I have owned every VW also a GTI and I have no complaints with my 2024 SE 4 motion Taos. I Like the 4 motion better than the front wheel drive because it has the GTI double clutch transmission. The room in it is great for a small SUV. You have to remember a Golf or Golf wagon is a regular sedan car. You match the taos with other small suv's and the taos will win.
I’m looking to replace my Golf wagon which I absolutely love. I test drove the Taos with a open mind hoping that I might like driving a SUV. I have to honestly say that the Taos doesn’t make the cut compared to my golf wagon! Simply put, its not fun to drive because SUVs are lifted. To be realistic a suv is nothing but a bloated wagon on stilts. If VW brings a wagon back to the US, I will be first in line for one.
Crossovers are so popular because they are easy-in and easy-out, sort of a lateral move to get in and out. Cars are too low to the earth and real SUV's are a small jump up to get into and a fall out to exit. Better view of the road too when you're higher up.
designed by german, put together in MX , tiny 1.5 with turbo with plastic housing top and bottom , this is going to be a money pit within a year , hard pass for me

These TSI engines will last longer than you think.
