Mike is an extremely underrated Guitarist and I do live for all his lead moments, in every song he's played. This video is a Fantastic Tutorial that helps me out so much! Thank You! ( Treasure )
I’ve always been a huge Mike Campbell fan and totally agree that he is one of the most tasteful, thoughtful guitarists in the industry-always serves the song first. I saw TP and Heartbreakers live three times over two decades of my life and the last concert I attended in Houston, Mike Campbell was absolutely on fire. Thanks for doing this video!
This should show especially beginners how important playing or arpeggios are so important in soloing and licks. Tom Petty got most of the credit for all of his 100's of hits but Mike Campbell was an guitarist above the rest. I like his videos on you tube, where does a lesson and tells the story behind it, very interesting. Good lesson Hoodrio.
And he’s such a humble down to earth funny ass dude! Never had a problem being in the shadow of Tom either… and he was a true Homebro and amazing co-creator as well !! Love Mike Campbell’s style , I was born in 82 so I grew up listening to it all and he was the first guitar player that I noticed had a definite swagger and sound to …. Even as a kid I was feelin it !!
Thanks. You really highlighted the magnificent leads with less flashy Mike Campbell style guitar. Always learn so much from your breakdown of the guitar greats !!!
Thank you for your insightful video about Mike Campbell. Although he did get props for being in the heartbreakers he probably never did get the full recognition for his simple beautiful contributions to the career of Tom Petty You bring out many things I didn't know about how the songs were played and composed . I did not know about the surf album as well You get thumbs way up and a new Sub to your channel as I look forward to discovering your other material Best wishes for your success in the new year.
Hey great video! I played in a Tom Petty cover band for a year and I'm relieved to see that I played most of thise licks correctly lol! I really didn't know what I was doing haha. I have no theorie knowledge but I do have a really good ear lol! I like that strat neck pickup in your Tele as well! Cheers!
Great to see a lesson on one of the most tasteful guitar players in rock history.😊

Did not know about The Blue Stingrays.....gotta check it out
In the Heartbreakers documentary, Mike says his favorite chord is F#m and he loves to play around it. Me too !
One of my favourite guitarists. Not flashy but always on the mark.

Hi Hoodrio, Your right, watch her walk is my favorite part too.
Really well done analysis and presentation. I too am fond of MC’s licks, a musical gift like no other. Thanks.
Mike's licks are pretty easy , but it does it with such finesse adding great tasty parts to The Heartbreakers.
