Thanks for posting this! There are so many variables! I think one thing to add here would be low-fire pottery and pit firing, as that is something that most people who have a yard can do at home without much special equipment. I currently fire electric and am working on refurbishing a used gas kiln. I'm excited to expand my firing capabilities and looking forward to you sharing things you've learned with your new gas fire experiences.

Wood kiln sounds like quite an undertaking! Would be fun to be a part of.

I'm enjoying this video so far. This semester, my top focus in ceramics class is going to be understanding how the kilns work.

Great Video! 🙌 I have always wanted to try backyard fire kiln. Saw it on British pottery show and it looked like fun, but sadly I rent... plus noisey neighbour with a little too much time on their hands! lol Otherwise, I would be in the backyard digging/preparing a hole for firing!.

Thanks for your videos. I was wondering if you have ever had any pottery fired in St. John’s Johanna kiln?

Cool video. What about heating kiln with wood pellets. Would be possible or it will not achieve enough high temperature?

This is great! I would be curious to hear about firing costs for electric vs gas! I'm assuming the former is cheaper, but maybe it all depends on where you live or whether it's winter or summer for gas

So really this “different ways to fire GLAZED pottery” since pit firing is not mentioned. It is fun, and quick, and has a long, long history. Don’t discount it.
