I hate how yamcha is made to be into a complete joke, just because clowning on yamcha was the meta and popular thing to do. I remember when he was a badass martial artist that just happened to be a little goofball on the side. Making yamcha into a cowardly wimp was one of the greatest acts of character assassination I've ever seen. 😭
Yeah, like, lets be honest, he was always a bit of a goofball and never the strongest or most serious character...but good God, he was never THIS pathetic! The reason he has that pose is because the Saibaman was a real threat and ambushed him, not because he somehow lost to a weakling!
He was a joke in Dragon Ball too. He could barely keep up with Goku when he was a child, and his character motivations were ridiculous. He was never a badass. Your recollection of Dragon Ball (a comedy series I remind you) is warped if you think otherwise. Toriyama never wanted him to be someone the audience took seriously. That's been consistent across the entire franchise.

One of the better filler episodes it doesn't quite rival Goku and Piccolo getting their driver's license during the Android Saga timeskip after Namek but it's quite good.
Honestly. I still to this Day have no Clue what Gender… Puar is! The Transforming Kitty Bat should make a Damn wish to be A Transforming Human Female so that she could be By Yamacha at this point.
As much as people clown on Yamcha, it's mostly for the memes. He's actually the third most powerful full-human in the series, after only Krillin and Tien. Plus, he's independently wealthy from his career as a professional baseball player. If you were to put him in any other universe, there are few he wouldn't solo with little difficulty. Unfortunately, the meme has become accepted as fact among those who don't understand that it's actually a meme and he gets ripped on for it. He also gets a lot of grief for how flirtatious he is when that is entirely Bulma's fault. Before they started dating, Yamcha couldn't even speak to a girl. He'd lock up with anxiety. Bulma expected him to act a certain way towards her (because she was a teenage girl at the time) so that's the only way he knows how to talk to most women.
Uub and even Roshi (don't forget Roshi beat Tien in the recruitment episode, and was considered by Goku as a participant before Tien and Yamcha) are stronger than Yamcha, and that's because I know you won't count the Androids as "human" even though they are. So he's basically stronger than Videl, go Yamcha! And Yes, he was a coward when it came to basically speaking to women until Bulma showed up, but then even though it's never explicitly stated it is alluded multiple times in DB and DBZ that Yamcha basically cheated on Bulma. In DB when they fought it was because "Yamcha is popular with the girls" or in the Saiyan saga when Bulma broke up with him for good she said Yamcha did something horrible and that's why she wants nothing to do with him. After that Bulma upgraded to Vegeta, and never looked back. Sure she teases him, but it's because it's fun and because she can. Be honest what is Yamcha going to do? Also, sure he's got money (idk if he's rich) even though he lived off Bulma for a long time, and he's good at Baseball, but remember this is a fighting show. Take Gohan for example. By all metrics he succeed at life; he has a great wife, and is a great husband and father. He loves and is very passionate about his career. Probably makes good money and even if he doesn't he will never be poor because his father is law is actually rich. He has great friends that love, support him and are always there for him. Both of his parents love and are proud of his success and support him. All of that, YET he still got owned horribly (as an adult) by first form Frieza.... I'm not trying to piss Gohan fans off, but "tracksuit Gohan" is as close as you can get to Yamcha without being Yamcha. Memes and jokes have truth to them. Let's be honest, Yamcha (and Tien too btw), should've been "Launched" from the show ages ago. There is a reason why he only shows up for filler episodes, big reunion episodes or spirit bomb moments. Name one impressive or memorable thing Yamcha does in DBZ. Besides his death to the Saibaman, and getting a hole punched in his chest by Gero, what else do you remember from him in DBZ? How did his story progress in those 4 arcs? See Master Roshi can get away with it, because he's the main character's father figure - but I don't want to get into the other characters, because this would be longer than it needs to be.
