I’m guessing this would explain why my G56 equipped truck chatters the tires under slight acceleration around a tight corner. Makes me feel better once I do take it off road though.
I have one of these all apart trying to figure out why the driveshaft can turn almost 1/8 without moving the rear tires.... i found one of the shims broken inside... some small chips on the surface of the spider gear teeth.
Just bought a 2006 3500 single rear wheel I didn’t know if it had limited slip so I power break it it does :-) I was curious what type of set up it had this looks just like the Detroit true track
hey thanks for making this video. I was looking for information on how much endplay the side gears can have and can't seem to find any info on it. I have mine out of the truck and I can rock driver and passenger side gears back and forth about 1/16 of an inch. Have you checked endplay when you had this one apart?
@@bigmarv1807 Cool. It looks like the Eaton Trutrac product (or similar). Doesn't seem to be a clutch and friction plate type LSD found in the 1500/2500 which wear out. Is this after-market or OEM? Either way cool video dude
Was stuck in mud and found out my antislip is slipping. Looking at this and that must mean there has to be substantial damage but all works otherwise as expected. Just changed fluid 10,000 miles ago. What must be must be I guess. Time for open says me.
With this style it will act almost like an open diff if one wheel has traction and the other has none... Sometimes giving it some parking brake will TEASE it into sending power to the wheel with traction
Is it just like the eaton? I'm hoping my truck doesn't have one, haha, I just spent 1,036 on itv and waiting to install it. The 1 wheel wonder is really a pain in the butt im gonna give the ebrake trick a shot before I put it it. Though I think the eaten likely has a better design than the aam oem With spur gears instead of those 6 little wedges that wedge into the aposing gear it rides against. I think the issue with the aam is exactly those wedge pieces and having to force them into the gears via the brake by adding load to the spinning tire when they wear out. I guess the true track is the one I should of been looking at buying but im about to open up my new eaton to see if it is biult like the factory one in video first of all. Thanks for the enformative video. Subscribed!
please just I bought a 08 f150 rear wheels not spinning do you think is the transfer case or differential when I put the car up to the air rear wheels are like locked my truck won't move at all and when it goes in gear it trys to shut off
possumpopper89 If the carrier’s case is not worn should be fine. The issue is finding just new helical gear set. I have never been able to just the gears for sale.
@@bigmarv1807 I see new diffs and used diffs for sale as complete units. I haven’t seen the helical gears for sale separately either. Just curious if anyone else knew of a source. Mine is in good shape, years ago I had the helical gears coming apart in a jeep I used to own.
I've mentioned anti spin diffs and people just don't believe there is such a thing. Thank you.
Pretty cool. Glad you took it apart and showed because on one else would!
Thanks
Same interest as you.Never had one apart,no video found. Thanks for doing it.
I just learned something. That was extremely informative. Thanks.
Just bought one to replace the original in my truck. It will be interesting to see how different it is

It's like a Gleason torsion rear end.
I have a 2011 Ram 2500 with this axle. I feel a shudder when driving slow and turning. Is there a problem? If so how do i fix it?
How do you weld these “spider gears”?
♥️👍

When I checked mine there may have been .005 to .008 thousandths. Just enough for oil.
Hello So what did you do with the 1/16 play ?
Sounds to be ok with in spec s ?
What did you do ?
Thank you
Is this the same as "Torsen"?
Very close but not as aggressive.

Very similar to Eaton trutrac. It is factory OEM

Like a Detroit Eaton True trac

Can these be rebuilt? New internal gears purchased and installed?
