When I become older, I want to be a person like him! I don't want to lose my vintage soul and vibe even when i get older. I want to be COOL as just like Kurtis

Salute to our Pioneers. The first class of hip hop & the Greatest Youth Movement Ever. I'm Mr. J of the GIFTED 4 ( Sounds of the mic & Temper ) 1984 / 85. Long live Grassroots / Classical hip hop. Happy 50th anniversary. Cheers !!
I was fortunate enough to see Kurtis at a local music festival in 2018 or so, it was amazing!! I'd been roller skating and dancing to his music since the 70's. Legend.
I remember when Kurtis blow first came on scene! Sure miss those days. He'll always be a true legend, and I'll always be a fan! Wish I could have attended this event. They sure had a blast! :) Much love! Thank you for sharing this video =)
Millenials, THIS was hip hop. No cursing, no disrespecting women, no violence, no sex etc. THIS was what hip hop used to be. Seeing Kurtis Blow, looking great, sounding great, dancing and killing the crowd in the 2000s made me smile.
Cursing is hip hop too, you elitist. I can enjoy sugar hill gang or MF DOOM and you can't say boop bout it. Some of the dirtiest sounding dudes are the chillest.
This I truly enjoyed this when rapping was competitive but fun, batting was dancing and fun big ups to one of the greatest pioneers Mr. Kurtis Blow and to the dancers all was just beautiful.
I grew up in the 90s into the 2000s so this was before my time, but its easy to recognize and respect the real old school. Stuff like this, Sugarhill Gang, and the movie Wildstyle really shows the roots. People were so thin, some of those black folks spinning on cardboard in the street is mesmerizing. As for the music- constant lyrical flow, little profanity, and witty long storytelling, and good beats. The content was very dense. You can see more of this trickling into the 90s especially with Pete Rock and CL Smooth. It's easy to see where the roots and inspiration come from. Nas and Biggie were commercial successes of the 90s, and both had good storytelling ability. They were not "novelty" artists/songs. The music & media industry & tech has changed a lot, but this is the OG material. The thick textbook you study from
