This is so helpful. Thanks! Just knowing that you can Max a text value in this context is enlightening.
I think the first method would be preferable if you expect to have more than one value within a group: each one would fill down until a new one was encountered. In the second method, any previous or subsequent values would be replaced with the single Max value.

My fill down/fill up works fine when I mimic your example. However, the resulting table has only two columns but I need all 12 columns from the Power Query table to be returned. How do I accomplished that?

How weird, I did a similar nested function earlier Ruth with Table.Sort ascending (characters end at top of column) and then Table.FillDown but that Max option I never knew...how cool 👌

Hello, I always like your videos... Small question, I try to duplicate a table from a connection to a direct query on an online dataset. I think I can do it only with a DAX function "DirectQuery to AS" but I'm struggling to do it. Any suggestion ? Thank you

Hi, I have Excel as a source with grupped rows inside (nombers of levels on the left side) is there a option in powerbi to retrive this information about grupping?
I have downloaded and installed a gateway which by default is my gateway cluster and through which I published and refreshed a report. Now I have created another report with a new data source but unable to refresh it as while adding the data source to to the previously downloaded gateway cluster the error message appears "not configured correctly". Do I need to download another gateway and add to existing cluster for the data source to get refreshed? If yes, then will I have to download the gateway again and again for every report that I create and add to the gateway cluster? Also what will happen if other colleagues of my organization start preparing the report on their own computer? Will they have to repeat the same process? Or they can use my gateway cluster and keep adding the new gateways to it?
Can we do a fill down only to one row down?
