    • @treedillinger5801
      @treedillinger5801 4 года назад +5

      @Antonio Barkley my point was that if it was in a group of friends and not meant as an insult it was no big deal. We accepted each other and could joke around, as long as it was genuinely all love, and I don’t just mean that word. If we ignore the context and feel less comfortable joking with each other are we really LESS racist as a society? Idk man. But to your point: you’re right, everyone can stop saying it, I’m not saying it’s necessary to say that word. I’m just saying we should accept each other. Maybe I was lucky to grow up with all kinds of people, or maybe everyone is getting sensitive. But I’ll do my part.

      There's no we. There's people who grandparents actually lived through slavery and Jim crow who are still alive. At Thanksgiving they tell the stories being forced to pick cotton till their hands bleed or their mom forced to breastfeed wyte children. My grandpa fought American war was left for dead by wyte Conrad's defending America. Only to come home to lynchings and being called n word. So just because your African ancestors didn't experience jim crow ect don't mean others hasn't experience the worst racism even till today. You're free to do what you want but every action has a reaction. Call someone daughters a B and you'll get a reaction. I'm sure we're are intelligent to know what words not to use.

    • @treedillinger5801
      @treedillinger5801 2 года назад +3

      @@Cng215 but that’s my point. It’s about context and intent; not words. People can use certain words in a certain context and not mean anything negative…or they can be racist, sexist or generally hateful without using those words. We should be able to tell the difference. Words can even be used satirically to expose something about society. That’s the entire concept behind black people using the n words as a term of endearment. So my point was: if we’re pretending not to be able to tell the difference- or even accusing people of being something we KNOW they’re not: I see that as moving backwards. That pushes us further apart.

      The n-word comes from the Latin word “ niger “ which means black. The word was never used to dehumanise black people or put them down. When Europeans first encountered black people they named them after a physics characteristics. Just as we did with cats, dogs, plants and everything else the man kind has ever encountered… if people are really worried about what used to dehumanise black people then they should be concerned with eradicating violence, rape, hunger… those were the things used to dehumanise black people and they are horrible. The n word doesn’t have any deeper racial meaning. It just means black.

    Don’t people know that there’s a difference when the word is used with an “a” or an “az” on the end compared to when the word is used with the “er” on the end of it. Most people that grow up n the inner city or around certain black folk listening to hip hop/rap everyday use the word ending in “a” or “az” which is nothing but slang for saying partna, homie, etc. If someone uses the word with the “er” on the end of it trust me u will definitely know, it’s a very distinct sound and u will know the proper action to take when it rolls off they’re lips. Other minorities use the slang version of the word everyday and it’s not an issue because they’re using the slang version not the disrespectful version of the word. If ur not black just be aware of ur surroundings because some black folk aren’t gonna try to figure out which phrase of the word ur using they’re just gonna bust ur shit open and not give a fuck about where u grew up at.

    At the end of the day I will say this as a black man. White people and black people made that word popular. White people made it popular as a derogatory term and it’s fucked how they did it. However blacks made it popular in the sense that after it was used to demean us we took it and ran with it. So it’s like this if we want it to change if we don’t want people to use it we have to stop using it ourselves. We have to stop popularizing it further in our culture. That’s why me as a black man I try not to say it because I respect the history around it and I understand what pain and suffering came with that word. We can’t blame people for following trends when we create those trends and we can’t discriminate with race and say that we as blacks have a right to say that word. Whether your who’re black Asian or Latino the pain behind that word doesn’t change so really no one should say it.

    Asian rappers and singers should never say the N word if Asian rappers and singers do not have Black heritage. But if Asian rappers and singers are born to one Black parent in a family like the rapper and singer Saweetie for example born to a Black father and a Filipino and Chinese mother. Yes those Asian rappers who have Black heritage can say the N word. Fun story about Asians and Black people. I have a Blasian cousin born in the middle east Asian country Kuwait to a Filipino mother and a Black American father where my cousin can say the N word anytime he needs and wants whenever he raps and sings songs and whenever my cousin talks and hangs out with people.
