2 pieces of advise for Kasey: 1. 7:53 Listen to Emily next time and shake the bees first, that way you aren't rushing around trying to keep your cells warm.... always listen to your woman 2. Put on your seat belt! One stray raccoon or rabbit and you could be eating glass. Come on Scott! Let us get your wisdom!
Your experience is very good for mating high quality queen bee. But I have one question about rearing high quality queen bee.How to choose breeder family or buy it from producer and how to rear f0 queen bees.If you answer me I would be grateful.
Might be a good idea to have a check list of gear you all need , hive tools for each bee keeper , smokers and fuel, spare boxes and frames, lighters, enough bee food syrup etc not a great day working with only some of the needed things you all need. I do this before I even think about touching bee hives to work on. , oh a good bee suite lol that helps. 👍
Those mini ether need to start them on top of brood box for two weeks or set them in completely dark until those cells hatch .. need a smoke up box so your BF ain't getting eaten up like that.. just dealing with happy queen right nurse bees with smoke up box.. smoke them up thru the excluder.. key is to stick those in high grass as well they don't get robbed out and the queen can't just fly off without bunch of drones after her . almost perfect results do all that.. looking at 50% that way then you jungle brood frames around adding more bees .. problem is they leak and daylight they get on the screen not your cell. Dark they are calm as the cell hatches .. once they have brood they work really good I've got like 70 of them.
Thank you good sir, very solid advice as this didnt work out they way i had hoped, never using them before turned out to not work the same way as the mini nucs which I have fantastic success with, honestly I wouldn't do it like this again this is why i like the people who give advice and chose not to just be hateful, and infact this didn't work out basically at all but we are gonna try again using the way you discussed in this comment so honestly thank you for the solid advice means alot to us as we learn new equipment
Yeah, we work with minis many years. First. That mesh will not keep bees a float.. at the time they are stressed and will drawn ich other. That a side. We shake a lot of nurse bees in a bucket and spray them a little bit with water after the older fly out. It's much easier to work with them than. Use a plastic cup or something like that and just scoop bees with it to put in the mini. Our frames have just a strip of wax sheet. There's no need for full frame plastic. I actually cut off half of the frames from time to time to give them work and fresh cells. Next year you just need the top one finger of comb to start. The most important part of it is that for the first time you should put them all in a cold dark room for a couple of days like it's mentioned before. And if you can give them solid food in the feeder.. ground up sugar mixture... can't remember your name for it. Or you need to cut that mesh into square pieces and put it vertical. Or two V strips. A virgin goes in immediately when they are still stressed and it's enough to keep them dark one day and put in the field late afternoon. For a cell is better 2-3 days. And if you can do it in a flow when they like to do it. Always try to work with them. A small plastic drinking cup of bees is enough
@@theterriblebeekeeper7435 id just put them back in those boxes the frames came in place them on top of strong brood box . It will be no pain once have brood they work great and you can over winter queens in them . Let them bulk up on goldenrod live thru winter no problem. They need that fat from the goldenrod
Where do you buy your single and double mating nucs from? I’ve looked around and it seams like they are $20+ for 1 so I was wondering if anyone knows a better place to buy them from?
