Yay for Photo Real! I love face printing tech, it takes the action figure to a whole new level, and that's no different for the standard release of Hasbro's Star Wars Black Series Captain Rex. So good!

I hope they release a Captain Fordo, the dual wielding Clone Trooper from the original 2D cartoon Star Wars Clone Wars.
Yes, yes, YES AGAIN. At this point I would buy ANY ARC Trooper figure they have to offer.
I can get behind that! I love ARC Troopers whether they're from the old Clone Wars like Fordo or from the new series- I'd kill for Echo and Fives in their ARC Trooper gear!
The Guardian torso is my second favourite clone trooper he proved himself and deserves an action figure
The Guardian my only thing I really want with fordo, and I can’t stress it enough, is swappable helmets. Cause he had both phase one and two armors and both were iconic

They probably won't do it but wouldn't it be nice if they recreated the 3 1/2 inch feature and included both sets of gear to make his phase I and phase II gear?
That flattened nose is an example of why I'll always prefer swap-out heads instead of removable helmets. It also prevents paint scrapping and proportion issues (ie original Darth Vader)
Yup, even here Rex's head is a little bit small to accommodate the helmet.
Hasbro! Release a set of heads with the photo real tech for your old figures! I'd be willing to pay $5 or so for each lol

I wasn't able to get the previous Rex figure (I believe it had a very limited release in the UK) but I have pre-ordered the 3D print Rex and I look forward to receiving it in April!
Clone Troopers, I love Clone Troopers and Rex is my favourite!
My only little gripe is that the Black Series figures have a 'neutral/passive' expression. It would be great if they had an 'attack/angry' expression.
Otherwise, this looks like grand figure!

Yeah, they would be way cheaper than trying to army build the SHF or model kits.

But we've never really had an official face reveal for boba, we could assume he looks like jango but they probably won't make a removable helmet boba in till we get a canon face reveal for boba.

1:49 Actually the explanation is that the Phase 1 armor was more durable and better for protection along with a better visor while the Phase 2 armor was more comfortable and allowed for more mobility. So Rex wanted the best parts from the old armor and slapped it onto the new armor.

Question- how easy is it to cut the trigger finger for the left hand? I have an X-Acto knife; would that be sufficient? Would I simply slice straight into the hand from the fingertips to the knuckle?
That's exactly what I use, and exactly how I did it. Just follow the sculpted line of the finger and you should be fine.
Yea it's pretty easy I just did it and I would highly recommend doing it
If anybody is reading this, get your black series figures off amazon. I went into my local comic shop yesterday and they had absolute jack in there. They had the same three or four rogue one characters and a snoke for retail price. Not one prequel, EU or OT character. On amazon however i got the sdcc exclusive kylo ren for £25, boba fett for £25 (sold out everywhere near me except amazon), the last jedi version of kylo ren with the better face sculpt for 6.99, captain phasma for £11 and just recently captain rex for £11. They even had 4-lom on sale for £18 reduced from £32 and is currently sitting at £20 as of writing this.
Yesterday, rex was around £21 but today he was £11. Every day it seems there's another character on sale so i would highly recommend getting them from amazon. Most only take a day to arrive too if you've got prime and in some cases if you order early in the morning you can get it the same day.
I got the v2 rex with the new face print but i need the hascon one because of the extra guns.In the show rex uses the standard trooper rifle from time to time also since rex has the new print on one head i dont wanna smash the nose or cover it up because the head is beautiful! Plus i want a rex where hes helmeted and one thats maxing and relaxing on the carrier going over plans for their next mission. both ways are badass and the dirtiness on the hascon works out in my favor cause fighting with ashoka and anakin your gonna be a dirty little trooper ha now hurry up walgreens we need our General Kenobi he looks amazing!kickass review robo i binge watch you all the time you are my favorite channel for kickass toys!!

Hope they revisit Rex for the release of Season 7 along with Clone Force 99 figures and a new Cody figure, Jesse also is an ARC trooper now so I'm hoping for that as well but they'll probably just focus on a few interesting figures and a lot of other ones I won't care about
Only gripe from this figure Is I can’t do the signature pose where he makes and X with the blasters

Hey Robo, love your reviews and channel. Not judging or being negative but this Rex isn't really meant to go with the Rebels. Old Rex is Rebels Era. If anything this one would go with Clone Wars animated or a Episode 2/3 setup I would think (even though there are a lack of BS6 for those films to get him next to).. God i'm a nerd. Cheers!
You are EXACTLY right. I got excited about adding to my Rebels crew that I didn't even think of where he should go. Even sadder, I have an old man Rex cast head sitting here waiting to be painted and to find a body. I even had the HasCon Rex in with my other clone commanders before taking him down for this.

The quality controll on the helmet is really bad, I've seen so many videos of people that had absolutely horrible paint decals on his helmet. I would go as far as to completely redo that helmet myself if I would actually get this one

The Clone models are so close in size to the Black Series Clones and Rex, it's almost like they were meant to go together. The only big thing is the white of the models is a stark white while the Black Series has a gray tint to it. But they still look great together.
Can’t wait to pick that up. I was kinda hoping it would’ve been a Walgreens exclusive I always have luck w/ Black series @ Walgreens. Oh well, gotta keep a look out for 59. Thanks Robo!

Glad I waited for the reissue, saved me some money from the scalped Hascon version from Ebay.
Since I always keep helmets on, having a dirty chest means more to me than a photo-real face, unless its a character from live-action, then I want it to look like the actor. With helmets on, Hascon wins in accessories and aesthetic, while the single wins in articulation and aesthetic (helmet off). If I could only pick one, I'd just have to go with the Hascon, that box plus the "exclusiveness" of it adds a special something that just can't be replicated in a widespread release. I would have loved to see a head swap, but I know thats harder on some BS figs.

Yeah Rec looks awesome. Is the head sculpt the same, just wondering if the face print tech makes such a difference, or have the tweaked the sculpt too? Also, is the pauldron slightly different too?

Robo if ever you're gonna come back today. Can you please ask the Bandai SH Figuarts guys if they have any plans on getting the NJPW license. I hope they do since they did some WWE and Kinikuman figures. It also makes sense since they're a Japanese based company the NJPW scene is booming. I really want an NJPW action figure. Thank you! I use pen knives to cut the plastic to remove the helmet , not sure is my pen knives damaged the helmet a not. Cause my pen knives blade very sharp. While cutting the plastic. I accidentally pok the helmet. Got feel that pen knive stuck on the helmet
