How does the OpenRouter works? You documentation just says authorize, doesn't show the further steps at least blurred. I logged in OR but I didn't understand. I wanted to add my open AI Key but when I clicked Add Key it is creating a API key which I don't know where to use, is it safe to add my card there on OR?
We choose not to have users plug in the OpenAI key directly mostly due to privacy concerns. OpenAI Policy, while vague, is against user sharing their API key. And we agree with this. Even though we will never do such a thing, having users give away OpenAI API keys can expose users to the risk of bad-acting developers abusing the keys. My team and I think we shouldn’t encourage that practice. With OpenRouter, the user has much more control of how their API key is used and overall offers more safeguards.
