Thing about Donegal and Armagh is that because they’re in Division 2 against (usually) lower opposition they can afford to play more aggressive attacking football
I agree that changing the rules isn’t the way to go, that only makes the sport more confusing from U8s all the way to senior level. Certain rules like offering more points for longer range scores and limiting the amount of players in the back line sound good on paper but in practice only confuse things even more

Those early low scoring games were fascinating for a couple of reasons. One you had behinds like in Aussie rules. Two it was 21 a side. Three Probably the reason they were so low scoring the team with the most goals one; points were only tiebreakers. I guess teams were going for goals and taking the points if they had to. Anyways it didn't kill football.
Eventually someone's gonna figure out how to defeat the blanket defense it's a phase just let it pass.

The GAA will always make me laugh in these instances, we pride ourselves in certain stuff like ‘Playing for your county, no transferring between counties, amateur players but we expect you to have the fitness standards of a professional athlete etc’ and then complain when these values result in inevitable problems arising.
A county like Fermanagh with a small population, rugby and soccer to contend with, existing players have no obligation to commit any given year, might feel that playing negative football which requires a less skilled and far more replaceable type of player that they can produce again and again, is their best chance to succeed, well I’m surprised.
This football committee just like the hurling debate a few weeks ago on rte won’t do anything as the problems lie in the core values of the sport.

I watched Gaelic football for the very first time this past weekend, spurred into doing so by a conversation with neighbour who is a fan. As someone completely new to game, just a sports fan looking for something entertaining to watch, this is what I would change about the sport:
*Refs really need to start calling overplaying. One game I saw, a player scored after carrying the ball seven steps without bouncing or soloing,. Having just learnt the rules, I was so confused, especially when the commentators didn't say something about it, not even during replay where it was even more obvious.
*Passing should be done by fist-passing and kicking only, open-hand passing just looks like the players are throwing the ball to me and I thought that wasn't allowed.
"Scores and goals should only be kicked. I saw a player score with a open-hand pass (throw) over the bar and, to me, that just looked a bit naff.

Firstly penalitys and Mark ball needs to go, and the clock needs to be done like rugby and women's football when there is injurys etc the clock stops taking the power of extra time, injury time out of a referees hands

Could something be done cutting the number of players going back.
Full forwards not allowed over the half way lime and Full back line not allowed over the half way line.

We need to bring gaelic football back to when it was more enjoyable back in the 70s,80s. Forwards got yo show their skills and not surrounded by three four players. Defensive football should never been allowed to carry on.
