Man once I get my first software job, I am 100% going to give back to the community and help college new grads out. The amount of frustration and self doubt that this rat race has put me through is astronomical. I graduated cum laude from a pretty good university in May and still have yet to get my foot in the door. I think I may take the tech influencer route to optimize my networking and give advice to college students.
    Great video as always!

I'm a self-taught front-end developer looking for a new job. You nailed a lot of topics in the head in your videos and I really like how you talk about things like burnouts and mistakes to avoid. Inspiring for sure

Great last tip. Rejection sensitivity is like the main thing that stresses me out constantly and makes me think I have general anxiety disorder because I worry about rejection way before any chance of it happening.

I don't even work in the software industry but I can still relate to this so much even with just a few internship experiences (crazy burnouts for that return offer). Thank you so much for sharing

"Look Out For Your Own Best Interests"
A great advice for Juniors! You don't need to prove yourself by working longer hours, on bigger projects by yourself, and constantly learning new technology. Let it go and say no. That end of the year bonus isn't worth your TIME. Your TIME is so much more valuable!

Thank you so much for your videos. They always calm the thoughts I have about not being good enough or not working hard enough. Your videos make me realize I'm right on track and what I'm experiencing is a normal part of the job. I wish more of the tech industry was as empathetic and humble as you.

Another point I'll mention: Don't live in Portugal, most employers will pay you peanuts and it's barely enough to survive and pay rent (we're talking about ~800-1400€ rent and around 1000-1700€ monthly salary, the top of the range usually reserved for senior positions with more than 10 years of experience). All of this while having to constantly be studying and be on top of the game for the new libraries/frameworks that are coming out, etc... It really does make you feel miserable knowing you barely get by with a job in a STEM field, compared to most other countries where it does pay relatively fairly and allow you to have a good life.

most miserable part is teamwork. always one or a few people doing all the work and the rest have no problem letting someone else do their work. and then they somehow have the audacity to ask for good word during performance reviews. the sad part is I can tell these people are genuinely kind people outside of work.

I don’t think anyone can be good at anything if one put the mind in it unless one has already above certain IQ.
It sounds good to believe it. However, it is better to be brutal honest for the fact that some just could not make it.
We need to be self awareness what we are good at.
    Thanks for sharing.

I just finished watching a video about a premier league footballer who didn’t make it until he was 26… however the whole time everyone he played with knew he was out of this world. The reason he made it late was because he had deep self confidence issues and was an alcoholic
We really underestimate how far talent alone will take you.

Easy - don't want to be miserable - stay away from web. There's a whole wide world, full of exciting domains, outside of web, yet everyone seem to default to the most enraging and annoying of all software development fields.
