My 1989 Xtra cab Hilux 4x4 22R all original 725000km I owned it from new.. I’ve also got a 2003 TD kzn165R with 265000km all original purchase it from the same dealer as the first one.. i would love a Toyota V8 Hilux.
The néw v6 turbo is a better engine, lighter more torque, perfect for off roadies, specially for sand, provides a better weight distribution, thus better handling. But this V8… Oh My God, this V8, it’s insane! What a sound!
Turbo V6 is probably not lighter. V8 is fully aluminium. And turbocharged engines require more stuff like oil coolers, intercooler, more water to cool down turbos. You can extract more torque from V8 by more aggressive gearing.

A Baja Trophy truck is much better than this Hilux, Baja TT has more power, better suspension travel, its faster and has a top speed of 150mph (260kph) also most of them come with all wheel drive
because it is called as T1.1 (or super production class), basically the car have to be based from mass-produce truck (like Hilux, L200, Ford Ranger, etc) with modification to support the needs of the Rally Cross Country and of course to reduce cost on building the car, meanwhile Baja 1000 design completely from zero(except the engine probably from existing car).

Am certain that N/A V8 is a much smaller package than the 3.5v6 biturbo....the v6 has more torque but the V8 has the Response of a sport bike.
