It's probably different for everyone. Mine occured due to lost connection which might be why it resolved without the primary change. Any other reason might necessitate the the change in primary status before licenses can be renewed. Also make sure your PlayStation + status is up-to-date. PS+ games require subscription regardless of gamesharing.

@Yhauna Lee-Frayer you can log in to the playstation website in your browser and delete your activated playstation from your account. after you restart your ps4 youre able to activate it as primary.

Ok so here’s the deal I logged into my account and loaded up a game One of my friends instantly logs back in as soon as I load up the game booting me out of the system I log back in and everything’s fine An hour or 2 later it says “Cannot use content You were signed in to PlayStation Network on another ps4. It will take some time until you can use this content on ps4 with your license” Now because I’m an impatient bastard and because it’s my account and ps4 in the first place I don’t exactly wanna wait for whatever time they want me to wait for I also tried restoring my licenses but it didn’t work And my content is linked with my brothers account and I’d really rather not go through that hassle of activating both accounts as primary and then deactivating them or whatever you do to play eachothers games Is there another way I can fix this?

Thanks, this worked great for yesterday's update. 7.5 system update. Activating the licenses manually fixes this bug.

It didn't work at all. After I deleted the game and I went to redownload it it's now asking me to pay for it again.
Edit : I needed to buy PlayStation plus again on that specific account. That fixed everything.
