About the Raku piece, this pot was a mix of techniques. The fine lines on the lower half are horse hair. The piece was taken out of the fire and the hair was thrown on it. The hair was burned, leaving only the charred lines. This was an additional technique to the finished product. For its size and the finest quality of the design, I'd say that your pot is worth around the 300 dollar mark, well worth the 20 plus hours it took to make it. The elephant is also Raku. I just sold mine for 60 dollars.
They do use horse hair and other carbon based natural additions (like grasses and feathers) for staining, but this is not one of those. It is crackling due to the different coefficient of expansion of the glazes during cooling. Sometimes the maker will colour areas of the crackle with ink to make the cracks appear more prominent. Auction price will depend on who made it and how old it is. Worth the $20 something price on the label imo.
@@Texasbaubles Well, just call you Karen. My major in college was fine arts with a proficiency in ceramics. I know what I know and I only comment on what I know. The “liquor houses” are given to business class passengers traveling on KLM. They contain gin when they are distributed to clients.
