Sligo Ireland - Benwiskin Mountain hiking guide

- Sligo in Ireland has many iconic hiking routes however Benwiskin is less know which is why I posted my hiking guide for it. Benwiskin Mountain stands out from Benbulbin and The Gleniff Horseshoe as it has a curve and can be seen as being very steep.

I made this ascent with my young son many years ago but rather than returning from the summit by the same route we continued to the head of the Gleniff horseshoe and came down past the old mine workings, My wife was waiting with the car at the building known as the old schoolhouse. On another occasion I climbed alone to Diarmuid & Grainne's cave but that is not recommended - one section is horrifyingly steep.
