco scene. Great reaction as usual Angela. This one sounds like a slight re-mix, is it straight off the original album ?
This one did catch some criticism from the older hard rock fans for being too much like disco. I always liked it in fact I bought the extended “disco” version that I found in the discount rack.
We....here in Northern and the Entire California except San Francisco & San Diego, have been and are right now experiencing 4 weeks of temperatures of 106 degrees in the day & 88 degrees at night....from 9 pm to 3 am.....I understand....we will get through this summer as we usually do!!!! Please hang in there!!!!
1978...College for me... Frat house down the street had a party and played this damned song all night, hahahhahaha. Stones played this song on SNL and Shattered, with famous tongue lick between Jagger and Richards... "Eeeoooowww!"
I actually like and respect this song more than it first came out. It shows the Stones's ability to try something completely different. This is why they are the #1 rock band for me ahead of Led Zeppelin who has my #1 rock song of all time, "Stairway to Heaven."
Best part is after Mick's last vocal and they just groove. That part could go on for 5 minutes because they're such a superior band. One of the all-time rhythm sections.
I think the Rolling Stones are very fun group. I have a list of there favorite songs that like so much , Like , Get off My Cloud, Satisfaction, Jumping Jack Flash, You can't always get what you want. etc.
Back then they got some slamming on jumping to disco train, but Mick Jagger countered by saying that disco is another derivative of soul & r 'n' b, and the Stones are / were a (British) r 'n' b band. In Britain the r & b in the 60's was understood to be blues blended with the beat taken from pop music of the day, giving a more rough sound but uptempo. Rolling Stones was one of the groups emerging around that style.
What can I say about The Rolling Stones who I watched as a child of 7 years come into the public with their bratty bad boy style on the radio....Still like "Under My Thumb" Love that song and "I Can't Get No Satisfaction" They are legendary and Mick Jagger is one of the best frontman, along with Steven Tyler, in Rock n' Roll History. Make sure you react to him performing live in a video!!!!
If you're a musician, you know how tasty the Stones got in the 70s. Some call it their disco era, nothing could be further from the truth. This is jazz, funk, punk, rock at it's best. Just listen to that tasty bass, how it moves around even going into syncopation with the drums at the cool down. The guitar is comping, jazz-like in the background, and those jazz lessons Charlie was taking really began to show up in the 70s. Great song.
There's a song called Gimme shelter by the stones. There's a appearance by Merry Clayton she received a phone call at 2:00 in the morning to sing lyrics she arrived pregnant in her pajamas and curlers in her hair not knowing really who the band was! If you research her there's a vocal isolation and tells you a little bit about the history of this song. If it doesn't make you well up and burst into tears nothing will
I appreciate what you say about the the elderly to many times they've been pushed to the background and forgotten by family and government😢 so as individuals , please lets keep up with them.
thats good to be thinking about old lonely people out there.. theres plenty that not only may not have things they need, or be able to do things for themselves, but theres some lonely old people out there that would love to just have someone come and visit them.. getting old can be a very sad experience for some, and they may be totally alone in the world.. all their friends are long dead, and their families, if they had any, may not even come around

This was their attempt to record a Disco, rock, pop song! It's not bad, but I Was Made For Loving You by KISS is 🔥 fire and 😎 cool at the same time! Maybe you can react to it one day! Thanks for your concern about your fellow humans! As I've said before, I wish there were more people like you! It is also extremely beyond 🔥🥵 hot where I am, and sometimes I want to move to a 🆒😎 cooler place, and I might one day! Take care! Bye!
Oh wrong version. This version was cut down for radio. So sorry you did not do the LP version :( You would have liked it sooo much more. Harmonica solo and guitar solo is cut from this version.
Is this remix night? 3rd time tonight that I watched a reaction video that played a remix version of the song. Or am I wrong ? I had the album. This sounds different.
That brings back another of memories. I just graduated that year. And by July of that year ,I was station overseas in the army. I believe you would had a great time in the late 60s and the 70s. Just by your reaction to the music of that time. Keep up the good work. Thank you for your opening about the older people and the animals. In this weather we are having all around the world. ❤😊
Solid hit off of Some Girls. Some didn't appreciate it, thinking the "greatest band in rock n roll" was becoming disco. But, they were off base. It's an excellent RnB laced dance along song. Ranks up there with their best.
It was a great sobg from a great band, but you're crazy if you think the Stones weren't specifically and pointedly trying to cash in on the disco craze when they wrote this song -- just like many other rock bands did at the time.
@@MarkMay-cr6bv Written by Mick and Billy Preston, with Keith also getting a credit. Mick & Ron Wood said it wasn't conceived as a disco song. It's a great journey going through the Rolling Stones catalogue. They were quite adventurous in soul, gospel, country, funk, pop, rock....
Probably my favorite Stones song.
FOOL TO CRY, PLAY WITH FIRE, ANGIE, DEAD FLOWERS, SLAVE, HEAVEN, LOVE IS STRONG, etc.
Frustrating that most reactors to this song play the shortest version of it, as did Day One again here.😢
@@HidingFromFate We got short changed. lol

@@HidingFromFate the album is SOME GIRLS.
You're a genuine person. Take care of the elderly, kids, and pets out there.
Greatest Rock n Roll band ever 🤘🤘
“What’s the matter with you, boy?” 😃😃😃🇬🇧🇬🇧😃😃
ch,ch,ch,ch
"Whatsamattawich you boy" lol
From the same album “Beast of Burden” is my favourite Stones tune. I promise you’ll love it.
I was 17 when this came out. My fave. Mick's wife at the time Bianca was the queen of Studio 54. She said they should do a disco record. This was the result. Great tune
As an older person (74) I commend you for your kindness and thoughtfulness. 🤠
❤ That bass line
Thanks, Angela. The harmonica on Miss You was played by blues musician Sugar Blue, who was performing on the streets of Paris when Mick Jagger heard him and ended up bringing him into the studio. Take care. ☮
Lovely request for the elderly…love that❤
Thats so sweet of u to think of elderly people. Your s sweetie
you are good! one of the few songs i liked by them! guess i gotta duck now!
One of my favorite Rolling Stones songs. So good!
Your a beautiful soul, inside and outside.
THANK YOU for using your platform to promote kindness and support for our elderly neighbors.
❤
Terrific choice Angela

Yes, one of their better tunes. Top five maybe.
So many great tracks by the Stones , great harmonicas on this one and that bass line
thank you for the nice thoughts.
Your smile is awesome luv it

To quote Mark Knopfler "Mel Collins on the saxophone."
Remember when this first played ,, it was so big for the club and skate rinks !!😊😊🔥🔥

You need to listen to the longer full version of the song. This is just a single version
thank you for curing my "this version sounds different"? issues
Thank you for looking out for the community.
I saw them live in las vegas a couple months ago, Mick absolutely rocked the harmonica
Love the Stones and this song ❤😊
Lady, I just saw your heart, and it is HUGE!
The Stones do disco. And kill it. Huge hit in '78. The album it's from, 'Some Girls' is fab too!
Lovely Angela.
Thank you, Angela!
Love this song.
Also a great message as well.
Peace and Love to you.
Keep up the great work, channel. 👍👍
PS. Now, please do "Far away eyes", also by the Rolling Stones.

I agree with you about their songs, some I like, some are okay, some don't do much for me, but I love this one!

The uncut version is about 15 minutes long but only available on bootlegs. There is a 12" Club mix that's about 8:00 long.
I needs that 8 minute club mix though. I NEEDS IT!
Great request. Bringing back fun memories of the summer.
My favorite Rolling Stones song. Thanks for reacting Angela!

The Rolling Stones started as a blues band. They could get funky from time to time. This is an example.

This is an edited version. You need to hear the original album version with the wicked sax solo.
People think I'm crazyyyyy.
Not sure if you consider that song a Disco song but it was my 1st 12" Disco Inch Single.
As a vinyl DJ I bought 1000s after that.
I was 9 years old when this was popular.
Great advice my dear, it's 106° today and it will be 109° tomorrow. I can't help my elderly neighbors much though, they're on an Alaskan cruise. 🥶
My jam!
Thanks, (from an older person) but we can drink from the tap or the hose before we dehydrate. Bottled water didn't exist until we were already adults.
Even the Rolling Stones were affected by Disco as you can tell by this song.
Good Song DALLAS TEX 100* Hot ThanksWatter
We have running water where I live. Kitchen sink. My refrigerator makes ice. I've never bought a bottle of water.
What you described as a harmonica could possibly be a violin or cello ( is what I used to think ) 😊❤
In 1978 I was 11 years old the stones are definitely one of the greatest bands ever
This song isca great watch from the Voodoo Lounge Concert. Song A great watch? ...shh listen, do you smell something 😅
The stones were awesome
When the stones went Disco.
When your career spans over six decades and your catalog looks like a phone directory there's bound to be a few that are not your cup of tea.
One of their best, even if it's a little Disco for the Stones.
I appreciate what you say about the the elderly to many times they've been pushed to the background and forgotten by family and government😢 so as individuals , please lets keep up with them.
It was a good song, different for the Stones
