Hi everyone! I wanted to address AND APOLOGIZE as I have recieved a few comments regarding explicitly mentioning the 16GB of RAM and a short sight on my part! 1) I have recieved a LOT of positive feedback and I am so glad this video is helpful for so many of You! This is my first time doing this kind of review for you guys. It's been challenging but fun! 2) Life has honestly been hectic, I've been working on a lot and my time has been pulled between a lot of different life domains including Moving, Health scares, and some other stuff. In my video last week I made it known that I have the base, $600 model with 16GB of RAM and forgot to reiterate that point verbally this week. I guess I figured that all of the footage I showed and my discussion of the M4 Mac Minis performance during these tasks would have been a clear indicator that 16GB of RAM has not been a problem in my experience so far BUT, I do understand that I have to treat each video as a standalone and assume every video is seeing 100% news eyes/viewers. Did you try the AI denoiser in Lightroom. How much time does it take to denoise a 50-100MB image file? On my current PC with an old graphic card it takes 5-10 minutes, but I've seen people doing it in seconds. BTW thanks for taking the time to showcase some real life usage instead of showing test results, this is much more helpful.

Hello! I honestly have not been in that specific situation, BUT, I was in a 45 minute online meeting on just 1Gbps Internet and didn't have any problems!
No, there is no need. You only want to go with 10Gbps if you’re using NAS that supports it or you have a really fast internet connection and you wish to take full advantage of it
I am set on getting the M4 Pro Mac Mini with the higher processor and 1TB SSD, but I am torn between selecting 24 GB RAM or 64 GB RAM. I plan to use this machine primarily for Final Cut Pro for 4K video editing and Photoshop. Do you think I need to upgrade the RAM, or would 24 GB suffice for my needs and save me $600?
If i didn't need to be away from a desk at times, id consider selling my m1 pro mbp (so many "pro") picking up an m4 mini and using the extra cash to take a staycation with wifey
You got an amazing machine already. Easily the best deal in Mac laptops of the last decade. No need to upgrade or replace it, and selling it is absolutely not worth it either, you'll get a fraction of what you paid. I regret losing mine every single day. Keep that machine for the long run; the benefit of being portable is what makes it all the better. Performance is no different (in fact M1 Pro is still better in some ways). Right now, in the middle of hurricanes and power outages, sometimes I can be unable to use my Mac mini for an entire day, that wouldn't have been an issue had I not lost my MacBook Pro M1 Pro.
This is a pretty good presentation and you are highlighting many good points regarding the all new mini, as you are new to all this I am forgiving the fact you gave a little lopsided contradictory heading to the video ? but let’s let that one go,in fact I would go as far as saying if you cut to the chase avoid any forms of click baiting don’t repeat yourself over and over with big production introductions and give good content to help people out with technology headaches then I would say good call well done and you do have a great chance so best of luck with your channel because there are so many on here who make all the for mentioned content mistakes and it’s becoming progressively harder to take.
I want to ask you an honest question. i'm a content creator who produces historical video documentaries. i'm using i5 12400f and GTX4060, 16GB RAM PC but when i start working in several layers in editing, i have a lag problem. My videos are usually around 20-30 minutes. I use photos, footage of historical events, short videos, so it's not a heavy file size. However, I'm going to start editing 4K videos in the near future. My computer freezes even with 2-3 minute 4K videos I shoot on my iPhone in H265 format. Can you recommend me the base model m4 mini or should I choose something else? My current computer is not bad, it's fine. I will only buy it as a second computer if it can do the tasks I mentioned. Thank you for your answer. Also thank you for these nice videos.
Editing 4K videos demands a lot of memory, and the stuttering you’re experiencing is likely because 16GB of RAM just isn’t enough-it’s creating a bottleneck. Upgrading to a base model Mac Mini with only 16GB of RAM, which isn’t upgradable at all, probably wouldn’t solve the issue. Instead, I’d recommend adding two more memory sticks, either 16GB or 32GB each. Combined with the two 8GB sticks you already have, you’d end up with 48GB or 80GB of RAM. This upgrade would not only address your current stuttering issue but also future-proof your PC for 4K editing for years to come. Also, make sure your 4k footages are stored in SSD because traditional hard drives are just too slow for this.
You could use the base model but with 32Gb of RAM, because I thing that's part of the problem. 16Gb of RAM is a bit short for what you are doing. I'm a software developer and I have the same issue, I need at least 32Gb, even more If I start using LLMs locally.
Hi there! So far in my experience it does not become "loud", no! Sometimes you can hear the faint hum if the fans whirring but far from loud in my experience. And a bit warm at max loads, but not hot nor concerning!

So I do photography and videography as my business and create content. I’m thinking about gettin the Mac mini but debating the base model or get the base but with. 24 gb of ram. Would you recommend the base ? I am at some point going to upgrade to the actual Mac Studio for sure probably next year.
I think for the long run and being future proof for a few years, probably the pro model with at least 24 gb ram would be a safer choice. Plus you get much better GPU performance for multi tasking and video editing and gaming.
@ make sense plus. The base with 24gb is $1k and the pro is $1400. Might as well spend the extra 400 for future proof. Cause I do play video games from ps5 and stream. So it would make sense
@@5600hp very true. Only reason I didn’t want to spend the money on the pro is because I am planning to get the Mac studio when it comes out. Or like a year or so. But I do stream, so it might make sense to get the pro for sure for now
16 Gb is perfect for most users but I think for professionals is a bit short. I'm a software developer and I need 64Gb. I use to have enough with 32Gb, Docker uses lots of RAM. But now, in addition to that, I've started using local LLMs, and they eat a lot of memory too.
Hey! I appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective and insights! Definitely, I unfortunately didn't have time to try out the LLMs properly and didn't want to lie to anyone say I've tried them out yet. In my experience, this Definitely handles pretty much everyday tasks (even a lot of them all concurrently) super well! Thank you for the context of your software engineering and needing 64GB. What machine are you using?
@@DavidAVelez1 I'm using MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip and 32 Gb of RAM. And now that I'm playing with AI, 32 Gb falls a bit short for bigger models. But anyway, I can always use the AI in the cloud.
Gonna throw out some criticism: everything looks so clean, so well shot, so... unreal. Artificial. If I had to compare your video to food, it would be a chocolate bar full of artificial flavoring and synthetic ingredients and just a tiny bit of food stuff found in the natural world. People eat that shit up but it's not healthy. It looks like you film on the set of a CW TV show but I assume it's your actual home and not a TV set.
Hey there! First, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment about your thoughts! All feedback is welcome. Second, this caught me by suprise 😆 I suppose because I definitely do NOT have the type of money or production set up for a TV show or setups like those huge big RUclipsrs do. And I just moved into a new place and feel like my desk setup is pretty basic! Nothing really remarkable. What helps though is that because I just moved in, I don't have a ton of stuff out yet as to not clutter my space (I hope to keep it this way) I guess, overall, I just hope that my presentation doesn't feel staged or like a TV show! I like to make my videos look good, but I never want that to override that I am being genuine with you guys. The goal is always so you feel like you're sitting down and talking with a buddy about tech.
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the video! I honestly have been immensely impressed by how good it is is for the price! Definitely an easy reccomend for most!
If you want to make a difference, you should do reviews for specialized numerical processing software such as Matlab; every review out there is basically by content creators for content creators, and hey, 99% of people out there aren't "content creators", so, such "real world use" isn't accurate at all whatsoever. Again, wanna make a difference, then be different by doing something different.
Yeah, RUclips channels only stressing for making more RUclips videos. As you point out, what about math and engineering applications? Science applications? Page layout applications?
@TheDanEdwards exactly; I'd love to see an actual exhaustive M series + Ryzen + Intel vs M4, M4 pro, M4 Max on every RAM configuration for Wolfram Mathematica symbolic and numerical processing. Imagine having such review for an actual CFD + heat transfer + Fourier series integrated model for s whole building energy performance simulation or a Brayton cycle propulsión system simulation, but no, we get shit ass rEnDerS instead. Irrefutable proof content creators focus on a fake circular economy that just feeds on themselves.

What would be the practical differences in using these two machines in my workflow? $1,079.00 Apple M4 chip with 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine 32GB unified memory Or $1,799.00 512GB SSD storage Apple M4 Pro chip with 12‑core CPU, 16‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine 48GB unified memory 512GB SSD storage 2) Is there any speed or performance advantage in going with a 1 TB SSD vs 512? 3) Do I need to worry about fan noise when I’m recording on camera video or voice over? THANK YOU!

Sounds like a 'your keyboard problem'. I think the internet would explode if all the professionals that chose Mac above Windows would experience the same problem, don't you think? IOS developers would lose it.
May be some problem with keyboard drivers on mac. I use Logitech mx series keyboard and mouse but on m4 mini pro. 256 GB ssd gets slower as you install apps and os size increase. @ Then…hello Mac Mini M5! 😍
Please , can you tell me if can handle a 100+ Chrome tabs ?
@ I forgot to mention you get all Thunderbolt 5 ports instead of 4 .
@@5600hp very true. Only reason I didn’t want to spend the money on the pro is because I am planning to get the Mac studio when it comes out. Or like a year or so. But I do stream, so it might make sense to get the pro for sure for now

What monitor?
@David A. Velez Hello, wich Tool is this you are use for the Game Benchmark, in the lower right corner? Thx
What would be a good portable monitor with installed camera to use it with Mac Mini M4 as a laptop, please?
That's a tough question, as it should be a 4K monitor.
16 is good enough for pro work but it's a minimum, yes
Gonna throw out some criticism: everything looks so clean, so well shot, so... unreal. Artificial. If I had to compare your video to food, it would be a chocolate bar full of artificial flavoring and synthetic ingredients and just a tiny bit of food stuff found in the natural world.
People eat that shit up but it's not healthy. It looks like you film on the set of a CW TV show but I assume it's your actual home and not a TV set.
Hey there! First, I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment about your thoughts! All feedback is welcome.
Second, this caught me by suprise 😆
I suppose because I definitely do NOT have the type of money or production set up for a TV show or setups like those huge big RUclipsrs do.
And I just moved into a new place and feel like my desk setup is pretty basic! Nothing really remarkable. What helps though is that because I just moved in, I don't have a ton of stuff out yet as to not clutter my space (I hope to keep it this way)
I guess, overall, I just hope that my presentation doesn't feel staged or like a TV show! I like to make my videos look good, but I never want that to override that I am being genuine with you guys. The goal is always so you feel like you're sitting down and talking with a buddy about tech.
Great overview! I’m going to pull the trigger on this device.

New sub here. First & foremost, GO BIRDS! Great channel. Would you be so kind as to answer a few questions. I mostly use Final Cut Pro & Photoshop to create videos on my Billy Luna Crime Stories YT channel. I am working in 1080p, but plan to start working in 4k. Currently I am Using a Sandisk Extreme Pro SSD (2TB & 4TB) to edit off whilst using FCP. I like to use Final Cut Pro, Photoshop and 40 web browser tabs open simultaneously.
1) For my needs, which exact configuration of the new M4 Mac Mini should I get? (Pro or no, RAM, SSD) I want a machine that is enough for what I do, but not more than I need for more $: These are the two configurations that I have been mulling. What would be the practical differences in using these two machines in my workflow?
$1,079.00
Apple M4 chip with 10‑core CPU, 10‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
32GB unified memory
Or
$1,799.00
512GB SSD storage
Apple M4 Pro chip with 12‑core CPU, 16‑core GPU, 16‑core Neural Engine
48GB unified memory
512GB SSD storage
2) Is there any speed or performance advantage in going with a 1 TB SSD vs 512?
3) Do I need to worry about fan noise when I’m recording on camera video or voice over?

@@audio.video.disco.- what important app wouldn’t be upgraded to remain relevant? Unless the company went bankrupt, you’d be cutting off future revenue stream by not making your software compatible

Click bait. 🤮
Hey, Thomas! Why click bait?
In the EU it’s €720 for the base model… WTF?
REALLY? Pain 😭😭
In the States the price is without tax. EU price tax is included.
The total amount you pay is exactly the same. Only thing that makes the EU price 'more expensive' is that the Euro is worth more than a dollar.

Another boring test done on video editing. Put it real machine learning coding those stuffs
its very slow man. people hyped it so much. Mainly my keyboard is not responsive. I have to close all the app to use keyboard. i open xcode visual c and browser ...it become slow.
I dont think its memory . Apple mac is slow
We like ipad because there is always only one app running
I am new to mac , its not good.
It has good concept of APP as a single stuff. No virus possibilities
But too many process running in background ..1000s.
Also IO is slowed by how much cpu is busy.
So far i am unimpressed. I bough a new laptop two month ago i7 32mb and 4060 gpu. its stunningly fast in windows 11
sure mac mini 4 is 400 dollar cheaper but kinda unusable with keyboard lag
Sounds like a 'your keyboard problem'. I think the internet would explode if all the professionals that chose Mac above Windows would experience the same problem, don't you think? IOS developers would lose it.
May be some problem with keyboard drivers on mac. I use Logitech mx series keyboard and mouse but on m4 mini pro. 256 GB ssd gets slower as you install apps and os size increase. Also if you want to resale after 2 years who will buy 256Gb model when new ones will be 512Gb. So I choose base model m4 pro mini for coding video editing and gaming is awesome as well. I like m4 pro so far
