I wonder if our beloved elders who have left the building, are looking down on us from above and chuckling a little saying : we danced to this stuff 60 yrs ago, everything old is new again..... Totally dig it though!
I just seen The Mavericks today July 3rd 2016 at Jazzfest in Syracuse, and was away.i fell in love with the lead singer voice. They put on a great show, now I'm a fan. Thank you gentlemen.loved the colored suits.
Maria, I don't think that there is a genre that Raul Malo can't nail down. Country, rock, Sinatra, Spanish and Latin American standards, even classical. Name it, he can do it. I used to dance Ballroom and latin for years, and with or without the Mavericks, I hada great time dancing Salsa, Tango, Waltz, quickstep, Slow Foxtrot, Cha-cha-cha, jive to them. A rumba to "Here Comes The Rain" with my special lady was just sublime. Maybe like me, once you;ve heard them you'l want lots more!
Cannot believe I just discovered them! I can listen to them all day/all night long. Now, if I could figure away to listen and not dance for a minute maybe I could get a few things done!
Saw the Mavericks at least a dozen times or more ...was able to see them in a club in NYC called Tramps in he early days of their rise...and met the all the band member back in the dressing room, except Raul would not come out to meet with the fans...Raul, you ARE the Mavericks, but that was wrong, very wrong...still love you brother...Peace & Love.
Wife and me drove 250 miles to see these guys for the 4/29 show in Royal Oak, MI. I would do it every week if they were in town. :) Had an awesome time. The venue was somewhat small which made it even better. And the beer was ice cold.
I am one of there NEW SUPER FAN.....I FEEL SUPER CHARGED WITH PEP IN MY STEP. I start my day everyday with a smile when I listen to them....thank you Mavericks. I love your band. God Bless you. Denise's May from San Diego
I first saw them on PBS and was blown away by their talent and couldn’t understand why I had never seen them before! Was lucky enough to see them in Royal Oak, Mi. Not a note not a voice not a rhythm not a song not a dance move could be better. The instrumentals, the entertainment. Unreal. where have they been. Raul has major charisma and he is up there with Roy and I’m surprised to say it but even Elvis. Absolutely my favorite band. Get more than your moneys worth because they put on a long show with the best of everything.
BADASSS!!! I LOVE ME SUM "MAVERICKS" mi carnal turned me onto them but I didnt kik it good wit him but later in life, I STARTED LISTENING TO THEM AND LOVED THEM!!!!!!!!!!
I'd believe you better Raul if you'd sing into the camera. Most exciting, perfect performances I've enjoyed in Pittsburgh over the last two years. Thank you Mavericks!
LOVE The Mavericks! Saw them at the Minnesota state fair a few years ago. They rocked the bandshell. Everyone was dancing. Seeing them soon in Hinckley Mn. Great song too!
Heading to see them in Hinckley next weekend as well. The MN State Fair shows was AMAZING Both nights. Even had my little girls dancing with Daddy most of the night. They are now Maverick fans. :)
Saw them this last October in Green Bay Had a blast REO played after The Mavericks I mainly went to see The Mavericks I WAS SO GLAD I DID ❤I didnt want them to stop ❤🎉
I loved them early on back in the 90's.....but what the hell happened??? They had a good string of country hits back in the day, I still have the CD I bought back in high school in 93'-94'........can you really classify these guys as a country group???
It's strange; I love classic rock. My favourite bands are Black Sabbath, The Stranglers ... and The Mavericks. What genre are they? I thought they were country but this song isn't, is it? I love every song of theirs.
My local radio plays this and they play goooood stuff. Woodstock ny, maybe ya heard of it. They seem to know what a good band and tune is, had to come from there to add it to my playlist. wdst.com Figured I’d share
The Mavericks have always had a hard time getting as much radio play as they should because they don't fit neatly into any category. They used to be a little more country IMHO. Raul, the lead singer and lead songwriter, is of Cuban descent and grew up in Miami speaking both Spanish and English fluently. Much of his music has always had a Latin beat, and I feel they've been leaning into that more in recent years. This particular song with the horns and orchestration has a lot of the "big band" feel of the music of the Big Band era. I'd call their music a mix of Latin, Country, Big Band, Country, and Tejano. Good luck trying to find anything comparable.
Great stuff back then and before. Some say even better now! Moon & Stars… wow what an album.
Damn! Raul's vocals are out of this world!
Ohh Yessssss!
Easily my favorite band of all time. I could listen to Raul sing the phone book and be entertained.
+Wade Alexander That is so true Wade. It doesn't matter what he sings it still sounds amazing.
I just need him to release an album every week for the next ten years. :)
I agree.
I've said the same exact thing! We just saw them last weekend...what an absolutely incredible show!
Love them!
Been loving Raul and The Mavericks for YEARS!!!
Me as well
"The Voice" Raul Malo" is back with a killer sound and band.
Caught them at the Carnegie in Homestead. Great! Hope to catch them Sept. 26, 2021 at the Byham in Pittsburgh. Can’t wait!
So Great The Mavericks, the voice of Raoul out of this world.

Now that you're mentioning it; yes he does!!
The Derailers, they replaced the Derailers as my fav.
I'd believe you better Raul if you'd sing into the camera. Most exciting, perfect performances I've enjoyed in Pittsburgh over the last two years. Thank you Mavericks!
All about the bass. Only way to cop a grove that takes over the whole band is an armful of the big H.
I could not sit still had to get up and dance
LOVE The Mavericks! Saw them at the Minnesota state fair a few years ago. They rocked the bandshell. Everyone was dancing. Seeing them soon in Hinckley Mn. Great song too!

They are late 1950s ala Holley and Orbison
Celia They really have no genre. They're rock, country, latin, blues.
AMERICANA!
thank you! that is very cool of you saying that. you should see them live.
My local radio plays this and they play goooood stuff.
Woodstock ny, maybe ya heard of it.
They seem to know what a good band and tune is, had to come from there to add it to my playlist.

Figured I’d share
So what sort of, style of latin music can this be considered? Or suggestions for bands who sound like this? It's great
Tex-Mex kinda of
Eric Allen nobody's quite as good as these guys, Calexico has some good stuff.

I'm going to see them tomorrow evening in Cincinnati, Oh
Try the Spanish Elvis. Rauuuuuul!!!
This is real Hispanic Country with a twist.
Badass
Salsa !!
Ole!
What type of dance is that?
Sounds like Amy Winehouse You Know I'm No Good with different words.
This sounds like if Ricky Martin came out in the 1950's.
Miami Cuban Tex mex
such a sexy song.. and the video is off the hook
woah
😎🤙🤙🤙
What type of music style is this? (How would you 'label' it?) I'm trying to find more in the vein.... thank you...
