sperrotta91 Considering SexyBack single handedly changed mainstream music from normal pop to pop/dance I'd say the album was iconic. There was nothing like that out until that point. Then we started to get Ne-Yo with Closer, Don't Stop The Music, Forever. Flo-Rida etc. Sexyback started all of that.
To say that SexyBack singlehandedly changed mainstream music from A to B is a bit much considering that pop music had begun to fully embrace a club-ready sound a little earlier than that but it was an innovative single alright... The main drawback to FutureSex/LoveSound for me is the slightly ham-fisted, lazy songwriting that cribs a little too much from r&b and hip-hop sometimes... Justin says he models himself on MJ and Prince but lyrically he's closer to R. Kelly and Usher...
...when you branch out of hip-hop/r&b sounds, as JT frequently does, sometimes you need to switch your songwriting style up...
