  • On this Fleet Friday Engineer Howard and Firefighter Kuhn provide an in-depth tour of Rescue 34. The vehicle is a 1999 E-One Cyclone that was originally purchased with a command module in the cab, which has since been replaced with jump seats. The Rescue responds district wide on all confirmed commercial and multi-family structure fires, heavy vehicle extrications, entrapments, collapses, rope rescues and traffic accidents with structures involved.

    The truck looks awesome, no doubt, but a serious question: wouldn't it be much more maneuverable, if the compartments were designed to make more out of the available space and thus fit the same equipment on a more compact truck?
    Just look at 1:17 , 1:24 or 3:20 - there's so much unused space above the equipment or most sub-compartments with the equipment; Only few of the compartments use all the available space. Sth which might seem a bit strange to me is how much equipment is stored in seperate bags.
    How old is the truck? It's been some time that I saw window crank handles on an emergency vehicle

    • @hyfavey

      The rest of the lockers are pretty much cramped. Some extra space is never a bad thing, there is always will to fill the space.

    • @EnjoyFirefighting

      @@hyfavey SOME extra space is okay, but having like 50% of the available space left doesn't make sense to me.

    I might have missed it in the video but is there an assigned crew for the Heavy Rescue? Or is it cross-staffed with the Tower Truck?
    Also, it appears as both the Heavy Rescue and Tower Truck have "temporary" number 34 placards on each. Are they both reserve units? If so, where are the actual units?

    • @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO
      @SouthMetroFireRescuePIO  Год назад +2

      Rescue 34 is cross-staffed by the crew of Tower 34 when needed. In this video, Tower 34 was using a reserve aerial. Since 2013 the front line aerials, engines, tenders and staff vehicles use decal numbers. All Medic units and reserve suppression apparatus have interchangeable number plates and wildland apparatus have magnetic numbers.

    @South Metro Fire Rescue PIO
    In the video at approximately 17:55 To 17:59,...,What's the chances of a brother in blue and also some full time & volly fighters finding some of them, and purchasing one for myself for my unit at work, and also the full-time and volly depts in my area are watching and are very interested too and they would like to purchase several! If we new the exact name for it, we could look it up ourselves and see if we could even find and purchase the tool, but we don't even know what it's called, nor have we ever even seen one ourselves, because none of are Full Time Fire & Rescue, nor any of are Volly Houses or Guys have one, nor seen one. So all of us are thanking maybe there only made & used out yals way and are not popular or even made it out this way yet, cause everybody we have showed locally has no clue what it is, or it's use, but like I said I would like to buy one for my unit, and the Volly Guys watching with me would like to buy some for each truck and engine at each house they have, and also all the full Time fighters I showed and asked if they new what it was, they would like to purchase several to have for there Engines, Trucks, and of course there Rescue' s One, Three, and Five, that's if we can find them and the price is reasonable for the city to approve the purchase, I'm sure you know how that goes. But anyways, I guess what me and all the guys in the Middle TN area are asking is, Do you happen to know either the name for the tool, or is it possible to purchase this tool or is it homemade by yal or what's the deal?!? If not, Maybe it could be purchesed threw like Galls or whatever company you might have bought it from?!? Any help from anyone that knows what that tool is @ 17:55-17:59 would be greatly apprieated. Thanks in advance from a brother in blue & Full Time/Volly Guys watching from Middle Tennessee!!!!! Stay safe yal, and watch your 6!!!
